“Yes, Your Majesty.” Axel bowed towards his king and queen, not surprised to only a few seconds later watch his prince get dragged away by his father. Iris giggled softly towards the two that were leaving before turning back towards the other two.
“I hope you enjoy your stay, Kai. I'm terribly sorry for troubling you but the life of my son is on the line.” Perking up in remembrance, she lifted an object covered protectively in cloth and handed it to the boy. “Please look further into the poison used on this arrow and properly dispose of it. I'll leave you both to it then.”
Smiling softly, she gracefully led herself out of the lobby and off to do her own business.
With the others gone, Axel relaxed and crossed his arms over his chest. “Follow me, I'll show you to your room.” And off he went, not even bothering to look if Kai was following. He knew he had no choice but to do it, but he also really didn't care.
“Not like I have much of a say in it,” Kai shrugged and followed behind, depositing of the clothed object into one of his own bags.
As the two walked together, they turned heads of anyone they passed. The dashing, flirtatious knight and the new but equally handsome townsman. They were eye candies for all the maids they passed. In fact, one brave maid approached the two, wishing for even just a moment of their time.
“Axel!” The smaller girl grinned up towards the brunet. “It is lovely to see you and your...friend.” She looked between the two before beaming up at her original target. “You look absolutely dashing today.” Unfortunately, she hadn't thought up an actual conversation idea before approaching so she went straight to flirting. Maybe she could gain at least a little of his attention that way?
“Why thank you, you yourself look absolutely ravishing.” Axel took the girl’s hand and brought it to his lips, placing a kiss upon it. His action turned the poor girl into a soft strawberry color.
Behind him, Axel didn't notice a pair of eyes watching them from a corner. A head of long, blond hair, was visible only to Kai, the only one paying attention. If Axel only noticed, he'd see the poor girl longing for him from afar.
Smirking to himself, Kai saved that image for later and reached out to tap his ‘friend’ on the shoulder. “I believe we were in the middle of something. But do feel free to continue once we're done.”
The maid jerked her hand back, bowed apologetically and hurried her way out of there.
Axel groaned and shot the other male a look. “Couldn't you have waited?”
“Couldn't you have kept your eyes faithful?” Kai shot back before taking a few steps ahead. “You never know when one of your admirers will go the extra mile to win you over and poor, poor Fayt is left all alone. Alone until I swoop in and give him all the love his heart desires.”
The brunet shook his head and pushed forward. “I know what I'm doing. Besides, I don't think he likes me…” He sighed to himself and continued on, too far to hear Kai’s last words before they reached their destination.
“If only you saw the way he looks at you. But then again…” Opening and closing his fist, Kai brought it to his chest and gave a wicked smirk to the back of Axel's head. “The less you know, the easier it will be to break the bond between you.”
