Slamming his fist down on the table, glaring at the younger man across from him. Standing now and leaning over the table, he wanted nothing more than to wrap his hands around the other man’s throat and throttle him before beating sense into him.
“We have to wait for the full moon,” he growled out between his teeth, steel eyes narrowing on the blonde.
“Why? I don’t want to stick around for another day let alone fourteen! Why did we even grab her now?” this was said as the younger man stood. Shoving his chair back at the same time, meeting his older cousin eye to eye.
“What part of this plan were you not listening to in the beginning!?” eyes flashing angrily as he looked around at the other two in the room, looking for some help. His brother watched on with a blank expression but the other looked quite amused. “Will you just explain it to him? He’s your damn brother, get him out of my face before I break his nose.” pushing away from the table and turning his back. His blood was heated and his hands were clenching into fists.,
“Ian, calm down,” laughed the identical amused twin, looking between the two men and shaking his head slowly “Look, Alex, you know we had to snatch her when we had the chance, we’ve been waiting for months and she’s never been alone like she was last night. It was now or who knows when.” Alex turned his baby blues on his brother, they were angry at first but softened, their older cousin Ian always seemed to rile him.
“Was that so hard to explain? I just think now was not the right time, we have two and a half weeks before the full moon, so we have to hold her here for all that time?” looking between the other three, “We have a higher chance of things going wrong!”
“Nothing is going to go wrong, we have no connection to the girl, no one would even look at us.” Damian countered, trying to calm his brother’s anxiety, it was a risk to have taken her so far from the full moon but they didn’t have a choice. What if they had never had another chance? All summer she had been home with her mother or with the blonde girl named Cassidy.
“So what now? Keep her in the fucking basement for the next two weeks?” Alex threw up his hands in frustration. The words spoken causing Ian to spin back around and step back toward the table. This time it looked like he was going to straggle his younger cousin. The oldest of the four, a raven-haired man, his eyes as black as the mess of hair on his head, stood up suddenly, making the other three-stop.
“Enough!” he snarled, placing his hands on the table and leaning forward, levelling each of them with an authoritative stare. “Alex, you will continue to attend the school, keeping an eye on her friends and keeping your ears open. Is that understood?’
“Yes, Mathew.” the young man seemed to have calmed, pulling his chair back and sitting down. Ian had stopped and was now looking at his older brother, waiting for him to continue.
“Have you befriended the best friend, yet?” the older asked softly.
“I don’t think friends is what she’s looking for,” Alex muttered shaking his head “I’ve managed to befriend the ex-boyfriend though,” he said as a kind of afterthought.
“Good, but I don’t care if she wants to be friends or not, you need to get close to her, she might be able to warn you if things take a turn before we can get out of here.’
“Okay, I get it.” the young man slouched in his chair and scowled at his twin brother as he chuckled.
“Ian, you keep watch on the house, but not too conspicuously, the mom would have called the police about the disappearance.”
“I get it, trim the neighbour's hedges and be a good gardener, and don’t get too close,” Ian said dryly, of all the things he had to do, it was taken care of plants. He wasn’t one for the green thumb and was surprised the damn things were still alive.
“And what should I do?” laughed Damian, knowing full well what his job was, and his feigned ignorance didn’t fool his older cousin for a moment. Mathew scowled at him before he answered,
“You will be gathering the last of all we need to leave this place when the time comes. And I will be here, keeping her safe. We all know what we have to do, we only have a few weeks to go and we’ll be gone, and none of this will matter anymore. Are we clear now?” this was aimed at the two cousins who seemed to always be fighting about something, their personalities just seemed to clash at all times.
“Understood.” was the unison response from them all, and finally they would all sit down at the table. They had been about to eat their evening meal before the argument had broken out in the first place. Even though Mathew had settled the argument there was still a feeling of unease among them. Two weeks was a long time and anything could happen, Alex was right about that. They each worried about being able to get everything ready and to transfer the girl without issues when the time came.
They had taken quite a risk in grabbing her this early. They hadn’t had a choice, the opening only came once a month and this girl was hard to get alone. A frown lay on each male brow as if all their thoughts were running along the same path. Worrying over every step as if the next would be the one to take down the entire plan, they had to do this and quickly or they wouldn’t get another chance. The longer they held the girl the higher the chances would be of being discovered. Failure was not an option.
