The redness of her cheeks is so innocent. She's like a beautiful flower.
When father said a strong woman, I doubt a girl like her is what he had in mind. He probably meant some roughed-up gal that is 100% sure of herself.
I like her though, she's different than the local women. She is seemingly untouched by our tainted town and I find that very refreshing.
"Well, Taylor I think that will be all for now" I flash her a quick smile.
Her green eyes hidden behind her long lashes as the redness in her cheeks slowly subsides.
"Check back with us in an hour or so, we'll be here for a while."
She nods her head and turns to walk off. I can't help but watch as her hips sway side-to-side.
"Wow" I mutter softly.
I hear Brett and Phillip begin to laugh. As she disappears to the other side of the bar Brett clears his throat to speak.
"There is no doubt you've made your decision. So what are you going to do about it?" He leans in pressing for information.
I turn back to the pair. "Well, I think it would be proper to ask her out to dinner." I rest my hands on top of one another.
Phillip chimes in, "And if she says no, then what?" He crosses his arms leaning on the table.
I laugh a bit shaking my head, "She won't, I can assure you."
I look over to her as she wipes empty tables. "She obviously felt bad about falling into me and spilling my drink on the floor."
"So your point is?" Phillip responds raising a brow in confusion.
Brett looks to him, as if the point is obvious, "his point is that he can guilt trip her into dinner, since she made a fool of herself earlier."
Phillip's face of confusion disappears as he begins to nod, understanding the plan.
I watch as she works away, scrubbing hard on a table in the far right. I wonder if it would be appropriate to ask her while she is working, I don't want to send the wrong message. I scrunch my face in heavy thought. I turn to Brett for advice, he has always been a ladies' man.
"When do you think I should ask her Brett? I don't want her to get the wrong idea."
He begins to laugh at me. "All you need to do is walk over and talk to her. For God's sake man, you are the soon-to-be leader of our gang and you're worried about talking to a girl."
I roll my eyes as he pokes fun at me. "Yeah, yeah you're right. I guess, I just don't want to use your method of getting the girl."
Phillip sighs, "You may not like our methods, but it sure is a lot more fun for us."
"Phillip, that's what I worry about", I shake my head and slowly stands to my feet. Grabbing my drink, I turn the glass upside down finishing it off.
Well here goes nothing. I exhale and begin to walk slowly toward her.
Wow, she sure is beautiful. I continue to think to myself, trying to decide what I will say. As I reach her she turns to look at me, her hair swirls around to her back sending the aroma of coconut in my direction.
Man, she even smells nice. Alright, well I'll just come right out and ask her.
"Hi Taylor." I smile as she looks up at me, her eyes sparkling as the dim light hits them. I freeze almost in a trance-like state, mesmerized by her beauty.
"Would sometime dinner like?" I say confidently, but as soon as the words escape my mouth I stop. My face turning white. I just made myself sound like an idiot. How is this girl ever going to take me seriously?
She stands there with the most puzzled look I have ever seen. Her lips part as she manages to speak, "excuse me?"
My heart races, scared that I blew my one chance. Clearing my throat I speak again, "I...I'm sorry. I guess I got a little ahead of myself." She smiles with an understanding kindness in her eyes.
"What I was trying to say is, would you like to have dinner with me sometime?" I flash a seductive smile her way. I can instantly tell that I am successful as her cheeks begin to flush that beautiful pink.
"I...I would love to", she smiles sending my heart into a rage of beats.
"Well, great!" I smile again unable to wipe to goofy look off my face.
"How is 7:30, tomorrow night? I can pick you up if you'd like."
I watch, waiting for her response. She's is so cute when she blushes like that. Batting her eyes as she responds, "7:30 would be fine, you can pick me up here."
I can't help but stare at her beautiful eyes. Watching as she twirls a strand of hair around her index finger.
"Alright! It's a date! I'll see you tomorrow." I turn away leaving her hypnotized. I usher to Brett and Phillip that it is time to leave. They meet me at the door asking more questions than I care to answer.
As we shut the door behind us Brett asks, "So how did it go? Did she go for it?"
I smile with a dumb dazed look on my face, this time a bit of red appears in my own cheeks.
"It's a date..."
