Visual documents confirm the arrival at the designated collection site. Approx ten minutes have passed.
Lt. Quipree: There doesn’t seem to be any noticeable signs of life thus far. My audio receptors are picking up a strange constant sound. Can you hear that? Is it just me?
Srg Aiml11: Previous runs have confirmed that this planet produces this noise naturally to signal the night. It seems to be more prominent in more organic areas. Whether or not the terrestrials have anything to do with it is still unknown.
Ct. [REDACTED]: Amazing. Is it always so idiosyncratic or is it playing on some sort of audio loop?
Srg Aiml11: I want to say audio loop, as it generally sounds the same to me but we should never assume these things. This your first run Cadet?
Ct. [REDACTED]: My first in a grey zone. If I do well on this run I’ll qualify for a promotion.
A series of sincere congratulations from multiple researchers.
Lt. Jinglee: Um, Sargent? I’m getting a strange pressure reading. The moisture in the air seems to be increasing.
Srg Aiml11: Yes, they are within the safety parameters.
Lt. Quipree: Oh, if we are lucky we might encounter an H2O surge.
Lt. Jinglee: What is that?
Lt. 8888888888888888888ah: Water starts spontaneously falling from the sky. It isn’t anything to really worry about.
Lt. Jinglee: Are you sure? Are our suits retrofitted to protect against that volume of-
Srg. Aiml11: Jinglee, Jinglee-calm down. You’ll waste your hydrogen. Is there anything you wanna talk to me about?
Lt. Jinglee: It’s nothing. I’m fine. It’s just-it’s so isolated out here. There are only these metallic structures here and these weird, what is this on the ground? These lines.
Visual record is directed towards the ground. Strong white lines in an unfinished gridded pattern connect together along with strange symbols identified as terrestrial language.
Ct. [REDACTED]: What does it mean?
Lt. Quipree: Oh, I found something! It seems to be some sort of terrestrial certification document. So compact. This one looks different from the others.
Lt. 88888888888888888888ah: In what way? Wait, you can see them?
Lt. Quipree: There’s a color rendition of a terrestrial on this document. What an amazing find!
Ct. [REDACTED]: Hey! Hey! I found something reflective over here! Lieutenant! Lieutenant!
Lt. Jinglee: Not so loud you [REDACTED]! You might alert unknowns!
Srg Aiml11: What did you find Cadet [REDACTED]?!
Lt. Jinglee: Sarge! Please! You’re going against protocol. Under field code 787: we cannot cause any auditory disturbances that may interfere with recording equipment or signal are p-
Srg Aiml11: Jinglee [assertive tones detected] The only thing that will put us in danger now is illogical emotions. This isn’t like [REDACTED]; we are alone out here. We are going to secure the items we found, we are going to record these markings, collect some flora and head back to port. You need to relax.
Lt. 8888888888888888888ah: The only flora I found was the normal green matter that seems to be sprouting from within the grey ground. Is it possible that this grey ground is not naturally occuring?
Lt. Quipree: Oh, like how we use shggog to create housing structures? The old analysis record revealed this to be a natural material for this planet.
Lt. 8888888888888888888ah: Perhaps they have learned how to replicate their resources to create some sort of synthetic blend. I’ll retake the sample just to be sure.
Weather indicator alerts yellow status. Pressure: High. Moisture: High
Condensation alert.
Srg Aiml11: Oh what now?
Lt. Jinglee: What is this...white, floating, non-tangeble material?! Is this normal on land? I thought this only appeared in the blue zones.
Lt. Quipree: It’s a naturally occuring planetary cloaking device. It seems to be comprised of H2O molecules and heat. It’s harmless Lt. Jinglee. See.
Lt. Jinglee: No, I can’t see. Our visibility has dropped 30%. We should head back to the safety zone. We still don’t understand the terrestrial’s migration patterns or...or their level of intelligence and-and toxicity! We don’t know any of that!
Lt. Quipree: They are not toxic spewing creatures Jinglee.
Lt. Jinglee: They can survive in direct contact with UV waves in a high gravitational atmosphere and they can breathe Oxygen. Oxygen, Quipree! Oxygen! If it can breathe in that stuff it can’t be trusted!
Lt. Quipree: I’m the Animal behaviorist, Jinglee. Those are just evolutionary developments to this environment. They are...[REDACTED] but we can’t fault them for that. This is their home; who are we to call them strange.
Lt. Jinglee: [REDACTED]?!
Lt. 8888888888888888888ah: Wow, language. Please be polite Jinglee.
Lt. Jinglee: I’m the one in charge of keeping all of you alive! Do not argue with me you oblivious [REDACTED].
Srg. Aiml11: Jinglee! That was extremely improper. Our conduct is a reflection of our society and laws. Should we come upon terrestrials, hostile or not, we must behave ourselves. I will not have anyone cursing or worse, behaving boorishly while under my command. Am I understood?
Lt. Jinglee: Understood Sargent.
Srg. Aiml11: I want a verbal apology from you to all of the men for your, forgive me, [REDACTED] behavior.
Lt. Jinglee: [sniffling] You think I’m [REDACTED]?
Srg. Aiml11: Don’t complain. You hurt my feelings first!
Visual confirmation of “the apology” is acknowledged.
Lt. Quipree: I forgive you Jinglee. I understand that the terrestrials here are illogical to us-why the other day I observed the terrestrials gathering in massive numbers, just this hoard of them all and they began to scream at each other and throw their appendages erratically to the most abborant noise. They also seemed to carry around other animal life forms with them at times. They also make odd sounds and walk on all their appendages.
Lt. 8888888888888888888ah: Why?
Lt.Quipree: Optional food source?
Srg. Aiml11: Let’s continue-
