Jacenty leaned against the bar and picked his teeth absently. He was bored, and it was hardly even nine O'clock yet. The bar was too quiet, the patrons were nothing special and his blood itched for something exciting to happen. This was all Drakes fault, go see the world in human form he’d said, have some fun, find a nice guy and mess around a bit. Jace snorted to himself and slugged back the last of the fruity drink he’d ordered, wishing that intoxication was even a remote possibility for him. All the sugary, alcohol laden drinks he’d consumed had done was make him need to relieve himself.
Pushing himself lazily off the bar he sauntered over to the rest rooms, which were opposite the entrance to the nightclub. Even they weren’t crowded, perhaps Mondays weren’t actually a social day for humans? He pushed the bathroom door open and wandered in, snorting at his reflection in the long mirror hung over the row of sinks. He was tall, and lean, wearing a tight white tee-shirt and slim fit jeans rolled at the cuffs so they left the tops of his boots exposed. He smirked at himself, watching his violet eyes flash and ran a hand through his dark purple hair. Huffing, the smile vanished and he used the facilities, washing his hands afterwards, all with a petulant frown. So Bored!
As he was coming out of the rest-room, contemplating trying another bar or just giving up and going back home, his attention was caught by a shorter, stocky figure in black, slipping through the entrance across from him. Finally, someone interesting! He jammed his hands in his pockets and sauntered back to the bar. Doing his best to ooze nonchalance he hoped that his intended target couldn’t hear how fast his twin hearts were beating.
The dark figure pointedly ignored him and slid onto a stool, waving at the bartender.
“Hey Nico, can I get my usual.”
The bartender gave him the thumbs up, and started mixing the cocktail as soon as he’d finished serving the other customers in front of him. Sliding the drink over Nico wiped at an invisible blemish off the bar surface.
“You staying long tonight Bastion?”
Bastion sipped his drink and side-eyed Jace who was unabashedly eavesdropping with an intent look on his face.
“Depends mate, depends.”
“On what?” Jace couldn’t help blurting out
Bastion gave him the kind of grin that either left you weak at the knees or running home for mummy. Jace felt his knees go weak and licked his lips.
“Oh” he managed to breathe.
Nico snorted and went to serve another customer. Bastion spun on his stool to face Jace, giving him his first real look at the man. He was wearing a black tee shirt with some writing on it, ripped black jeans and dark sneakers, there wasn’t an ounce of fat on his heavily muscled frame and Jace licked his lips nervously again. Bastion’s hair was combed forward across his face and had a single streak of dark blue through it. His eyes were ringed with some black substance that made them look larger and even more smoky, and Jace found himself unable to look away from their black depths, mesmerised and leaning in closer.
A sharp pain on his forehead made him shift back quickly to see Bastion lowering his hand. He’d flicked his forehead? Jace glowered at him, nobody treated him like that!
“Slow down there fella.” Bastion’s voice was smoothly amused.
“Huh?” Jace continued to frown, the itch to do something making him wonder if starting a fight would be enough excitement to sate him.
Bastion smirked and rubbed his leg against Jace’s.
“I never kiss a guy without knowing his name first,” his dark eyes sparkled with suppressed laughter.
“Oh.. Jacenty.. Jace, you can call me Jace.” It came out as an embarrassed mumble. Had he really looked like he was going to kiss him? Well, he might have, he was ..very .. Interesting.
“Nice to meet you Jace, I’m Bastion.” The man purred his reply and Jace shivered, gods he was..Interesting.
Jace fumbled for what to say next, his eyes straying to Bastion’s dark ones and getting lost there again.
Bastion snorted and finished his drink in one long swallow.
“God you’ve got it bad, come on then, your place or mine?”
“Y..yours” Jace stuttered, his wasn’t an option, seeing as how mortals weren’t exactly welcome there.
Bastion took his hand, his grip cool against Jace’s hot skin, and led him out, taking a taxi back to his apartment.
Standing in Bastion’s living room Jace twitched uncomfortably, he had no idea what to do next, what was expected of him, this was such unfamiliar territory. Why had Drake told him to do this? He huffed and ran his fingers through his hair waiting for Bastion to return from wherever he’d run off to. A noise behind him made him spin, ready to fight, but it was just Bastion with a couple of steaming mugs in his hand.
“Coffee,” he elaborated as he handed one over.
Jace sniffed it cautiously, it smelt rich and bitter, sipping he let the taste swirl around his mouth. Satisfied he gulped the rest of the beverage, enjoying the warmth, and handed the empty cup back.
Bastion raised an eyebrow and blew on his cup, sipping cautiously.
“Wasn’t too hot for you?” he queried.
Jace shook his head. “It was nice, thank you.”
Bastion indicted the large black couch.
“Have a seat, tell me about yourself.”
Jace flopped bonelessly onto the sofa and ran his hands through his hair nervously. What was he supposed to say to that, did you go round telling humans what you really were, or was he supposed to have some clever lie all thought up for this kind of occasion?
“Uhh.. What do you want to know?”
“Where do you come from? What do you do for a living? Just anything you want to share really.” Bastion seemed so at ease and Jace fidgeted under his scrutiny, the itch to blow off steam becoming harder and harder to ignore.
“Well, I ah.. Come from a long way away, and I’m sort of between jobs right now.”
Bastions eyes narrowed slightly and he hummed for a moment as he placed both cups on the coffee table before replying.
“I work as a bouncer at the bar we met at. Actually Nico called me to ask if I’d come and do something about you. You see, it’s not humanly possible for someone to drink as much as you did in the time you did and still be as sober as you are, which is, very sober, isn’t it?”
Jace nodded dumbly, he’d really cocked that one up.
“So, how about you start again Jacenty, assuming that’s your real name, and tell me where you come from and what you are.”
Jace whined under his breath and squirmed.
“I..I’m not sure I’m allowed? Maybe I should just go?”
Bastion moved faster than Jace could blink, pinning him down on the couch, his chest flush against Jace’s, his hands holding Jace’s above his head, his knees trapping Jace’s legs down.
“Nooo, I don’t think so, I think I want to have a little fun first, whatever you are.”
Jace swallowed, finding his eyes drawn again to Bastions dark mesmerising orbs.
“That’s better,” Bastion purred, “you’re so easy, easier by far than any human I’ve done this too, so tell me, what are you?”
“I, ah.. Dragon.. I’m a Dragon.” Jace licked his lips, resisting the urge to press himself closer to Bastion, still enraptured by his eyes.
Bastion blinked and sat back, breaking eye contact with Jace, who pouted like a child deprived of candy.
“Well that’s a new one on me, didn’t even think dragons were real.. Huh, whadyaknow.” He muttered to himself.
Jace tried to pull Bastion back closer to him, but it was like trying to shift a building with a soggy tissue. He growled in annoyance and huffed petulantly.
Bastion sniggered.
“You have got it sooo bad, doncha?”
“Got what?” Jace whined.
“Mmmm.. Well, there’s only one way to cure it.. I don’t need you following me like a lost puppy for however long it is dragons live, that’d be a heck of a buzzkill, know what I mean?”
“No.. No I don’t.” Jace shifted uncomfortably, his skin itching now from the need to be doing something, anything!
Bastion rested a hand on Jace’s chest.
“I thought I could hear two heartbeats, is that why you fall twice as easy?”
“What do you mean?” Jace was starting to get angry now, his body thrumming with tension that had to be released one way or another.
Bastion tisked.
“You really have no idea what I am, do you?”
Jace blinked, wishing this form had an inner eyelid he could half lower to show his confusion.
“I.. Thought you were human?”
Bastion chuckled, and leaned in closer to Jace.
“God no, not even slightly.” Bastion peeled his top lip back and let his feeding teeth slide down.
Jace, stared at them curiously, then lifted a hand and stroked one delicately with his fingertip, Bastion shivered.
“What are they for?”
Bastion leaned his head on Jace’s chest giggling.
“God you’re fucking adorable!”
He lifted his head again and smirked at Jace, fangs still showing.
“They are for feeding with.”
Jace looked at them critically.
“They’re not very big, what kind of prey could you eat with those?”
Bastion snorted then shook his head, bemused.
“Even when I break the mesmer you’re still not the slightest bit afraid of me, are you?”
Jace frowned, confused.
“Should I be?”
Bastion leaned in closer, his breath hot on Jace’s face.
“Yeah, you probably should be.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m going to bite you, silly.”
Jace stared at Bastion, avoiding his eyes this time, and licked his lips.
“Am I supposed to not like that?”
Bastion dissolved into another fit of giggles gasping, “cute, fucking adorably cute,” between fits.
Jace huffed, not getting the joke.
“So.. What are you then?” he grumbled.
Bastion slowly sobered, sitting up and smirked down at Jace.
“Nosferatu.”
Jace gave him a blank look.
“Dracul?” Bastion tried again.
Jace shook his head.
“Vampire, blood sucker?”
Jace eyed him like he was speaking another language and shrugged.
Pinching the bridge of his nose Bastion regarded Jace.
“I want to drink your blood, after biting you.”
“Oh!..Okay.” Jace gave him a shy smile.
“You’re.. Okay with that?”
“… should I not be?” Jace’s face wrinkled in confusion.
“Generally.. No.” Bastion sighed and licked his teeth, sitting back and staring down at the man still pinned under him.
“So..are you going to?.. Bite me?” Jace was trying to catch Bastion’s eyes again, with a sort of antsy determination.
“Do you actually want me to?” Bastion rubbed his face, clearly out of his depth with this most willing victim.
“Can I bite you back?” Jace squirmed under Bastion.
“What? No, of course not!” Bastion recoiled a little.
“Why not? If you can do it to me, why can’t I do it to you?” Jace was pouting, bottom lip quivering.
“Because it doesn’t work that way, okay!” Bastion rubbed his temples.
“So what can I do?” Jace tried to sit up a little but Bastion laid his palm on his chest and pushed him back down.
“Lie there and enjoy it.”
“Oh…. OH!” Jace blushed suddenly and stopped trying to resist the firm palm in the middle of his chest. Finally, something was going to happen.
Bastion shook his head and bit back more laughter.
Bastion leaned in, and Jace found himself lost in his eyes again, his whole body quivering with anticipation as Bastions face got closer.
At first the kiss was soft and gentle, and Jace whined in frustration, making Bastion chuckle before he deepened it, making it rougher and more demanding. A slight pinch on his lip preceded Bastion sucking on it, leaving Jace squirming in pleasure under him.
Bastion pulled away with a curse.
“What, the..” He wiped his mouth and stared down at the still breathless and flushed Jace, two beads of ruby red blood sitting on Jace’s lower lip.
Jace slowly became aware the object of his attention had moved away from him and growled in annoyance, licking the blood off his lip while staring up at Bastion.
Bastion sucked his teeth and peered down at Jace in wonder.
“What are you?” he shivered, reaching out and rubbing his thumb over Jace’s bottom lip.
Jace huffed at him.
“I told you, I’m a dragon.”
“Yeah.. But.. Wow..” Bastion leaned in again, “you taste… amazing, like bottled energy.” He shook his head “I’ve never had anything like that, so potent, I hardly had more than a mouthful and I’m sated.”
Jace grumbled and squirmed, he wasn’t sated by a long shot, and he was really going to lose his mind if Bastion didn’t stop teasing him like this.
Bastion smirked at him.
“I guess you’re not so easy to get rid of huh?”
Jace reached his hands up and grabbed Bastions face, pulling him back down, while Bastion chuckled and let him.
Jace woke as the sun rose, still tangled in Bastions sheets, and Bastion too, his arms firmly wound around Jace’s waist, and a leg thrown over him trapping him. Jace didn’t mind, the itchy buzz was finally silenced, and he still found Bastion, very.. Interesting.
Epilogue:
Bastion picked at the pastry he’d bought, his foot rubbing Jace’s leg as Jace practically inhaled the food set in front of him. Being in human form hadn’t diminished any of his appetites at all.
“You never did tell me why you’re here luv? Like, I’ve never met a dragon before, or even heard of them as anything but myths, so I’m curious.” Bastion smiled across the cafe table at Jace.
Jace paused mid chew, and then swallowed hastily.
“Oh.. Drake told me to come, I think I was annoying him actually.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well… it’s, uh… kinda embarrassing.”
“Go on luv, I promise I won’t laugh.”
“It’s just… I’m just… not Interested in other dragons, and I get… difficult when I’m frustrated and bored.” Jace stared at his plate, pushing the food around.
“Oh.. Ohhhh..,” Bastion paused for a moment, sucking his lower lip, ”But you’re interested in me..right?”
Jace gave him a radiant smile.
“Oh Yes! You’re the most Interesting person I’ve ever met!”
Bastion returned the smile with one of his own.
“Good, good, I’m glad, I was worried you might want to go home soon.”
Jace slid his hand across the table and grasped Bastion’s one.
“I’d much rather stay here with you.”
Bastion squeezed Jace’s hand.
“I’d much rather you did that too.”
