I woke up naked, to a pitch black room. Standing up from the ground, I realized there was a black substance sticking to me. It burned and felt like unbearable fire on my skin. I tried wiping it off, but it only spread making the pain even worse. I began panicking and screaming hoping that someone would save me.
I ran through the darkness to search for help, but I didn't get far; the substance stuck to my bare feet. I crumpled to the ground realizing that I was alone. Despite the outer pain I felt it was the fact that I was alone that hurt more. I started to cry and feel pathetic that I couldn't do anything.
A distorted figure came into my view. It was completely black, dripping with the substance that was on me. “It must be hurting as well,” I thought. I stood up from the floor despite the black stuff still sticking and burning me.
“Are you ok?” I asked a bit cautiously. Though my words were sympathetic I sounded so emotionless. I didn't mean to, the words simply ended up sounding that way. More tears still fell down my face uncontrollably as I looked at the figure. “It’s burns doesn’t it. I’m sorry it burns.” The thing tilted it's face, except for it wasn't a thing. It was me... or rather a creature that looked like me.
Suddenly, his hand reached to cover up my nose. The black stuff started filling my lungs, heart, and throat with a burning sensation. I was being burned both on the inside and out. I couldn't stop crying, the tears just kept streaming down my face. I felt as though I was being consumed by fear and only fear; no other emotion. I tried moving away, but I couldn’t. Everything hurt. My heart felt as though it was just becoming a weight in my chest. Suddenly the man's face changed to a distorted grin. Crimson blood came gushing out from his eyes and mouth. He tore into my chest and pulled out my heart with his other hand while the free one was still over my nose. “I'm going to die,” I thought over and over again in my head. He let go of me and I collapsed to the floor.
I clutched the hole in my chest and all that poured out was more of the black ooze. I could taste it on my tongue and it burned as if acid was just poured into my mouth, slowly disintegrating everything from my tongue to lips. I looked at the grinning me and could see my heart beating in it's hand. The lookalike clenched my heart in its hands. The stuff on the ground began consuming me as well, like quicksand.
“Please,” I cried. The black stuff only poured out of my mouth more when I uttered those words. I let out one last ear shrieking scream, despite the stuff oozing from my mouth in hopes that something would hear me. With that last cry for help, I awoke from the nightmare.
My throat was sore and the pounding of my head was unbearable. Tears were still falling. Matías jolted out of his sleep. “Bebé, what’s wrong.” I immediately began crying again. I’d have dreams like those before, but never before did I have someone to comfort me when I awoke from them. He pulled me into him and held me, as I sobbed on his chest. “Ay dios mios, you're burning up.” I sobbed more. “I..I’m so..sorryyy,” I cried.
