This day I experience many things for the first time, the first was being truly terrified. The second was seeing the only person in my desolate life, being truly terrified. The third was pain, real, hot, searing pain. The flame that the thug had true me into came from the burning of one the collapsed wooden beams from the house. It was so hot that the moment I hit that log, pieces of my skin that made contact were instantly melted and fused into that wood. The rest of my body was given a good roast.
I sat there being burned alive, I landed face down on the bean, my arms supporting were burned, as well as my chest, and the left side of my face. I felt as if the someone pulled a greatsword from the forge and slapped me with the broad side of it. Even with this pain that I could tell was hurting, it didn't hit me the same. People would generally flinch from being hurt, whether they were pricked, or touched something too hot, they jumped back, recoiled in pain. But even as a kid, pain just happened to be something that took place, so I never minded, I didn't like it, but I wasn't scared of it.
I felt this pain like anyone else, I probably wouldn't have tried to escape the flames. I would be scarred for life, I might light Kaya on fire, might light the ground on fire. Those were the thoughts that raced through my child mind. The only reason I pulled myself from the fire is because there was a reason that the bandit had tossed me aside like trash. He was after something else.
"Come now little one. If your'e gonna run away we can play a game" The thug told Kaya as he advanced on her. "The game starts by me grabbing a old of you hehehe!"
At the time it sounded like tag, but playing tag with a bad person wouldnt be very good. Kaya started screaming and fighting so that also reinforced the fact that there was something wrong. She grabbed a decent size rock and tossed it at him, he dodged quickly, and grabbed Kaya by her arm. He spun her around, throwing her face first into the ground, he started fumbling with his pants, laughing harder than before. I was angry and wanted him to stop, then I saw the rock Kaya had thrown had landed quite close to me.
Back to things I first experienced that morning, I assume to this day, that the beast was born at that very moment.
