Schuyler- February Senior Year
Schuyler got three candy grams that day and truth be told he was feeling himself a little. He even got one from Stephanie Mayfield who proudly wrote her full name on the paper and even blew him a kiss when their eyes met as she was writing her note after paying her two dollars. But then Sky looked at the third one asking him to meet him at locker b37 after school. He'd never had a girl do something like that. Even Stephanie Mayfield who wrote her full name on her candy grams had never done something so mysterious and Schuyler felt compelled to follow the little heart shaped piece of paper's message.
The halls were empty save for a boy leaning against his lockers in silence. That couldn't be right... It was Jeremy Kwan, with his loose fitting sweaters that always showed a little of his collar bone whenever he leaned too far forward. Schuyler may or may not have found himself staring at the boy a few times in art class. The only reason he was in the class was cause he needed an elective for his last year. Sky wasn't opposed to the notion that this boy had spent money out of his own pocket to buy candy for him but that was the problem. He wasn't supposed to feel that way towards any guy, even if they had feminine lips and nice collar bones that they showed off with loose fitting sweaters that hid their small frames. Besides Jeremy was a sophmore.
"You came?" Jeremy mumbled, looking up from staring at his stylish boots. He wasn't wearing his nerd glasses today and honestly Sky always thought they made him look cuter.
"Uh yeah." Schuyler nodded, holding up his note. "Got your little message. So...?"
Visibly gulping Jeremy reached up and nearly poked himself in the eye before shaking his head and silently scolding himself before mumbling. "Ugh.. how do people normally do this?"
"Do what?" Sky asked, running his fingers through his hair, glancing at the row of lockers to his left before glancing back towards the boy in front of him.
"I- I really like and you're probably really grossed out at me and you're probably gonna tell all your friends about this later so you can laugh at me but at least I tried. I mean- you were flirting with- or I thought you were flirting and you're really nice and you're really cute," Jeremy babbled, face flushing as his eyes met Sky's.
"You think I'm cute?" Sky asked, smiling to himself at the thought as Jeremy froze to the spot. "If I'm being honest I think you're cute too... but I don't know if..."
"You don't like me like that... do you?" Jeremy mumbled, casting his eyes to the ground.
"I mean... if I'm being honest, can I tell you something I've never told anyone else," Sky said, moving forward to stand at Jeremy's side. Leaning against the lockers he looked down at the boy who nodded, looking confused but intrigued. Smiling down at his feet Sky said, "I think I might be gay or something."
Not blinking Jeremy nodded his head, leaving Schuyler doubtful but he continued. "To be honest I do kinda like you but I'm not sure I could ever see myself with another guy. I hope I'm not hurting your feelings cause I'm not trying to I've just been really confused and I've tried talking to my mom and dad but I don't think they'll understand and... I actually think that you're really hot."
He didn't mean to blurt it out but seeing the confused look on Jeremy's face deepen he felt he oughta own up to whatever it was he was feeling. Jeremy wasn't the first boy whom Schuyler Frye had ever found so captivating but this was the first time that boy had ever felt similar feelings towards him. Truth be told Sky admired the boy, for his art, his kindness, and his bravery cause if he were in his shoes Sky would have simply surpressed all feelings for the boy like he'd been doing the past few months since starting the art class.
"You think I'm... you think I'm hot?" Jeremy finally stuttered, face flushing as his lips curved into a smile.
"Hell yeah. I mean, I'd never have the guts to do what you're doing, Jeremy. Honestly why are you doing this? If it were anyone else they'd give you all kinds of shit for this or even beat you up." Schuyler frowned. He didn't want to admit it but he cared what other people thought of him and being seen as gay wasn't something he wanted people thinking of him. Cause then he wasn't just gay but he was a fag who deserved to be bullied. "Actually... Jeremy are you free any time this weekend?"
"Y-yeah. Why?" Jeremy hooked a strand of his short black hair behind one ear.
"I work at the skating rink here in town and I can get you in for free, if you want to..."
"Yes!" Jeremy sputtered, nodding his head at Schuyler. "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes."
"Okay," Sky chuckled, reaching over to caress Jeremy's cheek. Instantly going quiet Jeremy stood still as Sky leaned in, face flushing as they both let their eyes flutter closed.
Jeremy's lips were just as soft as Sky had imagined. It was like a dream that had Sky wishing he could live in the moment forever with the feel of Jeremy's lips imprinted in his being. Jeremy kissed back with a slow unsureness that Sky couldn't help but laugh at once they finally pulled apart.
"Okay... wow." Jeremy whispered, leaning into Sky's touch.
Licking his lips Sky nodded before taking his hand back and slipping it into his pocket. "Ahem- yeah. So I'll meet you there, Friday at eight. Is that alright?"
"Sure." Jeremy dreamily nodded back.
"Alright," Sky back pedaled away. "I gotta go... see you tomorrow."
Sky didn't care that he would have to walk home, he was too busy lifting a finger to touch his lips as he made his way through the parking lot to care. He was taking Jeremy out on a date. Schuyler Frye was going out on a date with a cute boy with soft lips and nice collar bones who smelled like vanilla and always had a pencil in his back pocket just in case. The only thing that could ruin his mood was the inevitable thought that he'd have to lie to his parents about all of this once he got home.
