We silently sat inside the car as Chase maneuvered the vehicle. Althea insisted to transfer in front with Ed on the front seat even though it was cramped but they didn’t mind. In the middle of the vehicle, Aria, Blanche and Sif helped each other to mend Lea’s wound. The process became less painful to watch as Sif sedated Lea with her powers. Gabriel shrinked the bullet inside Lea, making it easier to pull. As for me, I was at the back with Flint and Gabriel. We didn’t talk but Gabriel offered us some chips, but we politely declined. It was awkward, but Gabriel seemed to not mind.

A few more minutes passed, and we arrived on an abandoned warehouse. The roof, doors and all are covered with rust. The location is within a thick cluster of trees and there is no road that connects the site from the main road. Lea’s asleep now and Chase carried her on his back and hurried inside.

“She’ll be okay” Gabriel said. “One of our friends here, Rafael will know what to do. For the meantime, come with me.”

“Are you guys also--” Althea asked but she was cut off by Gabriel’s answer.

“Yes. We are all Neogens. However, unlike you, we are more adept in using our powers. Let’s go. Ask your questions later.” Gabriel said. His tone was cold.

We came inside the warehouse and found lots of crates, destroyed wooden boxes and many kinds of rubbish. As we turned around a huge metal crate, a hidden, old elevator was there. We boarded and slowly descended. As we reached the right floor, a strong, white light covered the room. The room was well-lit, huge and is all-white. Nothing is in the room except for a fireplace, light, a simple white living room set and a door that must have connected to a different room.

At the sofa, a girl, about 13 years old sat and waved to us happily.

“Hi. I’m Maddie” She said then waved her hand. I felt a tingling pressure in my skin. I looked at the others and saw them looked puzzled as I. On the other hand, I saw Maddie flinched. It’s as if an unseen force came inside us.

“Felt that? Sorry about that. I have to turn off your powers for the mean time. None of us would appreciate if one of you would suddenly go on a rampage. We won’t hurt you so please trust us. Also--” Maddie said.

“Madison” a middle-aged lady with a regal look came out of the door. “Let’s not make our guests feel uncomfortable. Okay?” She said, her voice is soft. Maddie smiled and ran to the door.

“I am Lorraine. I’m sorry about Maddie’s words but she’s right. Please come with me.” She said.

“Gabe, please make sure everything’s fine outside first. Okay?” Lorraine eyed Gabe. He nodded and went back to the elevator.

None of us talked as we followed Lorraine.

“I’m sorry about your friend Lea. She must be fine now. Rafael must’ve already tended her wounds. I’ll show you where Lea and please wait for Julius to come. Won’t take long.” Lorraine said.

As we entered the infirmary, we already saw Lea on a medical cot. Her shoulder was already bandaged and a guy with a green hair with a large, circular glasses sat beside her. Aria and Blanche ran to her side. Lorraine touched me on my left shoulder and whispered “I’ll go out now. Please wait here”. I nodded gratefully.

As I watched Lorraine went out of the door, I saw my friends circling around Lea’s cot and is talking to the green-haired guy. I went to them to hear what’s up.

“Rafael, thank you so much for healing Lea.” Aria said, her two hands wrapped Lea’s right hand. Rafael smiled and replied “Not much of a wound though, but good thing Gabe shrinked the bullet. By the looks on her wound, I can see that the bullet used is not normal-shaped. Nonetheless, she’s safe now.”

Maddie came with a tray of food and handed us sandwiches and more. We gladly ate the food and as we were finished eating, Lea woke up. We were happy to see her okay. She ate as we took turns telling Maddie and Rafael our adventures starting from the train wreckage. As Maddie and Rafael looked excited listening on our stories, Lorraine came back and told us to come with her. Rafael and Maddie came along.

Lorraine brought us to a study room. The room is nicely-lit, with a fireplace and shelves. A man, looking about Trent’s age sat on his chair while reading something. He nodded when he saw us. He removed his monocle and closed his book as Lorraine told us seat on the couch in front of the man’s table.

“I am Julius” He started, looking at us one-by-one. “I’ll not make this any more complicated. I am the leader of this group, called 'Exorgs', short for Ex-Organization. All of us here, except for Maddie and Rafael are a former member of the Organization. As you might have known, we detached ourselves from that place as we cannot stomach the Organization’s corruption anymore.” He paused.

“I am not sure if you are the lucky ones or us, but as told by Chase, they found you when they are scouting the nearby areas. Chase told me how powerful you guys are and I would like to know more about it – if would permit it.” Julius added. His tone was serious, yet convincing in an odd way.

“Thank you for saving us, sir. But we don’t know what’s going on. We are a group of Circus performers who has been separated from our group and just as we are about to meet them, we were attacked by people; people like us” Althea answered.

“Those must be the Mercenaries from the organization. They tend to snatch kids at your age, brainwash them and either use them as a human experiment or let them do the dirty work for them. They run in packs and I must say, I am impressed that you we able to survive on your own – of course, before Gabe and Chase came.” Julius said. He stood up and faced the fireplace.

“I’m sad that you are in the sight of the organization by now. As much as I want to put you out from their radar, I believe that your powers attracted them. One of them must have seen one of you before, reported them and watched you closely until they can take you. From what I know, they usually make a scene where people would think that the kids that they want to take dies from an accident. How are you separated from your friends?” Julius asked.

We let Althea do the talking. She narrated how we were separated and what followed after that – from the Mercenaries to until when Chase and Gabriel found us. Julius, Lorraine, Rafael and Maddie patiently listened.

“So you’re Trent and Arthur’s comrades eh? Interesting. I didn't know that they were running a Circus now.” Julius said when Althea finished.

“Do you know them sir?” Sif asked Julius.

“I was with them when we escaped the nobility, and I’ll let them tell you their story, but I’m glad that they are still alive. For now, I’m happy that you are safe” Julius answered.

“I can see that these children are strong. Maybe half of them are at a Primus level and the other half can be a Secundus. I’m not sure, but judging from the capabilities that they have shown based on their story, especially at that age is not just some other news. Julius?” Lorraine said.

“I agree” Julius answered.

“Not only that, repressing their powers are hard. Up until now, It feels like am trying to hug a tree, especially for them” Maddie said, then pointing at me, Aria, Lea and Ed one-by-one.

Julius was silent, but he kept looking at us one-by-one as if analyzing a puzzle inside his head.

“Healing Lea is easier than I thought. You know healing is my forte, but her body responded to it better than most of the wounds I healed. Plus, she’s awake now. If you ask me, healing this kind of would plus some recovery time would most likely take a whole day.” Rafael answered. He looked at Lea as he talked. We were all silent for a couple of seconds.

A knock on the door broke the silence and I heard a female voice, asking if she could enter.

“It’s Lilith. Please, do come in.” Lorraine said.

“Please tell them about my eyes first” Lilith said before entering.

“Uh yes, children, please don’t stare at Lilith’s eyes. Three seconds of stare and you won’t like what will happen” Lorraine said.

Lilith came in as Lorraine spoke. The lady looked like a young scientist. I took a fast glance and saw right away that her eyes looked normal except it is bright red and would take anyone’s attention even with a short glance. It’s like you are in a dark place and a small, red orb was lit in the midst of darkness – that’s how catchy her eyes are.

“Hi. I’m Lilith. Pleased to meet you all.” Lilith introduced herself. She went straight ahead at our back. I saw her sat beside Rafael.

Julius took a deep breath and started talking “Anyway, since we are introducing ourselves, I think you also deserve to know us. I and Lilith are both Psychics while Lorraine, Gabriel and Madison are Mystics. Chase is a Transcender. As of now, we are working to get stronger by campaigning for people like us and to overthrow the Organization as soon as we can. I will, of course, will let you decide but will persuade you to join us. I will also be straight to you- It would be my pleasure to meet your Ring Master Trent, and the others who were left in the Circus.”

I am starting to have a headache. It’s as if my brain is having a hard time processing the things that we just have learned.

“I’ll let you stay in for the mean time and let you decide. I apologize but I have some more work to do. Lorraine will answer your questions and will also escort you to your quarters.” Julius said, dismissing us all.
