Having a job as a barista at a coffee shop named Extra Caffeine you don't get much excitement at work. Or any excitement really. It was another day of making coffee drinks. We served other things as well like sandwiches, desserts, tea, so on and so forth but the main thing is coffee. It was the middle of a week day so most people are at work or school. Extra Caffeine was one of those cozy ,I need to work all night, hangouts anyway. There's a coffee bar against the wall with comfy bar stools circling it. With tables randomly placed around the place furnished with cushioned leather chairs. Couches where also pushed up against the walls for people who need to be here so long they can't sit in a chair the entire time. Built in plug-ins for chargers where by every seat and on every table. You pay ten dollars for an hour of plug in time. The place was vacant currently and I only had about 20 minutes before my shift ended.
I sat on the bar stool I pulled around the bar earlier today so I didn't have to stand all day if no one was here. I stood back up as soon the bell on the door rang signaling someone just walked in. When the customer got to the counter I just stood there staring like an idiot. The girl that stood in front of me was the most beautiful person I have ever seen. She was just a few inches taller than me. Which was not a bad thing. I'm lightly shorter then average. Her light dirty blond hair reached her shoulder blades. And her eyes were an amazing vibrant green. Paired with her pale skin made her eyes practically glowed. She was wearing a black tank top. Paired with light blue ripped jeans. Finished off with a leather jacket tied around her waist which showed off her hourglass figure. I mentally shook myself hoping I wasn't going to make a fool of myself and pulled on my best smile.
“Hi, welcome to Extra Caffeine. What would you like?” She didn't even look at the menu.
“Hi, i'd like an iced mocha. Please?” Her voice was like soft summer rain. How did a person like this even exist?
“Yes of course, coming right up.” I picked up a fresh coffee cup, “And your name is?” Since she was literally the only other person here I didn't need to ask for her name so I could label her cup. But I wanted to know her name. She smiled at me and for a minute I thought I would pass out from shock. Her smile is drop dead gorgeous. I pulled it back together determined not to make a fool out of myself.
“It’s Alina A-L-I-N-A” I wrote in on the cup.
“Thank you, i'll get started.” She paid for her drink and went to sit in the back. The second she was out of sight I pulled a piece of paper from my bag and wrote “I know you probably get this all the time and i'm probably have no chance of going out with you. But if you decide to give this mere mortal a chance here's my number. xxx-xxx-xxxx - sincerely your hopeful barista Donatella.” I was probably gonna get rejected on the spot.
She probably only likes guys. Before I could panic and back out I made her drink with care and added extra whip cream. I folded my note up and placed it next to the coffee on a tray. With a boost of courage I picked up the tray and walked to the back. Careful not to drop the tray on my way there. The second I got within ten feet of her my confidence died. I quickly set down her coffee and placed my note down next to it. I spun around so fast I didn't even see her expression. Clutching the tray to my chest like it was my lifeline I ran back to the front. I hide behind the bar like it was a military bunker. I was well into regretting my decision when my phone buzzed. I pulled it out and read the text. “Hi, this is Alina, the random person you just gave your number too. What time does your shift end? I'll wait for you and we can go get some ice cream. By the way, you make great coffee.”
