"Who are some of your major artists that inspire you to create?" -T.C.
WOAH!!! I said that I was going to answer a few questions about myself, but I never expected something as DEEP as that! Props for you T.C! You made me think about my life choices early in the morning in just one question. Anyway, I actually like questions like this and will answer it to the best of my ability.
When I was 5, I was given my first video game (Metroid Gameboy SP), and I was glued to it for days. Throughout my young childhood, the only thing I hobbies I had were video games and learning about God (JW). I never wanted to do anything else and I was a pretty antisocial kid. I would get made fun of in school, I had a very short temper, and I had no friends.
My older sister had something that I didn't have, a talent for art. She could draw a realistic flower in 5 SECONDS!!! No joke! I would try to draw, but my hands were too shaky and I couldn't. When I one time got grounded for record time (one year), I had nothing to do since my only hobby was VIDEO GAMES!!! So I tried to branch off, I bought an electric guitar but to no prevail (still in my room today). I tried to make clay sculptures but failed miserably. I bought an MP3 player and put music on it (totally legally ;3). I just couldn't find anything to be passionate about. I turned into a depressed monster. No one wanted to be with me, and my grades began to suffer.
I then turned to the one skill I thought I would never succeed in, storytelling. Since my hands always shook when concentrating, I would try to write but no one would ever be able to read what I wrote. I hopped onto Google Docs in the first time in months and wrote a poem for class. It was called, "A War on the Checkered Board". I was surprised to check my grade for the first time and see an 8/8 (IB grading rubric if you were curious).
I felt a little warmed in knowing that I had some sort of skill. No one in my family believed I wrote it so I wrote another one right in front of them. This time it wasn't a poem, but a comic book. I used some stick figures and named the series, "Rules of the Dumb". There I introduced a stick figured dog that happened to be still relevant later in my drawing days.
My sister looked at the dog and said, why not make it unique and draw it over again. So I did, and it looked a little better. She told me to do it again, I was annoyed at her and told her no, but she insisted. I kept doing it and doing it until I had myself a somewhat different design than the stick figure. I wondered if I was to keep doing it, what it would come out as. To this day, that dog is always redrawn every time I feel bored. I would keep drawing it and change it to make it the best it could be. A fun fact about this dog is that he was originally going to be named, "Max". But after many tries before, I made the dog we all know and love today which happens to be, "TazD".
I hoped you enjoyed this story about how my sister gave me the inspiration to make TazD! Thanks to T.C. for asking me this and go ahead! Ask me more!!! I really enjoyed writing this and I can't wait for more questions to be asked to me in the future.
BTW: I am now going to answer that question a little more relevantly and will put some artists that inspire me throughout the community.
1. My Older Sister - Of course
2. Bonnie Pang - The creator of the best webtoon known today, Roar Street Journal! Gave me the inspiration for Story Mode and the unique style of "everyone's viewpoint" I will put a link in the description! I really recommend binge reading it yourself!
3. Glidedguy - So far, my favorite animator! He inspires me to try out animating in the near future. I will send you all the link when I start off my first youtube channel and make my first animation. His link will be in the description, his animations are top notch.
4. Comic Kat Kid - I already know that the second he sees this, he will jump for joy! Wondering why, CKK? Well, when I figured out how hard computer drawing would be, I was already scared that the second I tried to quit, I was going to lose the popularity that I tried very hard to gain. I knew it was going to be a while until I convinced my parents to buy me the equipment I needed so I had to look for other options. When I went to sleep every night, I would toss and turn because so many ideas would flow through my head and I knew the second I would sleep, they would all disappear. Then I thought of you and your unique approach to making stories. Taking a paper, a pencil, and a camera and posting your stories without the fancy equipment. I wrote the 3 letters on a piece of paper and waited until daybreak. I tried it myself and was able to keep my fans until my stuff came. Thxs again CKK!!
5. Shen - Shen, the funniest guy I know. I mean, he can make your day with just a few simple pictures. His drawing style doesn't require much artistic talent, but he always is able to bring humor in everything he does. He even made a comic about his laziness, finished it halfway and still pulled it off. He was my main inspiration when it came to posting online. When I saw his work, I was like, "if he can draw like this and gain much popularity, I can too!" Much love Shen (Even though you are probably too famous and will never see something insignificant like this).
Anyway, ASK ME ANYTHING!!!! Stay TazD!!
