Furries

WAFB Baton Rouge 2007

WAFB Baton Rouge 2007

Feb 17, 2019

So yes, I'm taking a bit of inspiration from Aberguine and going to dissect this news broadcast.

"They are furry and up to no good. Might wanna watch your kids around these characters," says a news reporter. Right off the bat, this gives people the wrong impression, maybe even the worst impression to something they've never seen before.

The TV cuts to another man defining furries as "people... who like to dress up like animals and get together". Again, this is an improper definition although it is somewhat true. I've said before in my previous chapters that furries are people who take interest in fictional animals who exhibit human qualities like intelligence, facial expressions, and walking upright. Only around 12% of the fandom owns a fursuit. But of course, the cameras go to the fursuiters because no one wants to see normal people just enjoying themselves.

The broadcast goes to interview a few random people essentially saying "that's weird" for what I assume to be confirmation that this convention in Tennessee was in fact not normal. I have a few sneaking suspicions on how they edited one man saying "I'm a professional werewolf" in a manner that comes off to me in a joking way, but was cut off as he cracked a smile. It was immediately transitioned to "It feels good actually. I like the way it feels", in which we can assume he means being in the fandom, not being a werewolf like the media seems to make viewers want to believe.

"They're called furries, furry fans, or simply furs. Each has a fursona or furry alter ego." This is probably the most accurate thing they've said in an entire minute and twenty seconds. The female reporter says that this is one of the largest conventions and that most furs come from across the country which is also true.

"They love living like an animal," she continues. Furries are just normal people with normal jobs who live fairly normal lives. There are very few who live like animals and most of them are therians (people who believe they have an animal spirit).

"Furries occasionally stroke each other." In the video clip shown you can clearly see that this man is taking a picture with a reindeer fursuiter and just patting their arm. He's stroking the fur, he's not doing anything wrong, just taking a picture. "And there are furpiles like the one at this dance." The video clip shows fursuiters laying on top of one another. The only movement that can be seen in this clip are the kicking of feet paws and another fursuiter standing over the pile, ready to crush everyone under the writhing mass of fur.

"Some furries even bring their children to furmeets." In Aberguine's review, she slaps her paws to her face and mockingly cries "Oh! The humanity! We can't expose the children to cartoon animals!"

The reporter goes on to say that there are few women in the fandom which is true, but is also true in our day-to-day lives where men are more abundant in schools, countries, other fandoms, jobs and what have you. Only around 20% of the fandom is female. 25% if you count gender-fluid or transgender people.

The reporter says each animal represents something different to the community which is true. I, myself, have written about foxes and what they mean to a part of the fandom.

"What do they get out of it?" Well, in the beginning, this convention space was where people would trade or purchase art, dance, and socialize with people who have the same interests as you. The fandom is very close and (usually) treat it's members like family. Even in the start of the fandom, the Sci-Fi fans and Anime fans kicked furries out of the convention space. This pulled everyone closer and when furries realized they could only rely on each other. This eventually led to the physical greeting of a hug rather than a handshake, especially to fursuiters since they were soft and get most of the attention.

The reporter goes on and on until she mentions something about having safe and consensual relations with a person where yes, the convention had a lesson on using the proper safety precautions because it's important. People do this in schools and lecture 16 year old students and the like as well so why is it so strange for people to remind 19-25 year old people?

The woman continues to say that the convention allowed back scratches and hugging but not so much kissing. This is just normal etiquette in public. No one would do that to someone in a supermarket. No one would do it in a library. No one would do it in a mall.

The video clip cuts back to the furpile on the floor, in what I assume is the broadcast's attempt to imply that something else was happening in there. The fursuiters aren't moving very much besides what I've said before, flailing feet and one standing up, squashing everyone with their hands.

"We've gotten our share of bad publicity," a fur says ironically. He then mentions how lewd things tend to draw more attention and that's why the media tags furry as perverse. He goes on to say he's proud of our charity work. That year, that convention raised $9,000 dollars or so for a tiger sanctuary.

"Whether it's fun or a fetish, behind the animal urges, furries say they're just normal people having a good time." This unnecessary mentioning of fetish which now leads viewers to believe that furry and fetish are synonymous. And yes, furries are just average people. Engineers, doctors, teachers, police men and women, artists, retail workers, students... Furries are everywhere.

"--Who just happens to like dressing up along with hundreds of his furry friends." As Aberguine has said in her review, around 600 people showed up to this con and only around 100 were in a fursuit.

The screen returns to the second male reporter who is handed a waste bin as if he was going to puke. "I think I need a bath after that," he comments. He is then handed hand-sanitizer. "Here at the help desk we can also help you out with that," his friend comments. They banter about the costumes and try to poke fun by saying things along the lines of "bring the kids, this is a totally family friendly event" in a sarcastic tone.

I don't think there is anything else I can say about this besides the news broadcast was clearly trying to gain a few viewers by showing something totally new and weird, misinterpreting it, defining it their own way, and trying to imply something that clearly wasn't there. In my opinion, I actually like these people more than the three reporters that covered the MFF chlorine bombing since they didn't laugh at the fact 19 people were hospitalized. The report could've been better though, by actually asking if anything really happened and digging deeper.

People are blocking me from places to be able to communicate. Alt Furries are not doing that. Leftist minds emulating the church are doing that. The church caused Hitler to be. Jesus will not do that. People who respond with blocking will have nothing in their head, thus having no ability to counsel anyone letting their emotions rule them.
Whoever thinks that there are many races will have the potential to be a Hitler thinking their race is better than any another. The church that came here in 1492 planted the thought of many races in the minds of people. That is a lie. That lie make Muslims think that they are better by reason of a name. That makes people to seek a vain thing. Muslims, and church, wants us to war against each other, and sexuality names, and war against the nude form, and sex that made life to exist. Furries need to stop waring. Public needs to stop tormenting furries, and zoos and pedo's and people who draw nudes of all ages and people who write erotic novels thinking they are doing God a service. Fornicating people are like Christ's fault finding, death loving enemies. Be balanced in the way you think. Cartoons being modified to have the parts, doing the same things. Balls on the Bugs bunny cartoon bull will not harm anyone. Bugs might even be able to tame the bull by touching him there, giving the bull pleasure, making him to roll over like a trusting puppy dog. Furries need to stop fighting. Hitler fought against others. The Public needs to stop making furries who like normal things to feel uncomfortable. Jesus will not do that. I say the truth as it is and I am called evil? That is what people did to Paul. I am Counseling both sides, and yet they say I am a white knight for one? Furries will be married to the wrong spirit when they don't use the judging Jesus used. Same with people outside the Fandom. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. That will be a non - combative peacful mind.
