Hermione
Everyone was already on the train back to Hogwarts. Currently, it was Draco, Ginny, Harry, and I in a compartment. There weren't many "Eighth Years" on the train, and it looked like everyone else was very wary of going to Hogwarts due to everything that has happened over the years.
In all honesty, I don't blame them.
"Brings back memories, doesn't it?" Draco mumbled, however, it was loud enough for all of us to hear.
"Yeah. It does." Harry also mumbled. I sighed.
"I remember when I first met you, Harry. You and Ronald were stuffing yourselves with treats from the trolley." Harry chuckled.
"He tried using that stupid spell that George gave him, that was completely and utterly bogus." Harry and I laughed, Ginny joining is as she probably knew what spell we were talking about.
"What was the spell?" Draco chimed in.
"Something stupid, I'm trying to remember the words." Harry chuckled. I felt the light bulb go off and jumped.
"I remember! It was 'Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow.'" We all laughed at the stupid trick Fred and George pulled on Ron. They were the best at pranks.
"Oh, I see. Making fun of me now, are ya?" We were laughing so loud we didn't hear Ron open the door to the compartment. We all quieted down and sighed.
"We were reliving old memories, Ronald. We were talking about-" Ron glared at me and cut me off.
"Yeah, I know what you were talking about. You were making fun of me." I scoffed.
"Ronald, no we weren't. We were laughing at the spell George gave you before First Year." Harry chimed in, and I was grateful for it.
"Yeah right. How about we go over other ones? Like Hermione's old bushy hair and buck teeth? You were very funny looking back then." I felt my anger starting to boil.
"Now that, Ronald Weasley, is making fun of someone. You don't see me making fun of how much of a slob you are when you eat. Or how you broke your wand in Second Year because Dobby took over the flying car and made you look incredibly stupid." I was standing at this point and was beyond furious.
"You're such a know-it-all Hermione. Always bringing other people down."
"You started this, Ronald! You, you-" I couldn't come up with an insult to say to him, without using an old one from someone else.
"Awe, did I make the Mudblood speechless?" I gasped and took a step back. At this point, Draco had stood up and punched Ronald in the face. He threw Ronald up against the window outside the compartment, and everyone was watching the fight happen.
"Don't you EVER call Hermione a Mudblood again!" Draco threw another punch and Ron fell to the floor. Gasps were heard from all around the train, and you could start hearing the whispers.
"Coming from the guy who always called her that!" Ron got up and took out his wand.
"Coming from her supposed best friend!"
"Stu-"
"Petrificus Totalus!" Draco got his spell out first, and Ron fell to the floor. Draco sighed and entered the compartment again. I slumped down into the seat next to him and started to cry. I can't believe Ron would say such a thing.
"I'll make sure he never bothers you again. I promise Mione." Draco said and started to rub my back.
"Thank you." After a few short minutes, the spell had worn off on Ron, and he was beyond furious than before.
"You insufferable prat! I'll make sure you get what you deserve Malfoy." Ron slammed the door to the compartment and stormed off. I sighed and laid my head down on Draco's leg, and I felt him go stiff.
"Draco, chill out. She's just going take a nap to take her mind off of what just happened. Just go with it mate." Harry chuckled as Ginny laid down on him. I heard Draco sigh as he continued to rub my back. And just like that, I was out like a light.
---
"Psst, Hermione. Wake up. You need to get ready." I groaned and looked up. Draco was looking down at me, and I smiled.
"Are we there?"
"Almost. We'll be there in ten minutes. You should get ready now." I nodded and sat up on the seat. I stretched and grabbed my robes and went to the toilet to put them on. After five minutes, I saw the train station coming into view as I re-entered the compartment.
"You guys ready?" I asked as I entered. I started to grab my luggage before Draco helped me.
"Awe, thank you, Draco." I smiled, and he gave me one in return. I felt something flutter inside me when he smiled at me. I shook it off and walked with Harry, Ginny, and Draco out onto the platform. Immediately, several Gryffindors came up and surrounded us.
"Guys? What's the problem?" They glared at me before trying to get to Draco.
"You hexed Ron and punched him!" They pointed accusingly at Draco. He scoffed and grabbed my arm.
"Yeah, after he called Hermione here a Mudblood. But I'm sure he left that out. Have a nice feast gentleman." Draco started to walk me to the carriages. I saw the Thestrals and sighed, petting one of its faces. Draco looked taken aback by them.
"What the hell are those?" I sighed.
"They're Thestrals. You can only see them if you've seen death." We turned around and saw Luna coming up to us.
"Luna, how nice to see you again." We smiled at one another and sighed.
"Hey, looney." Draco and Luna shared a hug; I almost forgot that they were friends.
"Luna, we would offer you to ride with us, but there are only four seats on the carriage." I gave a sad smile.
"That's alright, I was planning on sitting next to Neville anyways." She smiled as Neville popped up behind her.
"Hey, Neville." He became very hesitant when he saw Draco.
"You beat up Ron?" Draco groaned and put his things inside the carriage.
"Only after he called Hermione a Mudblood." Ginny and Harry had already entered the carriage.
"He what?" Neville grew very angry. I sighed and gave both Neville and Luna a hug.
"It's fine. I'm going to try my best to stay away from him. It's nothing."
"Hermione, you don't deserve to be called that." Neville took a glance at Draco, which earned a sigh in return.
"I've already apologized to them. I tried doing the same to Weasel, but he tried to attack me." Luna and Neville looked shocked as I entered the carriage.
"Yeah, so we are all avoiding Ronald right now." I sighed as the Thestral began to move.
"See you guys in the great hall!" I called out as we rode towards the castle. Not too long after, the castle came into view, and we were nearing the entrance.
"I hope this year goes well."
---
The sorting hat had placed all the new First years into their houses, and Professor McGonagall clinked her glass.
"Silence!" Everyone had quieted down, and we waited for her speech.
"Welcome back everyone, and welcome to those who have just arrived. Now, there are some rules I would like to announce. The Forbidden Forest is forbidden to First Years, as is the Black Lake. If you are out of bed after curfew, you will lose house points and gain detention. That is, for anyone who is not a sixth year and above." She looks at the older students before continuing. "After dinner, you all will return to your dormitories, except for the Eighth years. I need to explain your rules and where you will be staying. Now, let the feast, begin." With that, you hear all the First Years becoming excited from the food appearing on the table. I sighed and grabbed food and put it on my plate. After about twenty minutes, the prefects start returning the houses to the common rooms. The rest of us had gathered at the front of the Great Hall and waited for Professor McGonagall to start talking.
"Alright, first of all, here are your schedules. Nothing too different from what you have had previously. Second of all, I would like to announce your rules:
Number One- You all do not have a curfew, do not go around wreaking havoc.
Number Two- We have established temporary dormitories inside certain towers for you all. You may choose up to two other people to room with, from any house, and they will be your roommates for the year. You will each have to come up with a password for your dormitory. However, only boys can room with boys, and vice versa for the girls.
Number Three- Others are permitted access to another groups dorm if they have the password. However, after Nine PM, a password will be set up to keep people out.
That is all. You are all excused and can pick your roommates then head to your dormitories." I smiled and went to walk over to Ginny when McGonagall stopped me.
"Except, for you Miss Granger, and you, Mister Malfoy." Draco and I looked at one another and walked towards Professor McGonagall.
"You two are head boy and head girl for your houses. Therefore, you both will be staying in the Head's dormitories." I smiled wide and glanced at Draco. He gave me a smile.
"Thank you, Professor. I appreciate this."
"You're welcome Miss Granger. Now, this is your password. I presume you will take good care of it." She handed it to me, and I nodded.
"Yes, Professor."
"Good. All of your belongings have already been taken to the Head Dormitory. Have a nice night you two." She walked to talk to the other groups that had formed. From what I saw, it was Ginny, Luna and, sadly Pansy. Harry, Neville, and sadly Ronald. Seamus, Dean, and some Hufflepuff. And Blaise, Theo, and another Slytherin. I sighed and started to walk with Draco to our dorm.
---
"Password?" An older man had asked us.
"Bertie Botts." I stated, and Draco chuckled.
"Bertie Botts? Really? That's our password?" He let out another laugh as we entered.
"We can always change it you know. They are temporary for a reason." I stated as I stopped and looked around. The couches were a somewhat dark grey, with a variety of white, grey, and patterned pillows. There was also a little nook by the window which I found perfect, and a fireplace right next to it. There were two round coffee tables, one being smaller than the other so it can fit underneath the larger one. In the corner, there was a lamp no a grey pedestal. There were also two square seats that were moveable. When we looked at the kitchen, there was a large island with bar stools as chairs, a gas stove, a microwave, and a coffee maker.
"Wow. This is great."
"It sure is." Draco walked over to a set of doors and opened one.
"Oh, I think this one is your room."
"What makes you say that?" I started to walk over when he opened the door all the way. All you see is red and yellow; also known as Gryffindor colors.
"Lucky guess." He was sarcastic about it, and I laughed. He opened up the other door, and all you saw was green, silver, and black.
"Ah, see that there? Those are good colors." He smirked and entered his room.
"What's wrong with yellow and red? They are just as good as this rubbish." I smirked, and he turned around to face me.
"Did you just insult my house colors, Granger?"
"Oh, back to the last name basis? And perhaps I did." He smirked and started to chase me.
"Eep!" I squealed as I ran away from Draco. He chased me all around the common room until he tackled me to the sofa.
"Draco!" I laughed as he started to tickle my sides.
"Ah! Stop!"
"Take it back!" I continued to laugh as he didn't stop.
"Alright! I take it back!" I gasped for air as he stopped tickling me. I stared up at him, still smiling. I felt something in my flutter, and I felt nothing but happiness. I wonder why. Draco was also smiling down at me, and I felt very content. I then realized that my legs were wrapped around his waist, and his arms were on either side of my face. I blushed red and unwrapped my legs. I laughed nervously, and he did the same and sat up while rubbing his neck.
"Well, I'm going to go to bed now Draco. Goodnight." I smiled at him and he returned one.
"Goodnight Hermione." Draco went into his room, and I sighed as I entered mine. I felt so safe with him. I honestly didn't know Draco could be that fun. I got changed into a t-shirt and shorts and laid in bed. I sighed and squealed quietly. I was just so damn happy.
Draco
I got changed into sweats. I laid down on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I chuckled and put my hands under my head. I closed my eyes, continuing to smile. I was just so damn happy.
