As Saul was traveling through the mirror portal, he could see the end of the portal but this time he was prepared. As he leaps through the portal, he turns his body enough to land in the bathtub. However, all of the shampoos and conditioners fell on top of him and then the shower curtain.
“Ow.” he said.
As he tries to get up, he hears a loud on the bathroom door.
“Yo! Idiot! Are you in there?” a female voice called out to him.
“Yeah yeah I’m in here. I’ll be out in a sec.” he responded.
“Well hurry up I need to take a shower!” the girl responded.
“Oh shit.” He said to himself. He then quickly gets back up and puts everything back together all while his sister keeps banging on the door to hurry up. Saul then puts the curtains back up and opens the door for his sister.
“Happy now?” he asked.
“Yes, now move.” His sister replied.
Saul moved out of the way then goes down and sees from the back door that it is night time already. He also wants to take a shower but he’s too exhausted to do so considering the ordeal today was like. He slowly walked over to his bedroom. Upon entering, he didn’t bother to turn on the light but instead walked over to his bed and slammed himself onto the bed. The soft comfort of his bed consumed him as he already fell deep asleep. But as the night passes by, Saul’s dreams were not too pleasant for him. in the dream, Saul awakens in a dark void as its surround was covered in with a deep fog. He could barely see anything 2 inches in front of him. But then he heard distance screaming. They sounded so close yet oddly far away. He tries to follow the screams but the screams sound like they’re all over the place. He keeps turning around but he can’t find the source of the screaming. But then he turned around once more and sees the bandit that he killed. He gets startled and falls. The man had the arrow still stuck in his eye.
“You shouldn’t have killed me boy. You should let me killed you. BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT WORSE FOR ALL OF US!!” suddenly the bandit pulled out a knife and charges at Saul.
Saul felt a gun in hand and pulls it out and shoots at the bandit and like before the bandit’s head exploded as bits and pieces of the head splattered onto Saul’s face. The body of the bandit then fell on top of Saul. He pushed the body off of him until he saw Sara and Frey standing right behind him. They then rush in and begin killing the other bandits. Only this time, Saul is witnessing the bloodshed and carnage right in front of him. one of the bandits managed to escape the carnage and runs toward Saul with a short blade. Saul then picks himself and makes a run for it. He keeps running and running not paying attention where he’s going in the black void but then one step and he falls. Gravity was pulling him closer and closer to the floor until he finally impacted the ground. He awoke and sees that he didn’t fall off a cliffside but of his bedroom floor.
“Ow” he said to him. He then turned his head around and sees two white fluffy tails. He lifts himself and sees two rabbits sleeping next to him. the rabbits then turned around and stood up on their back legs. One rabbit was big with white and brown spots all over it as the other was the same with black spots instead of brown.
“Well, morning to you two guys.” Saul smiled and scratches their chins as they were begging for some food. Saul then pulled himself together and stand back up.
“Alright time to make your breakfast. Come on Oreo, Fluffy!” the rabbit ran up ahead to the kitchen as Saul put on his sandals and makes his way over to the kitchen. He sees the rabbits were running around and jumping with excitement. Saul then opened the fridge and grabs a few carrots, cucumbers, cabbages, and celery. He begins to come them up into pieces and fills a bowl of the chopped veggies. He puts the bowl down as the rabbits rushed in and chows on the veggies like no tomorrow. He smiled then went off and does his daily chores.
“Alright boys, enjoy your breakfast. When you’re done go back to your beds until I come back.”
Starting with his laundry, then the dishes, then cooking some lunch and finally (which he hates the most) was cleaning his bathroom. Then after cleaning the bathroom he took a break and lay on the couch. The rabbits were dashing around the house and when they saw Saul laying on the couch and goes to join him. They ran and jump on top of him. they wiggled their tails as they too lay on top of him. Saul laughed and gave them both a nuggie on their heads.
“You’re cheerful this morning.” Frey said.
“Morning? You’ve been out of it this morning.” Saul responded.
“We’ll I’m more of a night person. Anyway, is there anything to eat?” Frey asked.
“Wait a few minutes and I’ll whip something up.” Saul responded. Saul then picks the rabbits and got up the couch and put them back on the couch. Frey then took his spots from the couch. Saul searched through the fridge as he takes out some bacon and eggs, breakfast sausage, waffles, and milk. He sorts them all out on the counter and starts cooking. Frey then looked over and sees the rabbits next to him. Confused yet curious, he grabs and holds one of the rabbits and puts it on his lap.
“Don’t even think about eating my babies!” Saul shouted with a knife in his hand.
“No. Just curious about why would you keep these things as pets?” Frey asked.
“What do you mean? Don’t you have animals like them back in your world?” Saul asks back.
“Pets we have. But they’re not what you call the "cuddling" type.” Frey responded.
“Oh come on they can’t be that bad can they?” Saul asked as he’s still cooking.
“Do biting your arm and legs off counts as cuddly?” Frey asked sarcastically.
“….. guess not.” Saul responded with a heavy heart.
Frey noticed it and wanted to ask but then he saw him spacing out and not paying attention to the food on the stove.
“Saul!” He yelled. Saul then snapped out of it but stumbles back and falls back. Frey quickly reacts and jumps over the couch and table and catches Saul with one arm. And the frying pan with eggs and bacon. Saul blushed off a bit as if Frey was treating him like a girl with the way he's holding him.
“I’ll take the rest from here.” Frey said.
“What?! No! I’m perfectly fine-“Frey cuts him off mid-sentence as he places Saul on top of the counter. Then he pulls out two wooden chopsticks and proceeds to cooks the rest of the food. Saul was amazed at how lightning-fast he was cooking. Frey then serves the food on the plates and carries them and Saul back to the table.
“Was that necessary?” Saul asked.
“Yup.” He replied.
“So, something on your mind kiddo?” Frey asked. Saul was surprised that Frey caught on. But then he should be since he’s a demon.
“Well…. I had a nightmare last night.” Saul quietly responded.
“About yesterday?” Frey asked.
“How did-“
“Called it. But then again, anyone would be shaken after what you went through.” Frey said.
Saul quietly shut himself up and looked at his food.
“Frey. Can I …ask you a personal question?” Saul asked.
“That depends.” Frey said.
“When you made your first kill… did you get haunted by the ones you’ve killed?” Saul asked with a heavy heart. Frey said nothing at first, then he put down his chopsticks to the side and answered.
“Best not to dwell on that kiddo. I know that you’re still having a hard time accepting but what’s done is done. Had you didn’t take the shot that man, he would have killed you. I did the same thing with my first kill.” Frey said.
“What?” Saul asked. Frey then began to tell a bit about himself.
“I was young. Even younger than you. Me and my sister Xin were on the run from mercenaries that attack our home. Our parents stayed behind to let us escape. But on the run, one caught up to us and took Xin as a hostage. Without thinking… I took the mercenary’s knife and stabbed him in head and killed him to save my sister. She would have died that if I didn’t do something. I don’t just kill for bloodshed. I find a reason to do so. That’s how I learned growing up. Humans are no different either. Soldiers killing the enemy just to protect their loved ones back home. Even sacrificing yourself to protect someone you love. Honestly, I find both admirable yet weird that humans can be ballsy than monsters or demons sometimes. Heh, you even showed some of that yesterday.” Frey said as he was encouraging Saul a bit.
Saul was still confused yet somewhat glad that Frey is trying to cheer him up. Frey then leans forward and flicks Saul on his nose. And with the flick, Saul snapped out of it.
“But enough about that. I wanted to discuss with you about something else.” Frey said.
“Hmm? Like what?” Saul asked.
“I think it’s about time you started training under us.” Frey said.
“Training?”
