As I followed my mate through the castle, I couldn't help myself, but observe everything with wide eyes. Everything was so beautiful but less decorated. It was obvious that I was now in his private quarters.
Then Cadfael opened a door and let me through first. I gasped at the sight. The bedroom was nearly as big as my house with a huge bed in the center. On the side, there was a big window giving us a view of the city and above. It was superb.
"You like it?" he asked as his arms wrapped around my waist from behind. I couldn't answer even if I wanted to, so I just nodded. "This is our room."
I let the words sink in my mind before looking at the king-sized bed. It was big, but still one bed. I wasn't keen on that part.
"Let me show you our room," he took my hand before leading me to the first door.
This was the moment that I noticed the doors. There were so many! He opened the first one showing another room about the same size for the bathroom. Everything was shining and so luxurious. Then, there were the closet, his office and/or library, a kitchen, a dining-room and a game room. It was literally a house inside a castle!
I didn't have words to describe how I was feeling. This was too much even for two.
"Since Hiro is going to join us, I was thinking of adding another room for him," he started to explain how he was seeing it.
I was starring at him wide-eyed before snapping out of my trance. "It's okay, you don't need to. This is... Plenty."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am. Thank you, this room is way more than I could ever imagine."
He grinned and let himself fall on his bed. "I'm glad you're finally here," he sighed as he patted the spot next to him.
"W-what do you mean?" I asked as I went to sit next to him.
"I knew you were mine for three years already," he leaned on his arms to lift himself up. "I really wanted to go get you as soon as I knew who you were, but you weren't 20 yet."
He looked at me, waiting for an answer, but what could I say? Think, think, think!
I sat there frozen, not knowing what to say. I couldn't tell him that I feared the day he was expecting the most, could I?
No, that would be a horrible way to start our relationship.
"I-I was surprised when I learned that you were my mate," I shyly mumbled.
"I hope that one day, you'll come to like me more than anything else. Like I did when I saw you for the first time," Cadfael smiled.
The doors slammed open making me jump from the bed. I looked at the mermaid who just barged into the prince's room. She looked furious. I heard my mate sigh as he leaned back on his bed. She swam toward him as he immediately got out of the way. She was scary but good-looking.
"There you are! I waited for you for more than my patience could take! You told me you were going to present us to your mate as soon as you come home!" she furiously accused my mate.
"You were never patient..." mumbled Cadfael before swimming away ignoring her completely.
The mermaid turned to me and in a blink of eyes, she was already in front of me. I gulped ready for her to blast.
"Nice to meet you Llyr, my name is Darya, First Princess of the Second Sea," she presented herself, her voice turned out to be smooth and graceful.
"N-Nice to meet you." I nervously greeted. So, she was my mate's sister.
"I know we haven't met for long, but I'll like to ask you a favour. Will that be alright?" I nodded. "You see, my royal mating ceremony is only a few moons away and if you and Cadfael would like to attend?"
"I-I..." I sought my mate for help, but I didn't see him anywhere. She was his sister so, he would attend, right? "I-I guess we can?"
She let out a little scream before hugging me hard. At the same time, my mate came out of one of the doors.
"What did you do again?" Cadfael asked annoyed as he snatched me out of her arms.
"You'll have to come to my mating ceremony since Llyr will be attending to ours. Unless you are willing to let me take care of him for the entire day?"
"Are you crazy? Of course, we are not attending! You're going to plot something crazy aren't you?"
"Umm, I wonder, if it's okay to ask, who is your mate, Princess?" I shyly asked not knowing how to designate her.
"Simply call me Darya. My mate name is Kaito," she smiled. I looked at her as if I didn't believe what I heard. Kaito, it must be a popular name. "What's wrong?"
"I-It must be a coincidence, but I have a cousin possessing the same name..." I peeked at my mate observing his expression soften before sighing.
"If that's the case, I guess... We can," he gently said before bestowing a gentle kiss upon me.
"Then, we will be coming to your mating ceremony then," she smiled before giving a knowing look at her brother and excused herself.
I heard Cadfael sigh again as his sister disappeared behind the doors.
"Let's get ready for tonight's supper," he gave me a small smile.
A knock resounded on the door and my mate went to open it. When he looked at me, his smile grew even bigger. He stepped back, and four maids swam in the room.
"Why there are so many maids?" I suddenly asked feeling self-conscious.
"They are here to help you get ready."
"I-I can do that myself," I felt myself swim backward.
"He's all yours," my mate said before they all ushered me into another room.
