At lunch, all four girls sat at the table, without Quinn.
“Where’s Quinn?” Neveah asked.
“She said something about the principal wanting to talk to her or something.” Stratus sighed.
“So about this morning?” Izzy asked.
“What about it?” Stratus asked.
“Uh hello? Are you Quinn a thing yet?” Harley asked.
“What! I don’t even like her like that.” She denied.
All three girls gave a collected sigh.
“Seriously Stratus we all know you do.” Harley shook her head.
“Do not!”
“Then why were you getting all jealous for?” Izzy asked.
“I wasn’t!”
“Denial.” Neveah sang.
“Will you all just shut up. I don’t know what I feel. I’m confused. Especially after last night.”
“Last night?” Izzy leaned in.
“We sort of kissed.”
“I knew it.” Neveah shook her head.
“Shut up! It was the heat of the moment kind of thing. She was opening up to me, telling me about what’s been bothering her. Next thing I know we are making out. I liked it, until…”
“Until you saw how dead she is inside?” Neveah offered.
Harley snorted in amusement.
“No, until I saw her arm glowing.” Stratus poked at her food not meeting their eyes.
There was a moment of silence.
“Come again?” Izzy asked.
“Okay don’t laugh, but I saw her arm glowing her right arm! It was lighting up blue like she had led’s in her shirt or something.”
“Are you serious?” Neveah raised an eyebrow.
“Yes! I know it sounds stupid but I know what I saw!”
“Incoming,” Izzy warned.
All the girls went back to casually eating as Quinn approached and took her usual seat pulling out her lunch box.
“Word of advice if you are just talking about someone behind their back, don’t make it obvious by suddenly going silent.” Quinn rolled her eyes.
“What happened with the principal?” Izzy asked.
“To prevent further distraction the school thinks it would be best if I stayed home. I told them to kiss my ass, that it was a free country, and no charges have been filed yet.” Quinn popped open her cold pasta.
“How did they take it?”
“Well they tried to fight me, but I told them that if they were wrong and I was innocent they could bet they would be hearing from my lawyer. That shut them up real quick.” She snorted in amusement.
“I bet it did,” Nevaeh commented.
“Anyways, what were you guys talking about that you can’t say it to my face?” Quinn asked.
The three girls looked to Stratus. Quinn followed their line of vision and raised an eyebrow at Stratus.
“I was just telling them about last night, about how we um, you know, kissed.” Stratus stammered.
“Oh, I see.” Quinn rolled her eyes.
“Oh get off it.”
“What? I didn’t say anything.” Quinn smirked.
“Don’t look at me with that cocky grin.” She hissed.
“What were you talking about exactly, how good of a kisser I am?” She wiggled her eyebrows at Stratus.
Straus went red in the face.
“More like how much of a player you are. I would like to point out that everyone at this table except Izzy has kissed you.”
“Wanna join the club?” Quinn turned to Izzy.
“I can’t believe you!” Stratus swatted at Quinn.
“What? I was just kidding. Mostly.” She winked at Izzy.
Izzy giggled.
“Ugh!”
“If you want me, I’m all yours.” Quinn purred to Stratus.
Stratus huffed and turned away from Quinn, who in turn frowned.
“You two are ridiculous.” Harley shook her head in amusement.
After school Stratus got to ride in Izzy’s beat up truck, while Harley got to ride in the Porsche.
“No fair.” Stratus pouted as she watched the top go down.
“Where did she even get that car?” Nevaeh asked.
“It was her dads, now hers.”
They listened as the engine revved to life and the radio came on now blasting Paramore’s Ain’t it fun. Harley cheered and shot her hands in the air as the car peeled out of the school lot. The three girls sighed as Izzy’s truck sputtered to life.
“So how did the cops not find the weed?” Harley asked as the two walked into her house.
“I hid it.” Quinn shrugged.
“Still.”
“Still nothing, I am the master at hiding things.” Quinn walked to her room and pulled up her carpet.
Harley watched as she removed a cement slab from the ground and in the secret hole was her weed and a black box. Quinn pulled the weed out before covering the hole back up and moving the carpet back.
“What’s in the box?” Harley asked.
“You really wanna know?” Quinn wigged her eyebrows.
“Do I?” Harley laughed.
“Sex toys.” Quinn shrugged.
“Ew! You kept my weed with your sex toys.” Harley playfully swatted at her.
“What, it worked didn’t it?”
Harley laughed as the two went out back to smoke a joint.
At Stratus’s house Neveah, Izzy, and Stratus sat on her bed.
“The arm glowing wasn’t the only weird thing. Did you guys know Quinn has a secret bunker right under her living room! It is super creepy.” She shuddered going back into her weird tale.
“Wait what?”
“Yeah and there is like some freaky circle drawn on the floor, looks really cultish. The cops saw it and everything! But I was thinking, maybe it’s not for a cult.” Stratus went on.
“I don’t like where you are going with this.” Izzy shook her head.
“Come on! Glowing arm, creepy cult room, she’s a witch!”
“Stratus, as your friend it is my duty to inform you that you have indeed lost your fucking mind.” Neveah patted her back.
“Shut up! I’m serious! I know what I saw. It was lighting up like fucking Christmas.”
“Witches aren’t real.” Izzy pointed out.
“Yeah, next thing you know Alice will rise from the dead as a vampire.” Neveah snorted.
“Or a zombie,” Izzy added.
“You guys! Take me seriously! Quinn is a witch! I just know it. I can feel it inside of me. I know she is.”
“Let’s say we do believe you, even though we don’t, then what?”
“Well, we have to prove it. We need a way to prove Quinn really is a witch.” Stratus said.
“This is silly.” Izzy sighed.
“Look just hear me out, this weekend we go to that Wicca shop I bought the candle at. We don’t tell Quinn, just us. Someone there sold me that candle, they must know something.”
“When do we go?”
“Sunday, after the S.A.T.’s Quinn doesn’t know what time I get out so I’ll just lie and say I get out an hour later than I do. Izzy comes to pick me up, we go to the shop and get to the bottom of this.”
“Fine, but I’m only agreeing to this to prove to you how stupid this is,” Neveah said.
“Sure, I’m in, but what about Harley?”
“We will have to fill her in, she will be in charge of distracting Quinn,” Stratus said.
“Quinn is going to be so pissed when she finds out about this.”
“She won’t find out. If we all keep our mouths shut we can do this without her knowing. We just have to play it cool and act normal.”
“I don’t get you. Instead of just admitting you are in love with the girl, you want to go on a witch hunt, literally?”
“I am not in love with her!”
“Right…” Izzy dragged the word out.
“I just have to do this, to ease my own conscience. I can’t commit to anything until I put these demons to bed once and for all.”
“If you say so.” Neveah shrugged.
With that, the girls dropped the subject and went into actually studying. Little did they know what exactly they were in for.
