The Incidental Prince

Chapter 4: A Girl Named Mika

Chapter 4: A Girl Named Mika

Apr 04, 2019

Kuro had started to really think about how he was treated at the castle.

Thinking that this place has so much freedom, so much kindness that no one at the Midnight castle could ever have.

But little did he know it was because of him taking things for granted did it end up this way.

All the servants gave up trying and their frustrations just let them stop doing their best.

Disappointment can go a long ways in changing ones mind.

Kuro found himself wandering the village, just like any village near the city sanctioned magic was only permitted in the capital city by royal officials.

Kuro thought about princess Mina Roselie of the Roselian Kingdom that had been decided on marriage from the moment he was born.

IT all seemed like a dream to him now, something that he had all made up.

He looked at his face in the reflection in the water as he strolled along the stream.

A soft, kind face that was foreign to him, a braid that encircled his head, it was a nice touch he thought.

Maybe in another lifetime Shiro could've been friends with Kuro he also had thought.

He splashed at the water with his hands but the image settled once more into a hazy reflection of what he used to look like it was there for a minute like black ink spilled onto a page.

Blotting out some of the white in his hair then fading back to pure white.

As Kuro ventured along the stream, he saw a girl most likely from the village washing some clothes in the water nearby.

Rather than ignoring her, he thought the courage to stir up a conversation, hoping he might know who he is as everyone else in the village did.

She turned to look his way, "Oh Shiro, hey" She waved to him as she met his glance.

Since he didn't know her name yet he thought he'd trick her into telling him what her name was.

"Hey" Kuro waved back, "Whose clothes are you washing?" He asked.

"My little brother's, my mother's and my father's clothes" Am I missing someone..."Oh and my own clothes as well"

Kuro wanted to say something about how she would look better in clothes from the capital but instead he commented on the clothing, "I never seen clothes like this before" Said Kuro.

"That's because my grandma taught my mother to make clothes, you know that" She said.

He remembered he had ot act like Shiro, so he kept saying to himself just that, act like Shiro would act, kind, considerate and friendly.

"You shouldn't have to wash clothes like this" Said Kuro.

"It's alright, I'm used to doing everyone's laundry by now" She said with a diluted smile.

Someone actually smiled at me he thought.

"Is something wrong, Shiro?" She asked him as he stared at her.

"OH it's nothing..." He said.

"Just never thought I'd feel so happy" He said.

"It's so calm living here, never having to worry about anything don't you think?" He said staring off into the brilliant, blue sky.

"Many people take things for granted, but I've learned that you need to give everyone a chance in life she said"

"Mika, are you done with the laundry, dear?" Her mother called out to her.

She took one quick look at Shiro, and then started to sprint and then waved back, see you later, Shiro" She said.

So her name is Mika, he thought.

What a pretty name for a girl.

She had long blonde hair, that sparkled to the sun, cyan blue eyes and a headband in her hair that stuck out with two ribbons at the top of it, Kuro thought why couldn't he had been marrying a girl like this instead of a snobby rich girl.

The Roselians were facing a troubling time, and the relationship between the prince and the princess of both the Kingdom of Shadow and the Kingdom of Roselia would thought to stabilize and bring peace to Roselia.

Kuro went back to the place he now could call home, and made himself comfortable finding his room to be upstairs next to his brothers study.

Kuro felt curious and decided to read through his books upon books journals that he kept, some were doting on magical practice and others were just about life in the Candy Kingdom.

He thought he would read some of it and study at least a little to gain some knowledge of exactly who this boy named Shiro is.
