Dead was sitting in the loungeroom, telling Lily what to do – "So you grab the hair, pull up-" he demonstrated on Sad- "and then you just chop straight off, and they're dead!" – when Ashlee walked into the room.
"Hey, Dead! Can you come here for a moment?"
Dead glared at her. "And how do I know you're not gonna kill me?"
Welp. That didn't work. She didn't have time to engage him. Time for plan B.
Ashlee jumped at Dead and bit his shoulder. Dead pushed her off, tearing his jacket and leaving his shoulder bleeding in a super man bro feat of bravery.
"Sad! The stake!" He shouted, clutching a shoulder and trying not to cry, because of his man-bro-manliness.
"I'm on it!"
Sad grabbed the stake and jumped on Ashlee. He stabbed her stomach with the stake.
Ashlee clutched her stomach and staggered back. She could feel the blood pouring out from her stomach and down her legs. No, no, she wasn't going to die again, was she? She wasn't a Beanchester brother! And also she hadn't even had the chance to eat anything other than human since she came back to life.
She pulled the stake out of her stomach and waited for death. And waited. And waited.
"Sad, why isn't it working?!"
Ashlee looked at the stake.
"Uh, guys. Fake Stake, registered trademark." She pulled up her shirt where Sad had 'stabbed' her. There was no wound there. There was only blood. Was that even blood? She wiped a finger through the 'blood' and tasted it. "...and that's tomato juice."
"Dammit, this stupid house got us again." Sad and Dead looked at each other, shrugged, and lunged at Ashlee with machetes in hand. She ran outside of the room and shut the door behind her.
She was still hungry.
Marilyn came walking past. Well, she guessed Marilyn would have to do, no other choice, she had to eat something. She was hungry, and Marilyn was there...
As she was about to maul Marilyn, Linda came running out of the kitchen.
"Ashlee! Wait! Wait!" She was holding something red and meaty. "Have this instead!" Linda threw the thing to Ashlee, which hit her in the face.
It was meat.
It wasn't human, but it would do, because she didn't really want to kill Marilyn any more.
Ashlee pulled the little bottle out of her pocket and covered the raw meat in herbs, then tore into it like a teenager after soccer practice. It was delicious. It was good. And she didn't have to kill any humans to get it.
Linda disgustedly wiped her hands on the carpet, then ran into the kitchen to wash her hands completely. When Ashlee finished her meal, she looked up to find that Linda had come back.
"So, does this mean you aren't a vegan any more?"
"No!" Linda shouted. "It just means that maybe I have concluded that the life of an alive human in front of me matters more than this dead slab." Linda was, in fact, disgusted with herself, but she didn't really want to see someone else's corpse being eaten by a humanoid again.
Ashlee shrugged.
"And also you are covered in blood. A disturbingly large amount. Please clean it up before I vomit."
Ashlee beamed at Linda and walked into the kitchen to clean herself up again.
Othilli was...'excited'. These events were currently making it feel the human 'excited' and that was good! All these abominations were of a similar size, and a similar age, and most of them wanted to stay here with it! Well, they wanted to stay, maybe not with Othilli but that was okay! Surely one of these abominations would become its friend.
One was telling scary stories. Maybe it?
One was engaged in discussion about minerals. Maybe that one! Or the one partnered up with Gül'lcra'agg, skulking in the corner...maybe not them. The one complaining about being there? Ew, no, Othilli wanted someone who wanted to be there. Hmm, what about that one? The one transforming objects into other objects? Looked fun. Othilli would go over there and make a friend.
There were so many abominations there, and there was so much to do with them all! This was kind of like one of those things humans did, right? Where they shared a house and slept in the same room? A sleepover! That was what it was called.
Othilli went over to the abomination which was making tiny lizards and joined in the fun.
