I was utterly confused about what was happening but they just went from going to say hi to each other to frowning, and this dark vibe seemed to be radiating off of them. I had to fix this fast. I was trying to think so hard of how to ease the tension I kept blanking and forgetting to introduce them, assuming they hadn't met before.
"Oh... yeah Jace this is Alec, we went to Uni together," I quickly introduced them to try to pry away the odd tension, "and Alec this is Jace, we... well he is responsible for me still being here," I added. They started to fidget but they didn't shake hands. I looked at them waiting to see if they would but they didn't. "Now shake hands and say 'hi, nice to meet you'," I directed them. "Or not if you guys already know each other," I said. I thought about my options so that they wouldn't kill each other. A food tray passed by and I decided I'd go help myself. "Nevermind, I'm going to get an appetizer while you guys figure this out," I said about to walk away. They listened to me and shook hands but I could feel this odd vibe they had around them.
"I'm sorry, you just reminded me of something unpleasant that happened in my past..." Jace quickly said, with an outstretched hand he extended to Alec he added "it is nice to meet you," and smiled. Alec smiled back and shook his hand.
"It is nice to meet you. I didn't mean to frown but you reminded me of someone too, it was an awful person, so it isn't your fault, I too am sorry about this. Let us enjoy this exquisite event," he apologized and beamed his usual happy self. "You look very beautiful Mia," he added.
"You really do," Jace added.
"Thank you, you guys are odd, you should be good friends," I teased knowing an awkward beginning could be a beautiful friendship. I stayed and ignored the food that I was going to use as a reason to give them some space to be odd by themselves.
