I sigh as I look up from my book, “Earth to Liam,” I wave my hand in front of him. He grabs my hand and still looks at me. His lips parted slightly.
“Liam, you're spacing out again,” I hear Jake giggle as Liam snaps out of it and lets go of my hand.
“Sorry,” I shake my head, “It's alright,” he looks away, the tips of his ears a light pink.
“I guess… I should start writing,” he puts his earbuds in as a scowl grows on his face. He starts to type quickly. Jake giggles again and looks at me. I smile at him, opening a book we started two days ago. He sits in my lap and looks at the book. Liams face turns serious as he types. I smile as I look back down at the book, reading the pages.
“Uncle like chu,” I rub the back of his head, “Really now?” he nods as he reads and turns the page.
“His face was like a berry,” I chuckle as I read, “A strawberry or a raspberry?” I continue reading as I talk to him.
“Hmmm…..a strawberry,” I laugh lightly, still reading.
“You should try to date him,” I rub his head, as Liam looks up from his laptop.
“What?” I chuckle and shake my head, “Nothing, how’s the book going?” he shrugs “Goin’, I don’t think it would be like the others,”
“Really? What’s different this time?” he smiles playfully, “If I tell you it’ll be ruined, you just have to wait,”
“I’ll be waiting then,” I laugh. He grins then goes back to typing. Jake looks at me “Try?” I put my head on his, “Maybe,” he smiles and nods. We go back to reading as Liam types away.
Liam stops and sighs “First ten are done,” he slumps in his seat and yawns. “Good job,” I say quietly as I keep reading. He nods as he yawns again “What time is it?”
“You’re using a laptop, and I left my phone at home,” he grunts and looks at his laptop “It’s 5…..should I keep goin’ or maybe….I should take Jake home…” Jake looks up as his name is said, “What?”
“Should I take you home or keep writin’?” Jake shakes his head, “I don’t want to go,” He looks up at me.
“You don’t have to unless you rather stay with him,”
“I wanna be with both of you,” He looks back at Liam.“Should he come over with us for tonight then?” Jake nods and looks up at me, “Will you? You pinky promised,” He’s got me there, “I did, didn’t I? Sure, sounds like fun,” Liam smiles, “then let’s go,” he closes his laptop. Jake gets up, jumping around. I close my book, stacking them and picking them up, “All I have to do is return some and then I’m good to go,” Liam takes half of the books “Nu uh, you need sleep,” I reach for my books, “Hey, my books,” he puts them out of reach “no,”
“No, please give them back,” I plead as I look at him. He shakes his head and smiles. I put my hand back down, “Can I atleast take one with me? And return those?” I try to bargain.
“yes,” How am I going to pick one? I sigh and put down all of them but one, leaving the ones I need to return in my other arm.
“There,” I say sadly as I look at Liam.
“happy now,” I walk to the counter, placing my stack down and the one book I'm checking out, “Hey Gale,” I sigh. “Hey there Owen, only one book today?” I nod, “Yeah, sadly,” Liam smiles and puts an am around my shoulders. Gale looks at Liam, still checking out books, “Hey there, Liam,” She smiles, making her smile lines show.
“Hey Ms. Gale,” She finishes returning my books, pointing her finger at him, “Are you the one who didn't let this poor boy check out anymore books?” he nods “He won’t sleep, so I’ll make him sleep,” Gale laughs.
“I can't tell you how many times I've found this one sleeping in here,” Liam chuckles and puts a hand on my head.
“You ready?” I nod, picking up my one book, “Night, Gale,” She waves us off as we leave the library.
“Don’t look so sad, you need sleep so you don't fall asleep readin’” he chuckles. I let out a sigh, “I guess so,” I mumble. Jake looks at us and giggles softly. I scoop Jake up in my arms, “Can you believe he only let me take one book?” he grins, “Nope!” I smile, “Exactly, very weird isn’t it?” he nods, “Very very,” I look at Liam.
“See, your actions have officially been dubbed as weird,” Jake nods as I talk. Liam gives a rich laugh, “Really now? We’ll come back tomorrow, besides you won’t need them. Our house is practically a mini library with banned books. And don’t be started on books libraries can’t carry,”
“Really?” Liam nods, “You’ll love our house,” I nod, a smile on my face. I guess taking one book isn’t too bad. We arrive at a tall red brick house with two weeping willow trees.
“Wow, this house looks like it came right out of a book,” Liam looks at me sideways, “If you don’t know what this house is modeled after you didn’t read ‘The ending of Willows’” I let out a small gasp, “Yes I read the book, I didn’t think your house would be the model for it,” he gives a short laugh, “Yeah, I love this house. My favorite tree is the Weeping Willow,” I look at the house again. It’s a really beautiful home.
Liam walks to the front door and unlocks it. Jake rushes in and giggles. An array of books line up the entrance. I look around, “Wow,” I say softly as I walk through.
“Told you,” the smell of old books looms around softly as I walk. Jake ran to the middle of the living room, “Here we are!” His hands outwards.
Liam chuckles and goes to the living room and tilts his head “Yep, here we are,” I smile, “You guys have a lovely home,” I say as I go down to Jakes level, ruffling his hair.
“Why don’t I show Owen around and you go change for his afternoon?” Liam tilts his head. Jake nods, “Okay,” He says before he goes toward the stairs.
Liam looks at me “Want to see my study?” I nod, “Sure,” he goes to the stairs and runs a finger up the railing. We reach a wooden door and he opens up revealing a big room with books and a red couch.
“Cool,” I say as I look around, admiring the place. He shuts the door and looks around, “Yeah, it is,” I put my hands behind my back as I walk around the room, soon picking up one of the books on the shelf. I feel Liam put his hands on my waist. I glance back before I look back down at the book.
“Owen,” I hum as I stay focused on the book.
“Owen,” I look away from the book and back at him, “Yeah?” he leans in closer and his lips brushed against mine. I feel his hands on my waist tighten a little. I hesitate before I kiss him back softly. He pulls back and looks at me. I turn around, facing him. I stay quiet before I whisper, “You stole me,” his eyes widen then he tilts his head, “Did I?” he whispers back. I raise my hand to my lips, “You did.”
Liam hums softly, “I guess I did,” I feel my face heat up slowly the more I look at him.
“Is this the first time I’m seein’ your face turn a different shade? My my,” he teases. I rub the side of my face, “Yeah yeah,” I don’t usually get this flustered. He chuckles and softly kisses me again. I put my hand on his cheek as we kiss.
“Guess I stole you again huh?” he says against my lips. I smile, “I guess so,” he smiles and runs a hand through his hair “Maybe we should see what Jake is up to, or you stay here and read,”
“Let’s see what Jake is doing,” he nods and moves away. Opening the door. I put the book back where it was, heading out the door. We walk downstairs to see Jake reading a book of poetry.
“Hey bud,” I say as I sit next to him.
“Hi,” he looks at me “you’re a berry too,” I chuckle, “Which berry am I?”
“Raspberry,” I laugh lightly, “I guess I am a raspberry,”
“Yep! Uncle, what’s for dinner?” he asks as he puts the book down. Liam hums “Chicken,” Me and Jake both say a soft ‘Ooo’.
“I’ll go make that now,” Liam looks at me and smirks. I shake my head as I smile, going back to Jake. He looks at me and curls in my lap. I rub his hair, “You okay buddy?”
“Mhm,” I smile at him, “What were you reading?”
“Poetry,” I nod, “Yeah, but what’s is it about? Which one were you reading?”
“The Years by a girl named Sara...Teas..dale,” I smile, “Teasdale,” he nods “Made me sad,”
“Awe, what was it about?”
“People who missed each other,” I rub his head, “Sounds interesting,” he nods as we hear plates, “Ready to eat?” I ask Jake. He nods and jumps up. I laugh and stand up, following him to their kitchen. It was cream walls rooms with brown cabinets. Liam had glasses on and setting chicken and pasta on plates. Jake rushes over, pulling a chair over and standing on it to get something from the cabinet. He gets down placing cups on the counter.
“Thank you,” Liam says calmly. Jake nods, “No problem!” I chuckle and put the chair back where he grabbed it. Liam opens the white fridge “green or orange?”
“Orange!” Jake says, making me laugh, “I’ll also have orange,” Liam nods and pours an orange liquid in the cups; making one cup green. He sets the table and sits down, Jake and me sitting down after, “This looks really good,”
“Thanks,” he picks up a fork and starts eating. I start to eat too, Jake eating quickly, avoiding the vegetables.
“Jake,” Liam says as he keeps eating. Jake looks at him, “But they’re not good,” Jake pouts, playing with his food. Liam looks up and points a fork at him “Eat ‘em, Mister,” Jake slouches in his seat, eating one of the vegetables. Liam looks at me and smiles faintly. I smile back before I got back to eating.
After we all finish Liam pats Jake on the head “Good job,” Jake smiles, “Thanks,” I give Jake a high five making him giggle. Liam puts the plates in the sink and then looks at Jake “One hour of readin’ then bed,” Jake nods “Yep!” he looks at me and hugs my torso. I laugh and pick him up, “Which book are you gonna read?”
He scrunches up his face “Mmmm, Star’s Legend,”
“And where might that be?”
“In my room,” I look at Liam, “Lead the way, I have no idea where that is,” he nods and moves past me. We go up the stairs and open the door to the right, showing an orange room with all of Liam's books and pictures around the room. I look at Jake, “I like your room, it's my favorite color,”
“Mine too! Uncles is blue,” I laugh lightly, setting Jake down. He grabs the book and sits on his bed. Liam kisses his head “Light’s out in an hour,” he nods and opens the book. Liam looks at me and tilts his head.
“You stayin’ or comin’ with me?”
“I’ll go with you,” I look at Jake, “Night Jake,” I say as I ruffle his hair. Jake giggles and says goodnight, going back to his book. Me and Liam leave his room, me closing the door after.
Liam walks across the hall and opens the door to his study. I follow him, going inside first. He closes the door and sits on the couch, he looks at me “Come here,” I walk over to him, “Yeah?” he pulls me down, making me sit between his legs “I’m your heater, remember?” I laugh lightly and put my head on his shoulder, “Yeah, you’re one big heater,” I say softly.
“And you’re an icicle, I guess I have to melt you,” I laugh lightly, “I guess you do,” he smiles and tilts his head. He kisses me softly while his arms tighten around me. I smile as he kisses me. He chuckles and deepens the kisses. He pulls back and buries his face in my neck. We stay like that for a little while before I start to feel tired, yawning.
“Tired?” I shake my head, “No, I haven’t read anything yet,”
He chuckles “You can feel tired if you don’t read,”
“But I wanna read before I sleep,” I yawn again, covering my mouth.
“Well you can, but I’ll take the book away if it’s too late,” I nod, “Okay,” he lets me go “Go get one,” I stand up, looking around the room before I take a book from the shelf. He raises an eyebrow “Got one?” I nod.
“Then come back,” I go back to him, sitting back down in between his legs. He puts his chin on my shoulder “Nice pick,” I nod, “Yeah,” I open the book, starting it.
In the middle of the book Liam hums softly “One more chapter, then you are sleepin’,” I nod my head slightly, not paying attention as I read. As I end a chapter, Liam takes the book.
“Hey! I was reading that,” I try to reach to the book. He shakes his head “Nu uh, it’s 12:30, you’re sleepin’”
“But-” he kisses me, “No,” I look at him, “I was at the good part though,”
“No, you can read it in the mornin’” I sigh as I give up, “Okay,” he puts the book down “Wanna sleep in here or in my room?” I shrug, “I’m okay with where ever,” he chuckles “We can stay in here,” I nod, “Okay,”
He taps my leg “Here, get up for a minute,” I stand up. He gets up and leaves and comes back with different clothes on and a blanket, “Alright,” he puts the blanket down and disappears again. He comes back with clothes “Here,” I look at the clothing, “Thanks,”
“I’ma check on Jake while you change,” I nod, “Got it,” He leaves the room, shutting the door. I take off my clothes, putting on the shorts and tying them. He knocks on the door softly, “Yeah?” I ask as I put on the shirt, adjusting it and picking up my other clothes.
“Can I come in?”
“Yeah,” I say as I put my clothes down on a surface. He opens the door and looks at me, “Wow,”
“What?” I question as I look at him.
“You look….” he closes the door, still focused on me. I tilt my head, waiting for him to continue.
“Blasted bolcrane,” he tsks. I laugh lightly as he says the language from most of his books, “What is it?”
“I hate that you look so cute,” he puts his hands on my hips, “What?”
“You’re so enticin’, litches you’re adorable,” I laugh as he continues to use his own words. He pulls me closer and kisses me “I wanna make you melt,” I shake my head as I smile.
He kisses my nose “Les’ get to sleep,” I nod, “Okay,” he sits on the couch and and spreads his arms. I sit down, and he puts the cover on both of us. I let out a sigh as I feel warmer.
“Night Owen,”
“Night Liam,” I say softly, closing my eyes.
I wake up to, arms around my waist. I yawn and rub my eyes, still feeling the warmth behind me. I hear someone hum “Mornin’”
“Morning,” I yawn as I look back at him. He smiles “Good sleep?” I nod, “Yeah,”
“Good, see what happens when you don’t stay up all night?”
“But it was a really good book,” he reaches behind him “Here,” I smile, “Yay, thanks,” he kisses my cheek, “You’re welcome,” he kisses my neck softly. I give a small laugh, “What are you doing?” he hums and kisses my ear, “You didn’t answer,” I say lightly.
“Nothin’,” his voice softens, making me smile. He nips the tip of my ear “Hmm, you taste weird,” I look back at him.
“I do?” he nods and licks my ear. I shiver, “What do I taste like,” That's a weird sentence.
“mm maybe something sweet,”
“Really?” he nods “Yep,” I look back at him, “That's interesting,” he bites my neck softly. I close my eyes, moving my head slightly. He bites along my neck slowly, then stops at the base of my neck and licks my collarbone. I tremble a little, biting my lip. He chuckles “What a face,” he bites softly where he licked. I jolt as he bites me, leaning back into him.
He moves up and bites harder, “L-Liam,” I gasp. He hums as he keeps going. I dip my head forward, trying not to make a sound. He bites behind my ear as he holds me tighter. I let out a breath, “You sure do bite a lot,” I say out of breath.
“Would you rather me lick then? ‘Cause I can do both,” I feel my ears go red at the question. He chuckles and licks down my neck slowly, as the end biting my neck. I let out a mo_an as I shiver.
