A new guy, Asher, entered the day program yesterday. He's 17, tall, blond and kind of "dorky" looking, but funny as hell and into meme culture (as am I). We "hit it off" pretty quick and he's a real great guy, but he's been sending me these subtle flirt signals almost immediately after we started talking.
- He made it very apparent that he was single and wanted a girlfriend
- Somehow, Asher, this other dude Adam, and I got onto the topic of the Statue of Liberty, and I joked that I'd "look cute as the Statue of Liberty" and then he said "let's talk about that." I still don't know if he was joking or not.
- He stares at me A LOT
- There's a couch in the dayroom, and late today I was dozing off on it, and when I was almost asleep I heard him say (in an affectionate voice) "Aw, she's asleep."
If you've been keeping up with these, you will be able to see how this is an issue. I've actually been through this a few times, so I can see where this is headed. He'll eventually ask me out/for my number, and I'll have to break it to him. Then he'll be disappointed and I'll feel like shit.
I feel like I'm being obnoxious, but this shit is a real issue for me. I hate being the "bringer of bad news" and it never, ever gets easier because all these guys are super cool and I feel like I should find a way to let them know earlier, but I'm just too shy.
:(((((
