yawned turning over in my bed no matter what I did, I couldn't sleep. His words haunting me. I heard a knock at my door
Knock Knock Knock
but I didn't move another followed louder
Knock Knock Knock
I still didn't move, frightened of anyone and everyone I didn't care who was at my door I didn't want to see them
Knock Knock Knock
It came again those three knocks taunting me, each knock made the scar on my skin burn as if it were fresh
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
this time a pounding on my door, I shrunk into my bedsheet trying almost to hide the house as quietly as a mouse. Perhaps whoever it is has gone at last till I heard another knocking this one made me jump out of my bed
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
I fell from my bed onto the rug below tears welling up in my eyes I waited for twenty whole minutes before getting up and walking down the staircase I saw a note in my door I checked my peephole knowone there so I grabbed the note it was in a little envelope no stamp or return address just my name written beautifully in blue ink.
Felicity Warren
I opened the letter mostly from curiosity and I wish I hadn't
“Dearest Felicity, Why are you not responding to my messages? Why are you not responding to my calls? Have you blocked me? Or did they make you? I want to see you, I want you to come over tonight for dinner, we need to talk about what happened last week. You can't ignore me forever my love. If you will not open up to me in some way then I will find my own way to make you listen to me.
I love you So much
Arthur X”
I took the letter wrapping it apart in my hands letting the tiny bits of paper fall onto my floor as tears ran down my face I collected up every last tiny head and burnt them on my fire the flames destroying his inked words. I went around Bolting every window and door in the hopes of resting easy. But that didn't come
The next few days were like living in hell. Every morning when I woke up, a letter on my door. Every time I had my breakfast a letter in my door, Every lunchtime a letter in my door, every dinner time a letter in my door and every night before I went to bed another letter in my door all reading the same that he was desperate to see me. And it got worse I stepped down in the morning expecting a letter poked through my letterbox but there was a pile where they had been put through my letterbox a little pile on the floor it must have had twenty, thirty letters maybe more I made notes when the letters arrived as Peter told me to do every hour on the top of the hour another ten to twenty letters pushed through my little letterbox I didn't read and I just threw them on my fire I caught the edge of one as it burnt away
“I loved you, I trusted you, Rot in Hell.
Arthur”
I saw more and more letters start to flood my floor and then one just on its own hanging from my door I picked that one up worried but opening it it wasn't done in the nice blue ink with his sweet handwriting this was done in red a dark red darker then any ink I had seen he has written it... In blood.
“Dear Felicity, I am giving you One last chance. Meet with me Alone at my house for dinner tonight just the two of us. Or else. You are MY girlfriend and you need to come home. Nothing bad will happen I promise you, you're my Sweetheart. What on this earth makes you think I would ever hurt you? Please, Just one night it's all I ask. And all this will stop
Love Arthur”
I knew I couldn't meet with him if I did I would likely die or worse so I locked up the house as tight as I could have dinner and went to bed.
That morning I wished I had gone. There where at least one hundred letters in my little letterbox I took them all and threw them on the fireplace quickly lighting them the smoke rushing up my chimney I saw one burn and felt my life flash before my eyes
“I GAVE YOU A CHANCE! YOU USED UP YOUR CHANCES! I AM COMING FOR YOU FELICITY!”
I got a bit of wood from my garden and my little drill I screwed the wood to the letterbox so not a single letter could get in I breathed a sigh of relief at last and I rang Peter
“Felicity? Are you alright?” he asked
“he's coming for me... he gave me a chance, now he says he's coming for me” I cried
“two minutes felicity” he says I hung up the phone and sat with my back against wall trying to breathe and not cry I heard a knock on my door and I screamed “It's me Felicity, Its peter” he says I got up rushing to my door I checked my peephole and it was him so I quickly let him in “Felicity, this was in your mailbox outside” he says handing me a letter I didn't take It I just locked the door and ran to my kitchen to make coffee I heard the ripping off paper
“Dearest Felicity, My one Truest Love. I have tried to be kind to you and sweet to you. But you have taken this kindness and restored it. You will be mine. And I will be yours. Twenty four Hours for you to come to me... willingly. Or else I will take it upon myself to make you come to me By force.” he read “Are they all like this?” he asked and I nodded “You should have called me earlier” He says putting the letter in a little bag to take back to the station “how have ya been doing?” he asks putting his hand on my shoulder but I flinched away “Felicity, you need to get out of this house for a while” He says
“No, I can't leave the house it's not safe out there,” I tell him
“Felicity! You're not safe in here! Worried he's going to find you out there, he has found you in here he knows your here, he's got you trapped here all he has to do is find a way in. Felicity, you have to leave the house” He says
Knock Knock Knock
my door shook on its hinges as the knocks tapped the wood I froze unsure what to do peter left and stood by the door with his Gun
“POLICE! MR WARREN YOU BANG ON THAT DOOR ONCE MORE I AM ARRESTING YOU!” He yelled and the knocking stopped we both relaxed a moment before I heard a knocking on my back door the light outside clicked on as it sensed the movement of a person out there I saw there silhouette through the frosted glass as there hand banged on the door “MR WARREN ONCE MORE I WILL BE PLACING YOU UNDER ARREST AND WILL BE TAKING YOU TO THE STATION!” he yelled and the knocking stopped the figure moving away my light going off I heard laughing that voice that horrible voice
“Ohh will you... big talk little policeman. Ohhh felicity” it called I wanted to scream or run and hide I didn't know which
“Felicity come here,” Peter told me and I ran to him holding his hand
“Hummm... so she is in there” Arthur's voice smirked I couldn't tell where it was coming from it sounded like from everywhere “Felicity..... Felicity” he calls “Come out come out and Play” he smirked “FFFFEEEEELLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTYYYYYYYY” He calls
“The vents?” Peter says “Where's the main vent come out of the house?” I ask
“it... it comes out through the basement” I stutter and we both realized where he must have been
“Hummmmm darling.... come on Felicity” I heard him call
“Run” Peter told me grabbing his stuff and making a break for the door I heard footsteps running up from my basement I unlocked the door and we ran for his car quickly jumping in and locking it as I stopped for breath I noticed my postbox was filled with letters filled to the bursting point and had now been lit on fire he started up the car and we began to drive away I saw Arthur bloody and stressed leaning on my open door “get a team here now! I need full back up, someone please detain that man I don't care how just get him in a cell in the station as quick as humanly possible” he yelled into a radio as we scurried away and police cars began running to my house as we left “We are moving you, right now you can't stay there for your own safety we are moving your” he says
“Can you ask them to get my things? Please, I don't have much at that house but I would like to keep it if I can?” I ask
“Course felicity” He smiles telling the radio people that too he took me to the station and I sat in the little room having a coffee till Peter came back
“Did they-” I began but he shook his head
“he was gone, but they got all your stuff out every last bit, all your clothes, your teddy bear, everything you need. They've taken it to your new Flat, close to work, it's high up, secretive, good security you'll be safe there” he says and I nodded I know this drill well enough by now time to restart my life... again.
