The food was incredibly delicious.
Ethan's Mac and Cheese, despite us originally being freaked out by it, actually tasted quite good. I had the first bite of it, and it felt like my eyes were lighting up in surprise.
"Oh my goodness Ethan, what the heck did you put in this? The explosion––"
"––of flavors in your mouth is absolutely wonderful? That's what I said when I tasted it. A magician never reveals their secrets, you see." Ethan laughed, finishing my sentence. The girls congratulated me on my Shepard's Pie, ranking second in the food-rating contest. The girls both–– funnily enough––made a cake for dessert. That wasn't half bad either.
With our stomachs full to the brim, we all leaned back and stared at each other for moments on end.
"Geez, I couldn't eat another bite... thanks for inviting me, you guys. This was fun," I managed to wheeze out. The others moaned a 'you're welcome' in the same tired voice I had. Tuesday eventually got up and waddled slowly to the bathroom, while I got up and started to clean up. Throwing cups and plates away, wrapping up food and putting it away, and burping everyone were only a couple of my specialties. I climbed back into my chair and heaved out a big sigh.
"So, when are we going to actually get into Turf War? Like a real Turf War battle...?" Tuesday said as she exited the bathroom, a flush being heard throughout the room.
"We can do it... tomorrow... AFTER we digest our food..." Vanessa groaned, facing me in her chair. She started to giggle at me, stretching and waving her hand at her.
"Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey." She said jokingly. I turned to her, eyebrow raised.
"Uh, yes?" I questioned, confused by her domineer.
"Did you... um... maybe want to go out with my family tomorrow? They're supposed to be coming over, so maybe we could all do something together?" I looked over at Ethan, who had his eyes closed. Don't tell me he was sleeping.
"Ethan. Ethan!" I gave up trying to get his attention, and ended up pointing to him instead. "Is he coming with us?"
"No, he said he had to visit his own parents to talk some things out with them. It'll just be me, Tuesday, and you, if you wanted to come." I put my hand to my chin, thinking this over.
Geez, meeting Vanessa and Tuesday's parents are a huge step... and Vanessa already met my mom... their old home is so fancy, so they must be fancy too... what if I make a fool out of myself? What if I don't meet their standards?
I grabbed at the tentacle tail of my hair, slowly dripping into insanity.
What if... what if what if... AUUUUUAAAGGGHHH!!!
"I'll do it! What time should I be here?" I reluctantly answered with a bit too much enthusiasm.
I hope they'll be understanding...

And soon, it was off. The train chugga-chugged into the night sky, moving slowly through the grassy fields and metal tracks. Unfortunately, I climbed onto the train which went to my stop last. It was alright, especially for a night like this. It meant keeping to myself on the train and leaning back in the somewhat soft seats. I went back to my thoughts, slowly sinking into the chair as I did.
However, my worried thoughts turned into mindless thinking, quickly changing over to realizing that the conductor called my stop. I hopped off and up the stairs to my apartment, fumbling for my keys like I always did. Entering into my domain, I threw my bag onto the couch and went into my room, laying flat on my back on my bed. Looking up at the ceiling, I transitioned back into my thoughts once more.
They're going to like me. I just know they will.
Something started to ring in the living room. Curious, I scurried into it, looking around to see what it was. It seemed to be coming from the couch.
Duh, it's my phone.
I reached over and nabbed it from my bag, placing it in my room this time. I sat on the couch and clicked the phone on.
One new text... from Tuesday... 'Are you nervous?'
Usually, I didn't like when people text me anonymous questions like that. But since it was Tuesday, I obviously let it slide.
'A little bit... but I think I'll get over it. You'll be there, right?' I typed back on the small phone. I looked out the window while waiting for a response, eventually getting one moments later. The bustle was still going on outside, nevertheless slowing down due to it being late.
'Mostly. I like to avoid my parents. They're mean, unruly and downright scary. I'll be here, sure, but I won't be there. Catch my drift?'
'No, not really.'
'That's kind of why we invited you. I mean, no offense, you're a cool dude and everything, but we don't like being near/associating with them. They're not terrible people, they raised us well. But they gave us terrible memories. Memories we don't want to think about.'
'Oh.' was all I replied back. That's some heavy stuff. I smiled though, as I had something to poke her back with.
'You're using the word dude like Ethan. You have to hots for him, don't you?'
'...NO!' I bursted out laughing when I received her reply. She was totally denying it.
'Alright then, I'll take your word for it. Get some rest, Tuesday. We've got a big day tomorrow.'I turned my phone off and crawled into bed, sliding the covers over my body and up to my neck. I put my phone on the charger, it suddenly coming to life again. I peered at it, my eyelids feeling droopy, just like they did earlier.
'You're right.'
