A blood bond is a natural bond between individuals who have ties of kinship or have exchanged blood through turning for Vampires, completing the mating process for Weres or Fae, or a ritualistic cutting of palms for humans, Wiccans and Mages.
A mate bond is a natural bond that draws the souls of two people who are said to be blessed as a perfect match by the moon goddess in Were, Vampire and Fae culture, and is not to be confused with a blood bond as it does not count as such until the mating process is complete. Weres and Vampires complete the process by turning their mates through bite for Were and exchange of blood for Vampires. If the Were’s or Vampire’s Mate does not wish to be turned, the pair will still have the mate bond, but no blood bond will be formed. All Fae, including those who are Hybrid with Were traits, can only complete the mating process through the wine ceremony.
