I pet his head as we walk into the library. Jake hiccups as he looks at me with his silly grin, I smile back and he reaches up. I chuckle and give him my hat, he giggles and runs to the computers. I shake my head and look around; putting my hands in my pockets.
I see a guy in a corner of one of the bookshelves, reading. I sniff and pick up Jake, sitting him on my lap, “You gonna be good today?”
Jake bounces and nods, I smile and kiss his forehead, “Don’t go runnin’ off, go where I can see you, yeah?” he nods and hops down off my lap. When I start writing, I see Jake sitting in front of the guy in the corner and tilts his head. Jake looks at me and smiles, pointing at the guy.
I raise an eyebrow and move away from the computer, I stand behind Jake and put a hand on his head, “Why do you bother people Jake? You’re such a handful,” I say teasingly. He huffs and hits my leg, I chuckle and swat him away playfully, “Sorry, he’s a curious little thing,”
“It’s alright, no need to say sorry,” The guy says calmly. I pat Jakes' head and turn, “C’mon,” Jake looks at the guy then at me and nods. He sits on my lap and watches me type, at some point in time he fell asleep in my lap. His head against my chest. I look at the time 5:50 pm I click my tongue and log off the computer.
I pat Jakes' head and he stirs, “Gotta wake up bud, we gotta get home so I feed ya’,” he looks at me and blinks. He sniffs and rubs his head, looking around. He jumps off my lap and makes his way to the guy from earlier. He’s reading a different book from earlier.
Jake taps the guy's hand, making him look at Jake. The guy rubs his eyes, “Yeah?” Jake smiles and waves, he turns and runs back to me. I chuckle and run a hand through his hair, I tilt my head and look at the guy. He waves back slightly, yawning as he looks back at his book.
Looks like Jake made a friend. I chuckle and feel Jakes hand in mine. I smile and leave the library.
