I packed my clothes, my toothbrush, and all other necessities (no not make-up) into my bag. I looked back towards my house as I saw my mother, not even looking at me. No tears, no sorrow, not even a good-bye. She was counting her money. I felt someone tap on my shoulder. “Don’t ever look back in sorrow and sadness. Look to a brighter future. Trust me, you’ll be thankful that spiteful woman bought her own pain. Selling you off like that on the drop of a dime; I’m not complaining, you’re of good use, but I hate to see how greedy and ignorant people can be. You’re no toy and I saw once that you’re a force not to be reckoned with.” After all this time, I thought I had buried my short temper and rage in the grave. Guess my fighting record had caught up to me. I tried to act surprised at this fact. “H-huh? What are you talking about? I am a nice and a very well behaved young lady.” He chuckled. It was a sweet and comforting one. “Really? The first sentence you speak just so happens to be a lie. Do you not trust me? I understand if you don’t, but you needn’t lie to someone who rescued you. That’s a very bad thing to do. Trust me, I’ve been scared like this too. But my friend’s foundation, to rescue those in need by taking them for a little bit of cash, helps so many people. He helped me you know.” With the little gleam of light from the street lights, I could see his face clearly. He had a horrible scar on the side of his face that ran from his temple to his chin. Other than that obruptancy, he was cute, charming. He had maroon hair, ya know like deep brown and deep red at the same time? His skin was the color of a redwood tree’s bark and his eyes and melting caramel. Those eyes; they were mesmerizing. As soon as I had came back to my senses, we were at his car, which looked like a limosine. He opened the door for me and I thanked him as I slipped in through the car door.
“How do you know about that? And how did you know I needed help?” He looked at me and tsked. “I just know these things Ms. Onis. And you’re mother and I go way back. I knew someday she’d be the way she is. My intuition is never wrong.” That made me very screwy. I didn’t want him to know about what I was, when I worked so hard to get rid of that persona. “Trust me, Miss. Onis, your fighting skills will prove very necessary when you start .”
When I left the limo, i started to doubt everything he said. I felt betrayed. Lied to. I was scared to even go in. ‘I was kidnapped,’ i thought, ‘I’m not supposed to be here!’ I took one look at him and he put his hand on my back. “Don’t worry about the facade of the place. It’s to make sure no one tries to inflict harm on anyone or steal valuable information, Ms. Onis. I wouldn’t lie to a client. I am a client myself technically, I just don’t talk about it often since I help find others in need as well.” He had a comforting look on his face; it was trifling. No matter how hard I tried, i couldn’t feel at unease around him. It was weird. His smile showed sincerity and kindness.
We walked to the house and knocked on it. A man peeped his head out of the door. “Hello- OH! Demaris! You’ve come back! Come, come! Oh! And you brought the girl~!” I felt childish vibes coming from this man. We walked in and he had casual clothes on. His hair was blue and black in an ombre way. His eyes were grey and yellow. I saw that the inside was garbage. The walls looked old and the paint was chipped off. Everything looked like it was corrupted by time. It was ancient, an antique. “Sorry to be such an unsocial mess, I didn’t expect you to be here today. Actually, I was going over some files for people that I take interest in, hehe.” He was definitely childish. “Honestly, Nirandi, you’ve been my favorite for a while, hehe. I’ve seen your fighting skills personally; I see the passion you have for making a name for yourself, yet it goes unnoticed by the ones who want to be on top of you, hehehe. That’s why I made this organization in the first place, hehehe.” I looked at him in confusion, trying to hide the fact that I have been in fights, trying to hide the fact that all of what he said about me is true. “Oh, but this isn’t even the place your staying at, tehehe! Come on!” He grabbed my hand and gently pulled me. I was kind of worried, but i couldn’t help but to look at his arm. With his jacket sleeve pulled up, you could see all of the cuts and bruises on his arm. It looked like it spelled out a word, but it was cut off by his jacket sleeve. He looked at and stared down at his arm and he pulled the sleeve of his jacket and glared at me. “Why are you staring at me like that, Nirandi? You’re making me very uncomfortable!” I apologized and his gaze became childlike again. “OK! Follow me, hehe!” He pulled me even more and his pushed me into an elevator. “See you down there! RACE YA!” I went down the elevator on to see him down there before me. “How-” “SHHHH shh shh shh shh! Cover your eyes! I want you to be surprised!” I surprisingly did as told and I was pulled in all different directions so many times, I was afraid I’d get lost.
“Now, open them!” I uncovered my eyes to find a big dojo area with high tech computers. “Woah! This is-” “Incredible right?” he interrupted. I nodded, speechless. There were males and females my age and a little bit older or younger, training, searching, reading, and just talking. This was a place I would love to stay. “Welcome to the NFF! The Never Forgotten Foundation! I made this place solely for the purpose of stopping evil! It was always my dream to stop a certain tyrant and his father from taking over. As long as we are here, they won’t prevail. But we’re not strong enough to fight them on our own. We need you, Nirandi! PLEASE OH PLEASE ACCEPT!” He got on his knees and pleaded. And I gave him my honest response.
