Purple is the colour of power beyond all imagination when chaos descends on humankind, purple will be the first colour to emerge from the skies. It is when what is perceived as right and wrong merge together when one has to right a wrong by wronging a right.

Purple is the colour of conflict, where red and blue clash and fights until they fuse to form a new identity. It is the colour of mystery, allowing heart rates to pick up at first sight. It is the colour of chaos and thrill of the screams from rollercoasters to the music of two pounding hearts in a dark room.

But that is merely the beginning. Purple is the colour that taints the sky with a warmer shade in the darkest hours of the night, the energy that swirls in a partner's eyes when you dance your night away with them, the heartwarming yet nervewracking feeling when fingers touch accidentally.

However, not all good things are capable of lasting. Purple, despite its undeniable beauty, is something frowned upon.

“It is made. It is fake. Nothing but influenced by the wrong kind.”

“Purple is a colour of selfishness,” they say, “you can’t have both.” The air gets thin. Breathing more rugged. “Choose just one and the right one.” Eyes roll, arms cross and then before all else, the world seems to be watching your every move.

“Purple is a colour of indecisiveness.” they shoot back “You’re just confused" they argue.

Purple is suffocation. It is the colour of too many conflicts at once. Too much red on hospital beds, too many blue lips lowered six feet under. Many bisexuals have suppressed their emotions, forcing themselves to accept only half of who they are. People claim they crave attention, yet they do not receive enough despite being a majority of the LGBT+ community. Among adults worldwide who identify as part of the LGBT+ community, it is concluded that bisexuals stand at a 1.8% compared to 1.7% who identify as gay or lesbian. Despite that, many still deny that this is nothing but a made up sexuality originating from indecisiveness.

However, they have underestimated emotions. They have underestimated the will and pure power of love and passion.

Purple is the colour of overcoming fear and realising that is not being selfish, being open to accepting two things at once. It’s an identity composed of two elements, to separate the elements would erase a part of who they are.

It is a battle cry, a song sung by invisible people. In the distance, they raise a flag of pink, purple and blue. Their eyes scream a dangerous power, and lips curl upwards in glee.

They are the purple of a diverse society - and they will be seen.
