Hades and I waited on the front porch, for Hades's twin brother to arrive. “So is he as surly as you?”

Hades snorted, “we might be identical twins, but he and I are exact opposites. He's more like your family, than ours. My parents wouldn't know a joke even if they'd been spelled to react to it.”

Well that explained a few things about Hades's temperament. The guy was beyond grumpy and serious. Honestly though, it was kinda fun to poke at him. I kicked at the broken masonry around one of the metal posts that held up the edge of the porch roof. “Since Chill and I aren't identical, does that really break something in our magic?”

“I don't think so, but this is the first time I've heard of it happening. By the way, you're being pretty nonchalant about everything. You just found out magic, goblins, fae, and boogiemen were real and you asking if something in your magic is broken?” He sounded incredulous and maybe a little confused.

I shrugged and grinned at him, “Chill and I are used to bombshells being dropped. Our whole lives have been non stop change, why would this be any different? I mean, didn't you see Chill before we came out here?” My brother had pulled out all of his gaming books and was grilling my parents about what was real and what wasn't. I'd have to grill him myself afterwards. He knew to dumb it down for me, so I could take it all in. “I think his biggest dream came true when everyone agreed that he had magic. I mean half his room is decked out in Ravenclaw gear. Next he'll be asking where his owl is so he can send letters.”

“Hogwarts isn't real, and we don't use owls to send letters.” Hades groaned.

I couldn't help but laugh at his expense. “Knowing Chill, he might make it his life's goal to make it real.”

“Oh for the love of gods, no.” Mr. Wizard groaned again.

Something told me he was going to do way more groaning before all of this was over, and I got a little, tiny, itsy bitsy bit of satisfaction out of that. Not that I'm a sadist or anything, but the guy needed to be shook up a bit. He was way too stuffy for a giant, extremely good looking, magic man.

Off in the distance there was a sweet sounding purr of a beautifully crafted engine, and it caught my attention. As it became louder, I found myself drifting away from the porch and closer to the road. I really wanted to get a look at the vehicle that made that sound. I got my wish and more, because it pulled up behind Hades motorcycle and parked.

“I'm in love.” I said, as I moved closer to the nineteen- thirties Maybach Zeppelin. The driver had just cut the engine and the sudden silence was a tragedy. “I want to have this car's babies! Come to mama.” I whispered and touched the raised headlight, then brushed my fingers along the perfect black paint job of the warmed hood.

A voice laughed behind me. It sounded like Hades, but I could tell immediately, that it wasn't. There was a lightness to the voice, a bubble to the laugh, that Hades would never have. I turned to the man and said, “Marry me.”
