“Come on tell me!” I begged him, but Luke remained as stoic as ever, ignoring my badgering. “Just give me a name, I probably don’t even know her!”
It’s our second weekend working together at the clinic as a group and I’m bored. The only thing that’s keeping me slightly entertained is trying to guess what Luke is going to do tonight, or more accurately who.
“Just a hint, what’s her hair color?” I pleaded.
“Brown.”
“Eye color?”
“Green.”
“Is it Heidi?”
“No.”
“Then tell me!” I was exasperated now. “Come on, I’m bored. At least tell me where you’re taking her.”
“Oh come on, you know where I’m taking her. There’s only one place, Vito’s.”
“So you’re saying that if I went to Vito’s tonight I would find out who your date is?” I smirked at the horror written across his face.
“You wouldn’t,” His tone was borderline commanding.
I gave him an innocent smile, “I might go to Vito’s with Heidi and Hannah tonight, just for fun. And we might bump into someone we know like you.”
“Her name is Valerie. Now please tell me you won’t come.” He was almost on his knees pleading with me.
“Turns out there are two places to be on a Friday night,” I paused and pretended to examine my nails. “Heidi heard about a party so that’s where I’ll be, not at Vito’s.” Luke visibly relaxed and I choked on a laugh, “Would it truly be that bad?”
“I just don’t want to explain that I’m in a group dedicated to people who broke the rules and the only reason I know you is because we’re both delinquents,” He sighed.
“Makes sense,” and it does, I would be embarrassed about knowing me that way too. “Does Valerie have every class with you?”
“No,” he admitted.
“Then you say we have geography together. It’s the same prof,” I shrugged.
His eyes narrowed, “When?”
“10 AM. Why?”
“We do have geography together,” He deadpanned.
“Oh, huh, I never realized that.”
“Do you sit in the front?”
“No, I sit in the very back.”
“Me too on the left side.”
“Oh, I sit on the right side.”
“You should sit on the left side.”
“No, you should sit on the right side.”
“Maybe, I will.”
“You should.”
“Fine.”
“Fine.”
We looked at each other and I burst out laughing while Luke chuckled a little. It was the most response I had ever gotten from him.
