This conversation, of course, seems to convince my friends (Emily) that I was in love with her. The main reason I don't tell them who I am is to keep them safe, you know, that whole cliche superhero thing, but at this point, I'm almost sure they could talk or annoy a wrongdoer to submission.
Seriously, it's a wonder my introverted-self can keep up sometimes. One of the perks of being a wallflower I suppose (Is that how that reference goes?)
Staring at the blank looks and wide eyes on my friend's faces, I start losing it a little.
"Oh please, we all know that I get overly passionate during arguments! So take whatever comments any of you were about to make, and stuff it!" Well if that didn't get my point across...
Emily Brearley was the first to comment.
"Ok, calm your tits, we get it." They don't but that's the best I'm going to get right now. The bell rings, though none of us make to leave. Lunch breaks never last long enough.
"Okay ladies, time for English." I am gathering my things and join Tara, Isabel, Aneca and Emily for the walk to C block.

School is finally over for the day, a sentiment every student shares, just that one day closer to the weekend. However, unlike some regular people, I can't wait until the weekend for my escapades. It's only the second week of the term and I'm so done. Wow, that means I've been doing magic for a bit over a month now.
Getting back to now. I'm in New York again. What can I say, it has a great atmosphere, plus I didn't get to explore properly last time. And I may or may not be keeping an eye for a pair of twins. This is the best I could without actually stalking them.
Instead of sticking near Times Square, I'm near a bunch of office buildings, probably close to the accounting office that I entered last time I was here.
I realise I should take a look around me before transforming in public. Or, you know, transform before I teleport. But I'm terminally lazy.
I'm surprised to note the costume is familiar. In fact, it's the same one I wore in China; brown leather jacket, silver singlet, jeans and combat boots.
Similar to last time I was here, it's not a long wait until law enforcement catches my attention. Seriously, how crime-riddled is this city? I start sprinting in the direction of the sirens.
And come face to face with a burning building. Shit, how do I do this?! And every moment I waste could be lives lost... Ok, deep breath, calm down. My costume is bullet-proof, so surely it's fire-proof too? Only one way to find out.
Before I can back myself out of this. (frankly, poor) decision, I walk back a bit, and sprint towards the edge of the building. I barely even register it when I'm flying through the air towards a large window on the side of the building. I realise too late, that I don't know how to properly jump through a window.
I may or may not have cursed heavily enough after impact to even put my Irish descendants to shame. Before choking on smoke. God, I'm going to die. I'm so dumb. Luckily none of the glass seems to have pierced my skin, so I won't die from blood loss. Probs smoke inhalation though.
Smoke and flames rush towards me, towards the new source of oxygen, forcing me to close my eyes and turn slightly so my face doesn't bear the brunt of the impact. I haven't been here even a minute and I'm in so much pain.
I can barely see a foot in front of me due to the flames leaping out at me. From what I can glimpse, it seems like an apartment complex. An apartment complex on fire that is.
"Hello, is anyone still here?" I begin walking forward tentatively., using my jacket collar to cover my mouth. "Does anyone need help?" No answer, just the crackling of burning wood.
I'm so dumb. I should've just let the fire department do their job, now they're going to come up here and find my dead body-coughing? Ohmygodcoughingsomeone'sstilluphereshitshitshit. "Hey, where are you?" A woman replies weakly.
"I'm over here!" Real helpful lady.
"Just keep talking! I'll come to you!" She continues yelling until I find her in one of the apartments. "Ok, are you alright? Are you hurt?" She shakes her head. "Is there anyone else here?"
"Not that I know of." Alright, I can do this. I think.
"Ok, I'm going to get you out of here, hold on to me tightly and don't let go." I can feel myself shouting louder to be heard over the roaring flames. She grabs hold of my arm and I teleport, placing us both outside the entrance of the building. The woman barely manages out a 'thank you' to me amongst all the shrieking of sires and people. I teleport back inside. I slowly make my way through the floors, passing firefighters twice who attempted to help me.
My eyes are constantly watering and my breaths are shallow, trying to gasp for air that is slowly disappearing. If I don't get out of here soon, I'm actually going to die.
"Help! Please, someone help us!" What the hell? This is the ground floor, what are they still doing here? "Please, anyone!"
"Don't worry, I'm coming!" I make my way over to the voice, determined to use what little energy I have left to save these people. And live through this experience.
I stumble into an open room full of flaming debris and cars, probably once a garage. Crap! This place is a ticking time bomb! At the centre of the room, I notice two figures, a boy and a girl, holding each other. As I make my way over to them, dodging falling debris, notice they look familiar... Jesus Jubilee, it's the twins!
Geez, they don't look too good. Though I doubt I do either. My hair's probably burned off at this point.
"I'm going to get you guys out of here, just stay close got it?" I hesitate before shrugging off y jacket and handing it to them and head towards the garage door. This isn't going to be easy. I could feel my energy draining since I entered the building. I'm too spent to teleport one person out of here, let alone two.
We make it over and it seems the garage door has been forced open to make a space. Probably rupturing from the impact of some debris or something. I kick it to push it open some more. I hear cracking above my head and speed up my work, desperately kicking at the metal, forcing it to budge open. The cracking gets louder, and I shove the two twins towards the now sizeable gap and through it.
Moments before I feel a hot, painful pressure on my back and the orange flames around me turn to black.
