Eric and I wandered around the Guildhall getting familiar with everything. We took a look to see if there were any other reputable quests that we would be able to complete while we were out in the Wild, there was another herb one but I didn’t recognize the herb name. Grabbing the card, deciding to visit a herbalist tomorrow when we were on the way to the church. We would have three herb quests and three hunt quests. Eric could grab the herbalist skill if he wanted it too and he could gather herbs while I was training if he wanted.
The night passed and we took dinner at a table when this woman approached. She was obviously a magic caster, based on her robes. She wore a dim yellow robe, with a golden corded belt. Her hair was about as light of a blond as it could get, yet her eyes were emeralds. They entranced me before I shook myself slightly. She was older than either of us and fairly developed.
“You are new faces,” she said sitting.
Eric blushed and looked at his plate. I had to agree this woman was beautiful.
“We just got into the city today, we became adventurers in a small town a bit from here,” I said softly.
“And yet you already have enough points to take for the advancement exam. And neither of you had classes this morning.” She said.
I glanced at her, trying to figure out how she knew this.
“Forgive me, I am Ostena, level 85 High Mage. I am also the Adventure Guild master for this city. I try to be up to date on everything that happens in my city. Such as did you know you were followed today?” She asked.
“I had a feeling when we were heading back here. But I didn’t see anyone. How did you know?”
“I was watching through my Clairvoyance orb. They were planning all sorts of naughty things, like selling my adventures on the slave market and that just won't due.” She said chipperly.
“Thank you for letting us know we will be careful,” I said bowing slightly to her.
“I have already apprehended them, my punishment squad is informing them that they were wrong. When you leave the city or if someone powerful targets you there is little I can do other than lodge a formal complaint with the king but with riff-raff like this its nothing. Would you two like to take the advancement exam tomorrow?” She asked smiling.
“We were thinking about taking it when we come back to town, we just unlocked our classes, so we still have much training to do before we would be ready to test our skills in a real battle,” I said softly.
“Wise, and polite unusual for an elf,” Ostena said resting her chin on her hand.
“What?” I asked, even Eric said surprised.
“You think, I a level 85 High Mage would be fooled by your little mimic skill,” the air around us shimmered, “Arcane Elf Alex, its weird an Arcane Elf with a human name.” My blood chilled. “Don’t worry, Alex. I’m not an enemy. When I was a little girl I listened to the stories about the Creation like everyone else in the capital. Learning about a race of Elves born from the Arcane energies of the world. I was fascinated, for years I thought the race was extinct or maybe a fairy tale. Until I came to an Elf village that was hidden deep in the woods, and there was an Arcane elf there. Imagine my surprise.”
She started, “Sorry, I got off topic, I don’t mean you any harm, though I am wondering why you are here in town, this is not a safe place for anyone not human. Your Catkin Eric blends in enough, but your human form is almost too perfect.”
“Thank you for telling me,” I said nodding.
“You’re welcome little Elf, I’ve taken enough of your time today,” she said standing.
We Left the guild hall and went back to our room. Ostena had been a surprise. It did not change too much, but it did require me to think about what we would be doing. Who knows what would have happened has she not intervene. Though she even said there were things even she couldn’t protect us from.
Eric laid to sleep and Alic stood watch for us. I went to the bathroom and tried to adjust my appearance to give my human illusion some flaws, to make it look more real.
After an hour, I went and sat in my bed to focus on meditation. As the night passed and dawn rose, my eyes opened. Meditation was so relaxing it was almost as good as sleep. I would probably have to take a nap later today.
Eric woke up and we got ready before heading out to visit the temple. On the way, we ran into an herbalist shop. It was a Svol plant which was used in the creation of Stamina potions. Which I did buy the recipe for.
We entered the temple and a sense of peace filled me. The priest was giving a sermon on the goddess, Sitting down, Eric and I listened to what the priest had to say. He was very charismatic, as he talked about the goddess. Even Alic seemed impressed. When the sermon was done, we headed up to get a blessing. As the priest laid his hand on my I felt a warm energy wash over my body.
“My champion,” a voice said. Opening my eyes I beheld the most beautiful person I had ever seen. The world around us was white.
“Our time is limited, I have seen your fight against the slavers. You are correct in assuming that a Soul crystal would have dropped from the Minor Demon. I will teach you the spell to summon Soul Crystals, no one must know you have it. Except for people that you trust, but be warry greed can turn even the staunchest of friends. Eric is on the right track to earn Immortality. If he becomes an Elite before the passing of a years time I will grant him Immortality.”
“What happens If I use the soul crystal on a person and they are resurrected?”I asked.
“Nothing would happen to them, you would still get a crystallization of their experience.”
“Okay, How can I help you, I’m guessing that is the reason you called me here,” I said smiling.
“That is correct, As you have guessed there is a reason for you to be here in the in-between realm. This is the only place where I can talk to you without others knowing. Demons are invading Etis. The Demon God has found a way to get demons into my world. I need you to help protect us. This is a relatively safe area, but some are not safe at all. You must gain levels quickly. That is the only reason I am bequeathing this spell to you. You need a team to fight with you. You still need a tank, Warrior and a Healer.”
“When I finish can I return home, and be with my brother again?”
“I am sorry, but that is impossible, earth’s magic core was destroyed and can no longer support a magical being. Your brother is doing well though. He misses you, but I am keeping an eye on him, I will try to grab his soul when he dies so he can be reborn here. His would still be a different case than yours though. Every day the demons become more and more stronger. I have set up a connection to Alic, after having made contact with you. I will be able to talk to you through him after this. Though only when you are alone. There will be quests that I have to give you.”
“I will do what I can to rid Etis of Demons,” I said bowing.
“Go and live well, and become stronger my champion.”
The goddess leaned forward and kissed my forehead, causing me to blink and when I opened my eyes. I was back in the temple. Nodding I turned to walk away.
“You were just filled with Holy energy, what happened?” The priest asked.
“I received a blessing from the goddess,” I said smiling. Eric got his blessing and when he opened his eyes I knew he had seen the goddess.
We went back to our room. Thankfully we were not interrupted.
“Did you see the Goddess?” Eric asked.
“I did, did you as well?”
“Yes. She told me to keep doing what I’m doing and I will be granted Immortality. But I have to be a good teammate for you.”
“Yes, she says if you become an Elite warrior in a year she will grant Immortality.”
“That is impossible. It's rare to find something that a god or goddess hates like demons.”
“Apparently Demons have infiltrated this world. We only have to find 49 more minor demons and we will gain the favor of the goddess. It shouldn’t be too hard. She also taught me a spell to help us gain more power quicker.” I realized I haven't even looked at the skill yet.

It wasn't as good as the one the goddess use, but it would be much more frequent. I told Eric and told him that it was a secret, he agreed that it was a dangerous spell to have at our level.
We decided to leave town the next day and to head into the wilderness a ways from the capital so we could farm experience and quest points.
We would come back to town when we had reached level 40. Then we would be much better equipped to defend ourselves. Most people in this town were level 30-40, with officials being around level 80. What we needed that would make our trip even better was a healer.
The night passed and we went to the guild hall, there were no new quests we saw the guild master, but she was busy so we left without talking to her.
We left the city and headed towards the cave where he had help up before heading to the city. It was still empty. We haven't even been in the cave for an hour before someone entered.
“You got us in trouble when we were still in town.”
I turned to see a man standing in the doorway. He had the title of Slaver equipped. You two just got your classes so it should be easy for me to get you.
I checked his level he was only level 15. I didn't cast Soul Crystallize on him because he was probably already going to give us a soul crystal.
Sadly he didn’t put up much of a fight, I used Icy wind he tripped and Eric beheaded him. He was too far beneath our levels to cause us problems.
Eric stripped him of all his items. And we watched as he turned into a soul crystal. He did have 20 gold on him. We just had to hop on one else knew where he had gone. His items were lacking, but they could be sold.
