I yawn as I wake up, feeling arms around my waist. I rub my eyes, glancing back seeing Liam. He smiles “Hi,” I yawn and turn back, “Hey,” I say softly. I hear him chuckle and he puts his head against my back. I feel his breath against my skin, making my eyebrows knit together, “I’m not wearing clothes, am I?”
Liam hums “Last time I checked, no,” I nod slightly, “You’re not wearing any either, are you,” I say as I feel his chest against me.
“Nope,” he pops the P. I nod lightly, “Okay then,” I say softly as I recall last night's events. (Sports!)
“You alright?” I nod and look back at him, “Yup,” he chuckles and kisses me softly. I kiss him back, his arms tighten “That was wonderful,” he says softly. I laugh lightly as a turn back, humming.
“I can’t believe your voice could go that high,” he snickers. I put my face in my hands, “That’s embarrassing,” he chuckles and thumbs my stomach. I shudder slightly at the touch. He kisses my shoulder, “I might order donuts,” I nod slightly, “Okay,”
“I don’t wanna get up,” he whines. I chuckle a little bit, “You sound like me,” he hums “I wanna stay like this, have Jude take Jake for the day,”
“I don’t know, it’s your call,” I say softly. He groans and wraps a leg over mine. I chuckle lightly, “Are you alright?”
“No,” I look back at him, “And why’s that?” he huffs and looks at me “I wanna stay like this but I know we can’t,” I give a small laugh and peck his lips, “Don’t be sad,” he nods and sits up. I see a hickey on his collarbone as he runs a hand through his hair. I laugh lightly as I sit up too, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“What ya’ laugh for? You have them too, but I put most of them somewhere where people can't see them,” I feel my face heat up a little, not looking back at him. I feel him put a hand on my hips “Want me to show you?” he whispers in my ear. I feel my face heat up, “L-Liam,” his other hand slides to my thigh. I shudder at the touch, my face going red.
His hand slides in my lap and taps “One,” his hand slides to the inside of my leg and taps “Two,” I put a hand on my cheek as he counts the hickies, ending up at three so far. His other hand goes onto my leg, “Four,” his hand slides to my ear “Five,” I can’t believe he gave me so many. This is embarrassing at this point. He chuckles “Trust me, you gave me three. I had to even the playin’ odds,”
“By giving me five? I don’t even know if that’s all of them; three and five are not even,” he raises an eyebrow, “want to even them then?” I give him a surprised look before I shake my head, “It’s too early,” he smiles “Mmm, next time then,” I sigh and look back down. I pause before I look back, “You did only leave five hickies right?” I ask.
“Of course,” he kisses my cheek and gets up. I hope that’s true. I sigh and get up, scratching my head.
Liam chuckles as he puts on a shirt and black jeans that were ripped. I put on some shorts and a white T-shirt, “You have anything for me so I can take a shower?”
“Maybe,” I look at him blankly, “And I’ll ask again, do you have anything so I can take a shower?”
He sighs “Ja,” I smile, “Thank you,” he nods “in the drawer is a towel and stuff,”
“Do you have clothes I can wear? I don’t think wearing the same clothing for two days is the best thing to do,” he chuckles “look in the closet and chest,” he waves, “I’m ordering donuts now,” I chuckle and nod, “Got it,” He leaves and I spend the rest of the time to myself, taking a shower and getting dressed in whatever I could find in his room. I ended up with a sweater and black pants. I head downstairs, seeing Liam and Jake on the couch. Jake looks up at me with a smile on his face, “We’re getting donuts!” I smile as he hurries over to me, making me scoop him up in my arms as he makes it over, “Are we now? That sounds great,” I smile as I walk back over towards the couch. Jake plays with my hair, “It's so soft,” He says quietly and he continues to touch it. I chuckle a little as I sit down on the couch with Jake, touch a strand myself. It's getting really long, it'll surpass ear length sooner or later.
“I can cut it for you,” Liam says as he reads a book, his earpiece in his ear and his glasses. I tuck some hair behind my ear, “Really?” he nods “Yeah, I do Jakes and mine when we need them,” I laugh lightly, “Well, aren’t you a jack of all trades,” he raises an eyebrow and looks at me. He looks at me up and down, smiling slowly.
“Nice pick,” I smile, “Thanks,”
“Nice you can rock my clothes, better than me,” I laugh lightly, “I just have a knack for sweaters,” he chuckles “You look comfortable and warm,”
“That’s because I am,” Jake giggles as I rock us back and forth as I talk to Liam. Liam tickles Jake under his chin “What are ya’ laughin’ for?” Jake laughs more, “No reason!” Liam chuckles and kisses his nose. Jake giggles as he wipes his nose.
“I gotta get you to school again,” Liam sighs softly. Jake shakes his head, “But school’s boring, and we have to wear those uniforms this time,” Jake complains and puts his head in my chest.
“I’m sorry man, but we already switched schools and everythin’. Plus the kids here shouldn’t be mean,” He switched schools? I rub the back of Jake's head as he mumbles into my shirt. Liam sighs and shakes his head, “I’m sorry, you nearly broke down every day because of them. People should behave their children better,” So he left due to bullying. I rock Jake lightly as I continue to rub his head. Jake pulls his head back a little to talk, “I know… I just really don’t want to go,” He says quietly, holding onto my sweater.
Liam looks down and frowns “I know,” I look at Liam as I continue to rock Jake, they must have gone through a lot. Liam yawns softly and goes back to his book. Jake sighs as he begins to calm down. After a little while he looks up at me, “I’m hungry,” I laugh lightly, still rubbing the back of his head. Liam gets up as someone knocked on the door. Liam opens the door and the smell of fresh donuts wafts in the house. Me and Jake both hum at the smell, making us laugh. Thanks, at least my grade is still good though
“Smells really good, doesn’t it?” I look down at him as he nods. Liam comes back and puts the donuts on the table. Jake gets off of me, opening the box, “Ooo,”
“Get whatever,” Jake nods as he picks one up, sitting back down on the couch, taking a bite. Liam rubs his temples and goes to the kitchen, muttering something. I rub Jake's head, “Don't eat them all,” I get up and head to the kitchen.
Liam stands in the kitchen and inhales slowly.
“You alright?” I question. He blinks hard “Yep,” his words clipped. I give him a look, “Liam,” he looks at me and frowns, “Sorry it’s just…..flashbacks and I have a headache,” I put my hand on his cheek and thumb it, “What goes on in that head of yours,”
“Things that will shock you,” his whispers as he looks away.
“Liam, please tell me what’s going on in your head,” I say softly as I continue to caress his cheek. He presses his lips together “I was in the car when my sister died,” I move the hair from his eyes as I listen.
“His father left unharmed and still drank, Jake was….two….he cried for her until I got him. I got broken ribs and a dislocated arm. Jake was unharmed,” I nod slightly, he’s been through so much.
“My parents wanted to come home but their plane crashed, the call…..it took fifteen days until they found the bodies. They were burnt to death on the plane,”
“Liam,” I say softly as I pull him into a hug. He buries his face in my neck “Can you do somethin’ for me?” I hum, “What is it?”
“Can you take care of Jake on Saturday?” I nod, “Yeah, I can; why?” he sighs softly, “Work,”
“I understand, yes I can take care of Jake,” I say lightly. He nods and pulls back “Let’s hope he didn’t eat all of them,” I laugh, giving him a smile, “Let’s hope,” he smiles softly and goes to the living room, me following behind him.
Jake had sprinkles on his face and his face red, Liam groaned “Oh no,” I laugh lightly and shake my head, going back into the kitchen to get napkins. I come back, “I thought I said not to eat them all,” I chuckle as I start to wipe the mess he made on his face.
“I didn’t!” he starts to jump, Liam sighs deeply “Sugar rush,” I shake my head as I finish cleaning his face, “How many did you eat?”
“Four!” Why did he eat so many? I crumble the napkins in my hand and shake my head as I stand up, “Don’t those come in batches of six?” I question as I look back at Liam.
“Yeah, but I got two boxes,” Nonetheless, he did still eat a lot of sugar.
“Jake, man, go take a shower,” Jake nods, getting off the couch, “Okay!” He chirps. Is he going to crash later? I look at Jake as he rushes to the stairs. Yeah, he’s going to crash sooner or later.
“What? What’s the look for?” I look back at Liam, “Nothing,” I chirp and smile. He chuckles and pulls me to him, kissing my nose, “You sure?” I laugh lightly, “Yeah,” he puts his hands on my waist, a playful look in his eyes. He tilts his head “Are you by chance….” I give him a confused look as I smile at him, wondering what he’s doing.
“Ticklish?”
“Kind of?” he raises an eyebrow “Kind of?”
“I haven’t been tickled in years,” he hums, “Wanna see if you still are?” I feel like no matter what I answer, he’s going to do it anyway, “No…?” he tilts his head “No? Aw, you’re no fun,” I look away as he pouts, “Fine, let’s see if I still am,” I sigh. He perks up but then his eyebrows knit together “Wait….I hear somethin’” I look at him, “What is it?”
He shakes his head slowly and starts to say something when we hear glass being smashed “Blasted!” Was that a window? Liam strides to the door and opens it, the sound of laughing following. I feel panic rush through me as I scramble to the stairs, running up, “Jake!” I can’t think, I can’t think.
I see Jake walk out of bathroom, “yeah Owey?” I fall to my knees as I hug him, my heart racing.
“What’s wrong?” I shake my head as I hold him, “Nothing, I… I just got a little scared,” he pats my head “why?”
“I was just a little startled, I needed to make sure you were alright,” he nods and the sound of shouting makes him jump. I stand up, him in my arms as I rub the back of his head, trying to calm him, “It’s alright, it’s alright,” I say softly, trying to distract him from the sounds. The sound of more glass and a yelp come from downstairs. I head over to Jake’s room setting him down, “Lock your door okay? Do not open it until you hear me say it’s alright; got it?” I move the hair from his face as I talk.
He nods, “Got it,” I move his bangs upwards, kissing his forehead, “Thank you,” I stand up and head for the stairs, going down. I make it to the door, looking out. I see a guy with black hair, slightly shorter than Liam. They were face-to-face, Liam was saying something to him. I don’t move from where I’m at, looking at them.
The guy pushes Liam back and lungs for him. Liam turns and twists his arm backward, making him cry out. I get a clear look at the guy, not seeing many features match Jake. He said something, making Liam kick the back of his knee, making him kneel. He looks so different. The guy yelps as he nods rapidly. What are they talking about? I keep at the door, watching them.
Liam lets him go, making him fall forward.
“What the hell are you?!” He yells as he gets to his feet and runs/stumbles to a dark blue rusted car. Liam crosses his arms over his chest, a glare following the guy. A hint of red by his stomach and arm. I feel myself walking out to Liam as I stay focused on the red parts. I make it to Liam, moving his arm and lifting his shirt, seeing a cut. I move to his arm, a smaller one along the top of his arm.
“I’m fine,” I look at him, “You’re going to treat and clean them, aren’t you?”
“No,” I take him by his wrist, pulling him to the house, “And why are you not going to treat them?” I question him.
“They aren’t serious,”
“Then please fill my whimsical need, and have them cleaned,” I sigh and look back at him, “Please?” he looks at me, “Why don’t you do them?”
“I will; if it means they’re going to be treated,” he sighs “Fine,”
“Can you get me some rubbing alcohol, cotton balls or toilet paper, and something to put over your cuts,” I ask.
“In the bathroom, under the sink,” I nod, “Hang tight in your office, I’ll get all of the things and I need to get Jake out of his room,” he nods as he goes upstairs. I go up after him, walking towards Jake’s room first. I knock on the door lightly, “It’s Owen, it’s alright now,” the door unlocks and Jake pops his head in the doorway. I smile at him softly, “Hey there buddy,”
“Hi,”
“You alright?” I question. He nods, “yep!” I laugh lightly, “That’s great,” he smiles and sits on his bed; reading. I smile and leave his room, going over to the bathroom. I get everything that I need and go to Liam’s office, knocking on the door. I hear rustling and something close, “Open,” Wonder what that was. I open the door, Liam was sitting at his desk with his arms crossed. I walk over, setting the items on the desk.
“You don’t have to knock all the time,”
“Sorry, it’s a habit of mine,”
“I’ll break that habit,” he said something else but I didn’t hear it. I hum, “What?” he looks away, lips pressed together.
“What was it?” I question, looking at him. He stays silent and shrugs. I raise an eyebrow, “Okay then,” I guess he’s going to break my habit though. He sniffs “Can we just get this over with?” I sigh and nod, “Remove your shirt so I can get to it,” I say as I pour some of the alcohol on a cotton ball. He takes off his shirt with a soft grunt. I look at the cut and hold his side lightly, pressing the cotton ball to his cut. He squirms slightly and cringes. I look up at him, “Sorry,” he shakes his head and puts a hand on the side of my thigh. I don’t question it as I go back to the cut, applying it to the cut more.
He hisses softly. I say a quiet ‘sorry’ as I continue, trying to not spend too much time on this cut. The more I stop the longer this is going to take. He sighs as his hand tightens on my thigh. I jump a little as he does that, putting my hand over his. He chuckles slightly.
“Don’t laugh,” I smile, looking at him. He smiles and starts to chuckle again “Why not?”
“Because I asked? I don’t know,” I laugh lightly. He puts his other hand on my other leg “You actually said it as a statement, not a question,”
“Well then I’m asking, please don’t laugh,” I chuckle. He nods as he stares off. I chuckle lightly as he doesn’t move his hand off my leg. I move to his arm, because I can’t really get the bandages anyway. His breathing starts to quicken slowly and his cringes.
“I’m almost done,” I say softly as I continue to apply it.
He doesn’t answer as he looks around. I let out a sigh as I stand straight, reaching for the bandages. He grabs my hand roughly and inhales sharply. I look at him confused, “What is it?” he looks at me, a look of terror on his face.
