carina
There it was again, that unsettling feeling. I shivered and instantly turned around hoping to catch a glimpse of him before he disappeared again. but to my surprise, I saw no one. Yet somehow my eyes were still drawn to one spot. It felt like my energy was being assaulted by someone else’s energy. He was here, watching me again. I shivered as an electric awareness seeped into my body. It was as if my body sensed him long before my mind processed his presence. His energy was always so strong, and intense. I have never felt anything like it. it made me want to run to it and run away from it at the same time.
Just like always, I held my head up high and ignored him. I walked away, feeling dreadful and anxious. As I was heading towards my car I saw her, Olivia Cunningham. My coven’s high priestess and her cliques of beautiful, fashionable arrogant witches. She was walking towards me dragging her feet slowly across the parking lot. I sighed and thought. Now then, what does this good for nothing serpent cunt want from me?
Olivia was a tall, slim young woman with an ample bust and pale skin. she has long, mid-back length dark burgundy hair, with varying shades of color depending on the latest hair trend. Thin shaped eyebrows. well defined cheekbones and thin delicate figure, hidden by the layers of clothes she wore. Her clothes usually consisted of dark elegant Gothic Lolita dresses, with a corset and a black lace parasol that she always carried with her. I continued to smile politely and waited patiently for her to say something.
I suddenly stopped walking and instantly put my right palm against my heart and did a quick bow down. It was a sign of immense respect and adoration. something this cunt did not deserve me. She smiled faintly and gestured towards a green bench nearby. I put my bag down and had a seat.
” How have you been carina? ” she asked absently, with a hollow voice. I just nodded it took me a moment to find my voice.
” Good. I have been good, thank you for asking. how have you been lately ?” I countered back in a calm, unhurried voice. She turned to me sideways and gave a heavy sigh. I knew that look, it was the sad pretend look she gave to the coven’s new recruits. The look that said I care but was a complete and total lie. Every move Olivia made was purely for her own profit, that’s what the coven didn’t see. All they saw was a devoted, dedicated high priestess, who was spending her fortune and everything on her coven.
"I feel like you don’t want to be our sister anymore, and that perhaps am forcing you into joining our coven. You know you don’t have to practice with us Carina, just because our parents and their parents before did. You are just as special and as powerful as any witch. but in number! Carina, there is a strength. We can protect one other, live happily and harmoniously together. Don’t you want that, Carina? to be with your sisters, to learn, and practice magic together.″
Her words, they had a practiced feel to it. Almost as though, she’d said them many times before. I refrained from adding how about you go screw yourself, you shitty lying cunt! and wondered briefly how to tell her, No I didn’t give a fuck about the coven, and yes I had no intention whatsoever of being her sister. but then again, that meant having to be supervised by a witch hunter and believe me THAT'S THE LAST THING I WANT!
Olivia is a social butterfly and liked being in the center of attention. So it was no surprise that she was always throwing lavish parties, and hosting some kind of charity foundations for orphans somewhere. She came from a greatly respected and wealthy family.
The Cunnigham Family was one of the oldest and most powerfully influential family in the magic community, and with that kind, legacy came with the respect of the council. Her family also held some sorts of political power, which they used to cover up supernatural activities. For some odd reasons, she saw me as her rival in pretty much everything I did. which I found highly annoying, to be honest.
She’d take things too far just to prove that she is the strongest and best. She was the kind of woman who is willing to take dangerous short-cuts, or even use forbidden dark magic to get her point across. she is also very cunning, as she is not above double-crossing her allies to further her own agenda.
However, despite her dishonorable ways, she still has some vague sense of honor. She wasn’t just a high priestess for a show, No! She also provided the coven with financial support, as well as putting some of the coven’s most talented young mages through some of the worlds most prestigious high schools, and universities. During her many search parties for young talented witches and mages across the world, she also managed to build and opened magical foster care home here in snowville.
She did, however, liked to show off and put on airs, displaying arrogance at it’s finest. Basically, she was still a judgmental, entitled and self-centered bitch. she might outrank me in every way possible, but I was still entitled to my opinions last time I checked. Gods! what I would do to punch her in the throat. It took a lot of practice and self-resilience to keep my smile plastered on my face, as she stood in front of me.
" I apologize for how my actions made you feel high priestess. It’s just...I have a lot going on right now in my life. The coven, of course, means a lot to me, but I rather take care of my personal issues at hand first. I also apologize for not showing up for the last two previous coven rituals. I will see to it, that it doesn’t happen again. ”
I blurted it all out in the politest sincerest voice I’d ever used. Olivia was one of the most passive-aggressive bitches, I have ever met. She had the ability to create illusions to confuse, madden and torment people. It took a lot of willpower to maintain illusions, but Olivia made seem easy. You can never know if your thoughts are your own or if Olivia is manipulating them. It’s why I never let my mind wander around her.
She suddenly got up and slowly started walking away. I joined her in silence as she walked me to my car. Out of the blue, she stopped and turned around. She grabbed both of my shoulders, and I instantly flinched when I felt her touch. Out of instinct, I almost reacted violently. I could feel the earth’s magic awakening, reacting to my violent reaction. In the corner of my peripheral vision, I saw a nearby vine slithering slowly towards Olivia. The vine was about to strike and rip through her heart. My connection to my earth element was so raw, and strong, sometimes the plants themselves acted out of their own will.
I clenched my fist and waited for her to say something. Few more minutes, and the vine will surely attack, with or without my command. That’s the thing about earth magic, stubborn and unyielding.
" You will see to it that you won’t disappoint me again will you Carina? ”
She cautioned me, quietly staring intensely into my eyes. I bit my lower lip and clenched my fist even harder. She was talking down to me, threatening me. I smiled forcefully, grinding my teeth. I could feel, the veins in my temple throbbing, with rage.
" After all you are one of my most talented witch in the coven."
She finished as anger crept into her voice, on the last note. I don’t think even she was aware of it. I just nodded as she walked away slowly and gracefully into the streets. Just as she disappeared out of sight, one of her minions, Allison, Stayed behind to Exchange a few words with me.
Allison Friedman is the coven self-proclaimed guardian, with an all-consuming ambition to succeed as Olivia’s right-hand woman. Allison is fairly tall, physically fit and very muscular. The woman was ripped, she was like the female version of Dwayne Johnson. She had long blond hair braided in a Mohawk and feral looking grey eyes. Alison also had a huge claw mark scar running from the left eye, all the way down to her throat, which she received from Selena the local she-wolf.
Today she wore a black leather jacket, a white crop top displaying her toned six pack abs and very tight dark skinny jeans. Alisson was also staunchly devoted to Olivia and the coven. It’s fair to say we never really got along.
" You bring shame to our coven and our fellow sisters. How long do you intend to insult our high priestess? I will have you know, I will not tolerate this type of behavior. Your disrespectful ways to our coven and your arrogance towards our high priestess ends today. Miss the next coven ritual, and you’ll see what happens. I beg of you carina! give me a reason to tear you apart.”
She hissed with a sadistic smile. Allison tended to revel in the despair and fear she caused to others. Despite having relatively little magic, her will to summon and conjure beings from other dimensions was strong. Strong enough to conjure the bloody whip.
An ancient powerful bladed whip, with a mind of its own. It loved nothing more than to slice, dice and paint the walls red. The whip gave her the ability to enter battle ready bloodlust mode when riled up. She’ll be slashing and hacking like a madman! I saw her fight vampires that came to town a few months ago. She moved faster and more psychotically becoming far, far deadlier with each kill she made.
I on the other hand just kept smiling politely and nodding my head to everything she said. We stood in an awkward silence neither one of us saying anything. She eventually realized I wasn’t going to say anything. Satisfied, she got her point across, she gave me a smug smile and walked away, her black high heels clicking in her awake.
I breathed in relief when she was out of sight, not because I feared her or the coven. I was very confident in my Magic skills, Not only was I an Elementalist I was also skilled Arcane Grandmaster. This skills, of course, were all deep secrets I kept from my coven. As my grandmother would say Sometimes it’s better to not say anything and keep your mouth shut and when they least expect it... DESTROY THEM! Olivia on the other had no real power or influence over me or anyone for that matter. She was just a puppet for the celestial council and was just too dumb and blinded by her ambitions to realize it.
