It was an intricate and somewhat incessant process to create SPAWN. It was all too surreal, too lucid for the ordinary brain to understand.
Nonetheless, being the evil genius that I was, it still took time. The project had me in bondage, especially after my wife had died from the monster.
"From the monster." I bowed my eyebrows, blinking slowly.
And there he was, floating in front of me. A white haired, blue eyed being. A monster.
Doleful and ghastly, he breathed, like a person during the wintertime. In and out, creating a fog that echoed through the blank coat that went all of the way down to his shoes. A slow echo, in and out.
I started to shudder, as we had been floating for a bit of time. Because I had been staring at the singular button that held his coat together, I looked up at his eyes. They taunted back at mine. I shrieked and pushed him back, like a box with wheels at the bottom. He slid a couple feet back, still staring at me in the distance.
"G-Get away from me... you posthumous creature, you!" No emotion was inscribed on his face. Nothing had changed.
"You think you can atone for the countless lives you've just impoverished?" I hampered my voice, not trying to make him too mad. He seemed to keep still.
"You don't even have a credible reason, do you?" I pointed at the being. "I know you. Mark created you. Mark created you to help others, just like he did. I don't know how you're going to defray, but... are you even listening?" I yelled at him, crossing my arms in a sardonic fashion.
I blinked again, and there we was, floating in front of me yet again. He continued to stare, and I started to feel queasy.
"What are you doing... you..." I closed my eyes, starting to feel myself soar downwards in the sky.
SPAWN!!!
-~-
I jolted forward in my seat, gasping for air. I looked around, then down in my chair.
A chair that I was conveniently tied to.
I was back in the lab, sitting in the center of it all. Tables upon tables of inventions were knocked over and tossed all around. SPAWN was floating above a table, watching me. The table he was floating over was prim yet superfluous with what was on it. I couldn't tell what was on it from where I was sitting, however.
"Listen, you bastard... let me go, NOW!" I screamed, being diligent with struggling under my constraints. They hewed me down tight, making me unable to move much. I grunted and squirmed, but they wouldn't budge.
"What is your problem? What do you want?" I yelled at the floating being, still in my chair after numerous attempts of escape. It continued to stare at me, unending and honestly very creepily.
A faint scratch became audible, making me look down towards the door. SPAWN did so as well, questionable looks forming on both of our faces. SPAWN floated to the door silently, staring at it as well. I saw drips coming from the door, then a puddle.
He's melting the door with his mind.
My eyes widened in fear.
This is some opponent we're going up against here.
KLANG!
I saw SPAWN fly across the sky and slam into the metal wall, sliding down to the ground, dizzy. I shot back at the door to see Louisiana come to my rescue, sliding down to where the ropes were, untying them swiftly.
"Oh, Louisiana, thank god. How did you know where I was? I told you to stay put!" I growled.
"If I would have stayed put, where would you be right now?" I raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Good point." I slipped out of the chair and stood up, facing SPAWN. "I have a bone to pick with you, you son on a-" However, SPAWN was nowhere to be seen. I held my breath and turned to Louisiana, handing her the two pistols.
"Thank you for saving me, little one. You've earned these. But use them wisely, OK?" The girl nodded reassuringly, smiling.
"Now where did that devil go..." I drew out my sword and looked around the room, but he left no trace of entering or leaving.
Louisiana fiddled with the pistols and shot around in the air, waiting for SPAWN to reappear.
"Maybe it's not here? Maybe he left to go terrorize something else..." Louisiana whispered, holding the guns tightly.
"I don't know... he can melt doors with his mind... he, or it, has something against us. This was the monster Mark was talking about." I sighed. I turned around to see the white figure floating there, grinning evilly. For the first time, he showed his teeth.
His very sharp and potentially harmful teeth.
I shrieked angrily and swung my sword at him, slicing him into two. SPAWN stood floating there, his second half floating at him as well. My eyes widened as I took another angry swing, but it had the same effect.
"Louisiana, stay close to me. Louisiana?" I looked down to see her already clutching my leg in fear, shaking. I took a step back, before running off, carrying the scared girl in my arms. SPAWN followed suit, glowing a bright blue behind us. His teeth became more prominent than before. He glued himself back together slowly before launching himself at us. I whacked him with the side of the sword, sending him to a pile of inventions. I set Louisiana down.
"You're going to need to protect yourself. Don't flinch, only fight." I uttered to her as SPAWN rose into the air. He was tilted to the side, like a rod bent out of shape. I narrowed my eyes and jumped towards the monster, shoving my sword through his button. SPAWN twitched as I pulled it out of him, flipping down to the ground to watch how it would react.
"Avrilon... I think you made it mad..." I looked back at the girl, then at SPAWN, who now had a layer of spikes around it.
Oh no.
