I park my car in front of Susanna apartment before taking out my phone to inform her that I am downstairs. A few minutes later, she comes out of the building in a blue tight dress with silver high heels and a little purse. I get out of the car to go meet her on the sidewalk.
“You’re exceptionally beautiful today, Susanna,” I compliment her with a smile as I take her hand to bring it to my lips.
She slightly blushes, “Thank you, Micah. You’re very handsome too,” she shyly answers as I open the car’s door to let her in. Once she is seated, I close the passenger’s door and go back to the driver’s side. ”Where are we going?”
Looking away from the road, I give her a cheesy grin before answering, “It’s a surprise.”
“Aw, come on! You can give me a hint!” she pouts as she turns her head to look at me.
I shortly give her a drop it glance, but when I see her pout, I cave in. “Okay, okay, it’s something you have never seen or experienced before.”
She gives me a small scowl since I know she isn’t satisfied with my answer, but she stops asking about it. She has finally understood that I will not tell her more than that or she will run away as soon as she knows. The ride is made in a quiet silence with some soft music playing in the background, but once we get out of the city she turns to me and asks where we are going. Again, I answer her that it’s a surprise. She smiles before going back to look at the landscape, but she starts to worry when I stop my car, not the Tesla, at the edge of the woods.
“Where are we?” she asks wearily as she stumbles forward into my arm.
“Do you trust me?” I ask back, but instead of the usual yes, she hesitates. “What? You think I’m going to murder you here?” I laugh making her relax, just a little bit.
“You could have told me that we are going on an excursion. I am not dressed in the most appropriate way,” she mumbles as I look down at her outfit. Well, the view isn’t all bad.
“Here,” I help her walk on the path that is leading us deeper into the forest.
Fortunately, it didn’t rain yesterday or else it would have been a pain in the ass to walk in the mud without dirtying my shoes and pants. but when I was younger, I already chased a young woman while it was raining. It had been a little more challenging than usual, but I still had her at the end. I chuckle at the thought of her cries and moans just before she died. They all make the sweetest sound when I sink my fangs into their neck.
“Aren’t we going a little too deep into the forest?” Susanna asks as she looks around her while clinging to my arm.
“You’re right. This is deep enough,” I answer as I pull away from her. “Now, let’s hunt.”
“Hunt? But you didn’t bring a gun. What are we hunting anyway?” she mutters as she looks at the sunset.
I smile at her confusion making her take a step back. Instead of giving her an explanation, I have decided to show her instead. I move a little to the left as I feel her eyes on me. Then, I run for a few meters before stopping when we are face to face with our chest almost touching each other. Susanna gasps and stumbles back until her back hits on a tree trunk.
“H-how? You were there… A-and then you…” she stutters trying to understand what just happened. I smirk at her, I will never get tired of the confusion and the fear flashing in their eyes. Again, I close the gap between us with my vampire running speed making her fall to her knees. “W-what are you?”
I crouch down to be on her eye level before asking, “You really don’t know?” I slowly extend my hand to touch her arm, but she flinches away making a bubble of pride appearing in my chest. “You are scared of me? Even if you claimed that you love me?” She whimpers and tries to scoot away from me, but because of the tree blocking her way, her shoes only scratch at the ground. “You will love me no matter what right?” I repeat the words she once said to me as I tilt my head to the side.
“P-please stop…”
“You still love me right? You promised me… ,” I say sadly tone as tears start to fill my vision. She looks up and I notice the guilt in her eyes, but she still doesn’t say anything. “I thought… I thought that you’ll love me enough to accept who I really am…” I sob.
“M-Micah…” she calls me with a shakily making me nod. “P-please tell me what you a-are.”
I sigh loudly as my shoulders slump down, “I am a Vampire…”
“V-vampire?” she repeats incredulously.
“You don’t believe me?” I ask as more tears slide on my cheeks. “W-what should I do for you to believe me? I never wanted to be like this… Please.”
I can feel her eyes searching for mine. She must think I am pranking her. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally answers, “Show me.”
My eyes widen at her before nodding. I close my eyes and will my fangs to come out and I know that my eyes will be glowing red. Slowly, I open my eyes and then my mouth. I hear Susanna gasps before slowly reaching to touch my cheek.
“I… I look like a monster,” I reach up to put my hand on hers.
“Do you… Drink human blood?”
“N-No! I only take animal blood… I didn’t drink any human blood for almost a hundred years now. But…” I slowly slide my hand on her arm.
“But?” she repeats carefully.
“Since I have met you, I can’t resist the urge. I-I love you so much that if you let me… I will, no, we can live together, forever!”
“F-forever? You mean that I become a…” she thinks out loud before shaking her head, “No… This is too fast Micah. I need time to think about it. Let’s go back and… And we can talk about it!” she answers nervously.
I sigh, “And I thought you would accept to make the process painless…”
“What do you mean?”
I lift my eyebrow up, “If you’re not willing, I’ll be taking you by force,” I state as I grab the back of her hair.
“N-No! Let go! Micah, please don’t do it! I don’t want to be like you!” she screams as she tries to get out of my hold.
“Become like me?” I laugh as she watches me in horror, “Don’t worry about it, you won’t. I never planned it anyway. You’ll just die.”
“P-please don’t…” she whimpers.
I shush her, “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt if you don’t fight me. Close your eyes and it’ll be finished in a second.”
I push my nose into the crook of her neck and inhale her scent. Wonderful, I can smell her fear mixed with a faint hint of vanilla. My mouth waters as I lick and suck her neck to tenderize it.
“Micah, please,” she begs one last time before I plunge my already elongated fangs into her flesh. Her body tenses as she let out a long and loud moan before completely relaxing as I greedily suck in her sweet nectar. My body is burning as I feel the hot liquid getting through my whole being. It tastes so good that I greedily take big gulps until there is nothing left.
I let go of her with a gasp before licking my lips free of blood. She really was worth all the efforts I put into her. Now, let’s see if she has money in her pretty little purse. I take it from her before checking its content. There is a total of three hundred dollars with her credit and debit cards and her phone. Knowing her, she has saved her passwords on her phone. I will check on that later.
After disposing of the body and covering my tracks, I make my way back to the city. If the police take me in for some questions, I can always use my hypnotic powers on them. I did it once and will do it again. But I’m sure that I will not need it since no one reported the missing waitress or the woman before her and the one before her. Either the police is very incompetent or they only don’t care.
Anyways, I have just enough time to go back home and get ready before my meeting with Katie. When I reach my home, I step into the shower to get rid of the smell of blood after throwing my clothes into the hamper. Twenty minutes later, I come out of the bathroom to get dressed in an elegant suit. I need to look my best to impress a woman like her. Apparently, we are meeting at a restaurant which her family owns. I have made some research on her and I have discovered that Katie comes from a very rich and old family. She works as a model for multiple famous fashion lines. It is quite surprising that I didn’t recognize her since she is almost in every magazine.
Ready to go, I arrange my tie before heading out. On my way there, I listen to the news to know if someone has reported Susanna missing, but since she lives alone, I doubt anyone suspects anything yet. The more I think about it, the weirder it seems. How come I am not suspected in any of the missing cases? It is not like I changed my identity or something. So why the police did not trace me back? Were they waiting to find the bodies? If that is the case, they will only find the bones, a lot of bones in a wolf den. A hundred years before, it has been easier to kidnap and kill someone than today with all the new technologies. Sometimes, I do miss travelling on a horse or carriage. Don’t ask me why I don’t know since my car is my baby. When I first saw her, it was love at first sight. So, that damn car valet better not scratch it.
After giving him my car keys, I walk into the restaurant and give Katie’s name since she has reserved a table for tonight. I am seated next to a huge window giving me the view of the moon. I look at my watch and notice that I am ten minutes early. While waiting for Katie to show up, I sip my water. When someone sits down in front of me, I realize two things. One, it is not Katie. Two, it’s a man.
