Since most of the crowd had died down and were leaving, it should have been easier to locate Revon, but I noticed that he was nowhere in sight, along with Ellis. After waiting a few minutes I questioned whether or not I should look around some more or wait.
I decided to stay put since I did not know either of the two men well enough to search for them, but that didn't stop my mind from overthinking different possibilities. Although this was my going to be my first date with Revon, I felt oddly attached to the man and I couldn't help the dark feeling that took over my stomach as I looked in the direction of Ellis' office. Silly thoughts about the possibility of the two being more intimate than close friends crossed my mind. Maybe this was a little game where I was to date Revon but I get stood up. Stupid, silly thoughts that my mind kept on imagining, but when you are alone, they aren't easy to stop.
My head snapped up when I notice a figure coming from the direction of Ellis' office, but he is alone. He has a phone pressed to his ear talking quickly as he looks across the room, watching the last few guests leaving. When his eyes land on mine he gives me an odd salute and smile before continuing his conversation. I watch him as he talks, stopping every few words to listen to whoever is on the other side of the line, all the while he very slowly steps closer in my direction. His eyes remain trained on me as he does and eventually, he disconnects the call, now standing only feet away.
"I didn't expect you to be still here, where is Revon?"
I watch him for a few moments before giving a slight shrug. "I thought he was with you, I went to tell my sister about the change of plans, while Revon went to find you to say goodbye." His eyebrows furrowed together as he looks around the now empty room. I continue to watch him as I try to figure out what it is about this man that gets to me. Since I met him before the exhibition began, I felt like every time he watched me, he was internally hammering down my walls, trying to figure me out. Not to mention the eye-raping I received, twice may I add, when he first laid eyes on me. I put it down to him accessing me for Revons sake but that doesn't mean it didn't affect me in some way. Whatever it was, it made me keep my wall stronger than ever around him, because it freaked me out how his eyes themselves were able to start knocking it down.
"He didn't come to see me, though I did hear a knock while I was in the office, I was on the phone confirming the plans for the public exhibition in an hours time."
His eyes drift back to me as he stares into my own. I don't back down and continue to watch him. He gives a small smirk before he winks and takes a seat on the chair near me.
"You know, I was watching you both earlier. It's mad, I mean... you only know each other a couple of hours, yet you both click. I saw how your whole body relaxed around him, you tried to remain distant and cold from everyone but the moment you looked at him, you switched..." He continues to watch me as though he is trying to figure me out, but I keep my expression black as I watch him back. "I don't know you, Jameson, but Summer and I have known each other for a few years now since I own a few galleries and she often hosts runway shows in some of the larger spaces. She talks about you quite often, nothing ill or exposing, don't worry. I got confused when she introduced you as her brother, Jameson. Thee Jameson. You were the opposite of how she described. That was why I was so taken back. At first, I was excited that it was you who would go out on a date with Revon because you sounded like such a warm, fun, loving man. She never told me much about you directly, but did tell me stories about both of you... Even I was a little intrigued to someday meet you but... The more you talked to me, the more I saw the opposite... most cold and distant... and, I guess I was worried that that is how it would be with Revon... "
His eyebrows furrow together as he looks off around the room, people now making their way into the building, cleaning any little mess left and preparing the room for the next event.
I was still pondering over his words after a few moments in silence, slightly confused, mainly because I wasn't sure why I felt a little guilty. The silence was broken when I saw Revon running out of the corridor that leads to the bathrooms in a wild panic. His eyes land on me and he visibly relaxes before his panic turns to nervousness and he hurriedly makes his way over to stand in front of me. "I am so, so sorry, Jameson! Since Ellis was on the phone when I went to his office I went to the bathroom but as I was about to come out my boss called me and, and he had questions and, so many questions, and I had to explain the incident today and, oh gosh I kept you waiting for so lon-"
I gently push my finger up to his mouth to silence his little rant and give him a small smile. "You don't have to explain at all, Revon, it's ok. Ellis was keeping me company while I waited and hoped for your return." I look over at said man with the small smile still laying happily on my face, which caused his still furrowed eyebrows to loosen out slightly as he looked between Revon and myself.
He stands up from his seated position before he pulls Revon in so a hug. "Go on and enjoy the rest of your evening, Revvy. Jameson seems like a great guy, so I expect a thank you for being such an amazing cupid when you finally tie the knot!" He looks down at Revon to give him a wink who responds by blushing a deep red and pushes his face into Ellis' chest. Ellis lets out a loud laugh before looking back at me as he lets Revon go. "You both are going on your first date yet this seems like the most untraditional work up to it ever. Jameson is acting like he is already at home, waiting to be alone before he takes out a ring and pops the question, and Revon is a 25-year-old blushing teenager."
He laughs again before he pats my back with a wink and pushes us both towards the door. "Go on, you too, I must get back to work, so enjoy and don't do anything I wouldn't do!"
