“Hello Sir, I know this must be difficult for you to finally open up after what happened to you so many years.”
“Yes. After many years it was difficult to agree to have this interview since I have to go back to my dark past. Especially just think about him.”
“I understand well if you don't mind telling me from the beginning. How all of this happened to the very end of how you escaped.”
Then an empty deathly silence of reply, a small sigh escaping from the person's lips, a small shift of movement, slowly hasting nod of agreement. Dull pained eyes. “It all began around twenty years ago”
I was an exchange Sophomore student at the time. Going to a different country. Other barely able to speak my language, still surprised. I was able to learn their native tongue. Then once I was used to the new environment. My life was normal; spending sleepless nights. Cramming as much information as I could from the thick books needed for my classes. Spending hours of fun, with friends when I didn't have to do any of the hell that many college students had. Having to go to a few parties and school events. Really my life was normal like any other still I wondered how I ever got his attention.
It was like any other night, the streets busy with small food stalls, vendors for selling toys and jewelry. People filling the sidewalks and cars passing busy. I just left from eating out with my friends, I was drained of any more energy I had left. My uniform was loose since I was never used to it, so leaving it this way I preferred it. Thankfully to me, the teachers didn’t care.
Still, I had bought a few things for when I go back, I had two more years before this exchange program ended. I really didn't expect me to spend my high school years in a different country away from my home, family, and friends. Still, I took advantage of this to learn many new things like cooking for myself. The family I was with during the program. They were always busy, so I was pretty much alone and needed to learn how to cook or I would spend all of my money on buying take out food.
I was walking back to the house, maybe when I was ten or twenty minutes away, that's when I felt I had eyes burning holes on my back. I slowly turned around and I saw someone a few feet away from me on their phone. I shrugged it off thinking that he was just going in the same direction as me. I turned back and continued walking, still the odd thing I noticed that he was so quiet if it wasn't for the small amount of gravel that the sidewalk had, I might have never noticed him. I was so close to the house now, I reached my hand down to my side pocket to get my keys.
Then, I heard footsteps as if they were running, then the next thing I was tackled to the ground. It all happened so fast I barely had time to react to it. A cloth covered my mouth, the smell was so strong, took me a while to figure it out it was anesthesia. I tried screaming and punching him, groaning in pain when I hit him hard enough to their rib cage. I agitated them enough, he started punching me in my stomach multiple times, much harder than when I struck at him.
He continued for I don't know how long, to me in honest felt like an eternity. I wasn't, in all honesty, sure if I either passed out from the pain or the anesthesia. My vision was getting blurry, I felt so much pain that it was excruciating. They soon stooped and laughed. No is more like he crackled like a Hyena. That was engraved into my mind before I passed out. He was saying words but I couldn't hear them for I was losing my consciousness.
But his smile. I just knew that moment that his smile would never leave my mind. Haunting me so many years, reliving that nightmare night, each time I close my eyes. Those blood red eyes and white hair. As if a demon was there instead of a person.
