The world was ablaze, littered with man-eating dinosaurs.
Well, mostly.
Jacquie watched as a red meteor hurtled across the sky. She walked into a nearby coffee shop and ordered a hot chocolate. She took a seat next to an iguanodon. It was talking to her about its day. Jacquie listened to it ramble on and on as two more meteors plummeted into Earth.
Without warning, Jacquie was ripped from the dream world and was sent into a massive void of swirling colors. "This again," she muttered. "Can you be a bit easier on the drop-off this time?" A violent shove downward told her no.
This time she had landed in the middle of a fight scene. She and all her friends were there, but slightly older. There were also two people she didn't know. One was a short, blond teen, shooting a bright light at the woman who had most likely started this fight. Jacquie could see another person, but it was darting across the room too fast for her to make out any features.
Jacquie watched as a spear flew into her older version's hands. She sent on a beeline for the lady's head. A dark copper light began emitting from the woman, the same shade as her hair. The light shot out in a shockwave, knocking everyone to the ground.
"That's ENOUGH!" she roared. "It's now time for all of you to pay for what you've done to me!" She paused and looked at the older Jacquie. "Especially you." She said strange words that Jacquie didn't know, incanting them like a spell. Then she finally said something in English. "Years of pain and years of strife now it's time to take a life!"
Both Jacquies had little time to react to her words. They both just watched, the older Jacquie with a look of horror on her face, as a beam of black light shot from her hands straight into Kyran.
"KYRAN!" they both shouted. The younger Jacquie ran to Kyran's side, but there was nothing she could do. She was like a ghost in this state. In fact, she was starting to fade.
"No!" she shouted to the sky. "You can't make me leave now! I need to see what happens! Tell me what happens next!"
It did nothing. She faded off even faster. She saw Kyran, still breathing, but it was slow and labored. Jacquie couldn't bear the sight of him like that. Something deep inside of her broke and she began to cry.
Everything— the sound, the walls, Jacquie— was fading faster and faster.
Now only Jacquie and a blurry Kyran remained. The older Jacquie entered the scene, kneeling at Kyran's side.
"Don't die, Kyran," she said, her voice echoing. Everything was gone but Jacquie thought she could still hear a faint voice speak.
"Please."
