After classes had ended, Evan walked out of class as quickly as he could but then bumped into Alvin who was just coming out of the administration office.
“ Evan can we walk home together we still need to talk.”
Evan looked away then nodded in agreement.
“I'll be waiting downstairs” Evan replied
Alvin and Evan walked home quietly and didn't say a word. In the past, they had so much to say to each other but this moment felt like they were strangers to each other. When they finally got to Alvin's home they stood by the gate and stared at each other each of them choking on the words they wanted to say. Then finally Alvin spoke up
“Am sorry about the other night. I couldn't hold back” Alvin said guiltily
“It's all right but I don't think I can continue to be friends with you” Evan replied
“Why,” Alvin asked
“Well you said you kissed me cause you liked me” Evan replied
“Yeah,” Alvin replied
“ The thing is I don't know how I feel about you yet and honestly I don't think I can like you back” Evan replied
“You don't have to feel anything Evan but I still want to be your friend” Alvin replied
“I don't know Alvin what if you try that again?” Evan replied
“I won't try and kiss you again … ever” Alvin replied loudly
“And we should never speak about this. No one should ever know” Evan said
“I swear I won't tell anybody” Alvin replied
“Okay,” Evan said as he took in a deep breath
“ Then I'll see you tomorrow at practice right?” Alvin asked nervously
“ yeah see you then” Evan replied
Alvin walked away with a smile on his face and waved at Evan. Evan stood there blankly and satisfied that they had managed to clear the air. But one thing was still on his mind. He couldn't forget what Alvin had told him earlier during class. Alvin liked him and the thought of that made Evan blush ridiculously.
