I watched as SPAWN became bigger, the spikes around him doing the same. I threw my sword at it, hoping that it would pierce the shell of spikes. I ran towards it and shoved the sword in deeper, growling.
"Die, you monster! Louisiana, light it up!" I pulled the sword out and activated the Roots, slashing the spikes off of SPAWN. I picked up Louisiana so she could be more accurate with her shots, activating her pair of Roots as well. The room suddenly became overwhelmed with blue, and my eyes widened in fear.
"Louisiana, get down!" I flew at her and pulled her to the corner before SPAWN exploded, sending objects flying around the room. I breathed hard, pulling Louisiana up into my arms.
"You OK, kiddo?" I asked her. She groaned and nodded.
"It just... took me by surprise." I chuckled and ruffled her hair.
"You just have to pay attention and act fast, that's all." I turned around to look at SPAWN, picking up Louisiana as well. His eyes seemed to be shaking in anger, as if he knew he was losing.
"On my mark. I know you can do this. Mark's blood is in you. He'd know exactly what to do." I smirked as we charged towards SPAWN, guns and swords ablaze.
That was our moment. That was our chance.
SPAWN was thrown across the room, dissipating into the room next to the one we were in. I smiled and dived through the hole that SPAWN burned through earlier, with Louisiana following suit. I looked up to see SPAWN floating in the room where it was first seen.
Where it was first born.
I smiled and slid my sword back into its carrier. The fight was over. We had won. SPAWN stared at us through the glass, unmoving once again. It was thinking. I held onto Louisiana tightly.
"You did good. You did good." I repeated to her. She giggled, burying her head in the leg of my pants.
"Thank you... but how are we going to get rid of this monster?" The girl asked quietly. I sighed and stared back it, walking up to the glass. I peered at it, placing my fingers on the glass where his head was. SPAWN closed its eyes, but remained floating.
"Are you petting him? Are you petting the thing that tried to kill us?" Louisiana freaked out at my action. I smiled and continued.
"Everything needs a second chance, Louisiana." I said, walking to the door of the room. Louisiana looked at me in fear.
"You're not going in there with it..." I waved my hand at her, motioning her to hush. I closed the door behind me and crept up to SPAWN.
"Hey there. I'm sorry for the harsh actions." SPAWN remained silent, glancing back at the door. I smiled, moving the hair out of my eyes.
"I know what you were created for, and you didn't serve your purpose. Mark created you to help. Why didn't you help?" I questioned. SPAWN turned to the girl, then back to me quietly. His coat swayed back and forth in the empty room, as if it was trying to communicate for him. I sighed and decided to lean against the wall, staring back at him.
"I know why. You were afraid. You didn't know what was going on, or where you were, or even how you were made." I looked at the ground, brushing away dust with my foot.
"I'm sorry. Mark is sorry. But listen, all you need is some guidance. Some place to call home. Go see the world, don't destroy it." SPAWN flicked its head at me angrily, his eyes starting to glow.
"Avrilon, LOOK OUT!" Louisiana screamed as she burst through the door, pushing SPAWN away from me. I coughed up a bit of blood before sinking to the ground, holding onto Louisiana tightly.
"Bastard tried to get me... good thing I got him back..." I glanced over at SPAWN to see a neat little present jammed right in its eye.
A piece of SOuND technology.
The virus was already flowing in his body by now, killing him from the inside out. SPAWN remained in the position he was in, trembling and shaking in demise.
I chuckled before getting up again, staggering towards the door. "C'mon, Louisiana... let's get out of here." The door slid shut behind us as we were transported back to the living room, where we then walked out together.
As family.

"Avrilon, are you going to be OK?" Louisiana asked, shutting the door to my bedroom. I wrestled through my dresser and pulled out two pills, which I immediately swallowed. I laid on my bed and sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
"Y'know, being impaled through the stomach ain't all that bad. Good thing we're in the future, with regeneration pills and all." I sat up to look at the young girl. She was so pretty, yet so useful. She reminded me a lot of Mark.
Which was always a good thing.
I looked up to see my father standing in the doorway. His tear-filled eyes propelled me towards him into a hug.
"Did you have fun with your friends?" He said. My eyes widened, as he had actually believed my excuse.
"Uh, dad..."
"I know. I'm just glad you're safe." I smiled behind his back.
"Are you OK?"
"Yea, I'm fine." He let go of me and glanced at Louisiana.
"So the girl is..."
"Mark's daughter, apparently. Did you know about her?"
"No! He was so busy, we never talked that much. We probably should have though, especially with the whole 'stepfather leaving' thing..." I nodded and looked to the side, sitting back down on my bed.
"You destroyed the thing that blew up the other Alversia ship, right?" I grinned and nodded once more.
"Yup, it should be gone now. You can leave now, Dad. And thank you." Avrilon's father smiled as he quickly exited the room. I noticed as Louisiana was staring at my pocket.
"Why is something blinking in your pocket?" she asked curiously as I pulled out the cube.
"YOUCH!" I yelled as the object fell out of my scolding hot hand. The cube illuminated to show Mark once more. He floated over to Louisiana and blinked, shifting over at me.
"You... you actually did it. I can't believe it. Avrilon... I can't thank you enough... I'm so glad to see my only offspring alive..."
Louisiana gaped at her father's sudden appearance. She ran over and hugged him from behind, tears streaming down her face.
"Daddy..." was the only word that became audible in that room. I beamed at their relationship of father and daughter.
Because I knew it was the most genuine one in the world.
