“Stop it,” The blond girl I’m talking with says, smiling. “Your way prettier when it comes to hair! I dye mine blond but yours is all natural and not dyed. I wish I could do that.”
“You know,” I tell her. “Yours could be that too if you just don’t dye it.”
I’ve been talking about this girl’s hair for way too long at this point.
I can’t believe how rude Jacob was being. Okay, maybe I can. And okay, maybe I deserve every bit of rudeness he was serving me, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to just sit there and take it!
I don’t care how hot he looks, I’m not taking crap from him.
Though has anyone else noticed he is in sweats, a jacket, and no shirt? He just showed up like that halfway through the party. Not that I mind, I mean, his body is amazing. It took every ounce of willpower that I’m quickly losing not to grab him and kiss him.
And hell, he has not gotten ugly over the past year. He’s right, he has gotten hotter.
I quickly look over at him and notice he is looking at me too.
Shit, shit, shit.
I look away quickly as if I was causally just stretching out my neck in a circular motion. I start to roll my neck, now I look like an Ostridge.
“What are you doing?” The girl asks me.
“Um,” I try to think of something that doesn’t make me sound weird. “I’m trying to see what it’s like if I were an Ostridge.”
“Oh,” She looks like she would like to go back to talking about her hair now.
I’m going to kill Kelly, I have no idea where this girl is. I don’t want to talk to this blond girl anymore whose name I forget.
“Um Jade,” I turn to see Jimmy standing behind me.
“Yes?”
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” He asks.
He seems really drunk and tired right now, so I don’t protest.
I follow him outside to a bench where Jacob is now vomiting up the entire state of California.
I lean down close to him and say, “You’re not looking too hot right now are you?”
He glares at me and then goes back to vomiting.
“Would you just take him home bro?” Jimmy asks me. “I don’t know where he lives exactly. And as you can see I can’t really ask him what his address is.”
“I’m not taking him home Jimmy,” I tell him.
“Jade please,” He pleas. “He can’t stay here.”
I sigh.
“If you see Kelly, tell her I’ll be back in twenty minutes and to not leave without me.”
He nods and heads back in the house.
I try to help him stand and then throw his arm around my shoulder.
His entire body weight is practically on me and it’s exhausting.
“Jacob,” I say as we walk down the sidewalk. “Can you please try and stand on your own?”
He rubs his head against mine. I miss feeling him so close to me.
It’s weird. Talking to him and touching him. I don’t want to not be doing this but it sucks at the same time. He hates me, but right now he’s just drunk so he doesn’t.
“Jade,” He whispers into my hair.
It sends shivers throughout my whole body.
I don’t say anything because I can’t listen to his sexy voice anymore. A girl only has so much willpower and mine is running out fast.
His house isn’t far if I can just make it there without hearing him talk again than maybe I can control myself.
I silently pray he starts throwing up again so that he can’t keep talking.
I see his house up ahead.
He says my name into my neck and I almost cave and just kiss him.
Almost there… a few more steps and I can drop him home and go back to the party in peace. Few more steps… just a few more.
I walk him up the steps to his house.
I raid his pockets for keys, jeez he has a lot.
“Think you have enough keys?” I ask him. “If I didn’t know any better I’d think you were valet parking.”
He looks up at me, and doesn’t look away.
“What?” I ask.
“I think,” He looks like he is about to pass out.
I’m sticking random keys into the hole and none of them are fitting. How am I ever supposed to get him into his house like this? How does he ever get into his house? What does a seventeen-year-old boy even have all these keys for?
“What do you think?” I ask, paying more attention to the keys than to his drunk slurs.
“I think,” He says. “That I love you.”
I drop the keys.
