We were seated at table behind the counter, the chair was a little small for me so I was paying attention to the conversation between Kaya and Mr.Halstrod to keep my mind off the discomfort.
"Mr.Halstrod, why are you so intent on buying the brothel from Lucielle?"
"Well, its not personal, its just about bringing profit ma'am."
Even with Kaya being a little bit pushy Halstrod was a polite man.
"Then what about all the letters and men you send to the brothel, if its not personal why are you trying to scare us off?"
"No miss Kaya, I never intended to be seen that way, im sorry for the misunderstanding. I merely wanted to let Lucielle know that im serious about buying."
"Well we aren't selling to begin with."
"Yes, but you're running out of money, I can buy it giving Lucielle money to buy herself a little home, and pay off the workers, other wise the Kings men will take the building."
"We aren't worried about that though, we have steady business."
"Oh my, Im sorry to have brought this up then, I thought Lucielle would have let you known."
"What are you going on about?"
"Well Lucielle was looking for loans to keep the brothel running, So I made an offer seeing the situation, but she has been adamant about keeping it."
At hearing this I could see Kaya was confused and angered. She turned to me but I gave her a clueless look, the same cluelessness I was feeling. I shaked my head at her and she got back to negotiations.
"Mr.Halstrod I-"
"As a matter of fact Kaya, please take some time to discuss with Lucielle, I don't want to cause any trouble, Im simply a business man."
"Here as a token of my good will, take something from the store, its on the house."
This flustered Kaya a little bit more as she got up and headed for the door. "Uh, no thank you Mr.Halstrod, um is alright if we can talk again?" Kaya said before leaving. "Of Course, come back in anytime" he responded. We turned for the exit and moved to the door, as we passed the buying counter I noticed another counter that had caught my eye earlier. I grabbed Kaya's arm to stop her.
I was looking at the white greatsword from earlier. The white one that was apparently made from elephant bones. I could tell it was sharp enough and strong enough to do some major damage. "My offer from earlier still stands, anything is one the house." It seemed Halstrod knew I was looking at the sword, because he only turned to face us a few moments after he spoke. I gave a smile and a nod of thanks.
I walked home that day with my brand new sword.
