POV: Cavella Age:4
“Poor kid,” the boy said walking towards me. Why is he saying kid? He’s my age. That’s stupid. When he stood in front of me, I could finally see his features. I’m very nearsighted according to mom but we didn’t have money for glasses. He has red hair and very pale skin. He’s wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants with socks, no shoes.
“Lose both parents at the same time and your future sibling. How tragic,” he continued in a monotone voice. He rolls his eyes and continues to grab my hand and drag me away. I looked back at the people at the funeral, they haven’t even noticed I was gone. All the people, the child services, my parent’s cascuts. I hate cascuts, I hope they’re comfortable in there.
“Don’t worry Cavi. I’ll take you away from here. We’re gonna go see your auntie,” he replied to seeing me look back.
“Where are we going then?” I asked staring at the boy, “And who are you? I don’t have an aunt.” Then he...changed. From a boy to a teenage looking boy, I think its a boy. I don’t know anymore.
“My name is Yurie, I’m a reaper of souls and I’m here to take you to your very distant….and very old aunt. I’m a friend of hers,” he replied, smiling a bit.
“Ok,” I replied, “Where is she?” I looked around and I saw no old woman, or anyone for that matter.
“We’re going to dimension E-9. That’s where she lives,” Yurie replied, then shook his head, “Didn’t your parents ever teach you not to talk to strangers?”
“They did, but you seem familiar to me so I guess you’re not a stranger,” I replied. Yurie then continued to pick me up and hold me on his hip.
“Just in case you fall into a dimension rift. We don’t want that,” Yurie stated and in an instant, we were in an entirely different place. We were at the base of a large, abandoned house. The wood looked as if it was going to fall under any weight.
“I’M BACK WITH HIS SPAWN!” Yurie yelled into the house, then continued to set me down, “Don’t worry, if anythings in here I’ll kill it!”
“I’m not afraid,” I replied grabbing his hand and pulling him into the house.
“Question young human, why are you just unquestionably going along with all this?” Yurie asked looking around.
“I don’t like the people there. I feel like this might be better,” I replied, then looked around and there wasn’t anything in the house except a layer of dust, “I’m supposed to live here?”
“HOW RUDE!” a woman yelled turning around the corner, “And for your information, this is just a meeting place. The house is a few miles away.”
“This is your auntie~!” Yurie replied walking towards her, “My best friend!”
“Piss off,” the woman replied backing away, then looked down at me. She had dark brown hair that ended at her waist, tan skin, brown eyes, and was wearing a loose purple blouse, blue skinny jeans, and tennis shoes. She was definitely not old. She looked about 20 years old.
“I thought you said she was old,” I retorted looking at Yurie who laughed, “What’s your name though?”
“YURIE YOU FIXING TO HEAD TO THE UNDERWORLD YOURSELF,” the woman shouted in a scary mom tone, “My name is Azrael.”
“Sounds like the angel’s name that I heard in one of my books,” I replied staring at her. She laughed at my comment.
“Oh honey, I’m no angel,” Azrael replied, smiling a bit.
“So how are you my aunt?” I asked, “Mom and dad never told me anything about having an aunt.”
“How rude. Your dad never told you about me?” Azrael retorted staring at her then continued to smile, “Yeah that’s definitely his kid.”
“Lovely,” Yurie groaned looking at his phone, “I was supposed to be off by now!”
“Yurie,” Azrael called as they opened the door.
“Yeah?” Yurie replied bending backwards to face us while smiling.
“Will you be Cavella’s companion?” Azrael asked patting my head. I pushed it off and Azrael returned that with a glare.
“OH MY STARS! OF COURSE!” Yurie squealed running towards me and squishing my face, which I returned with a smack at their hands, “I’ll teach you every cuss word there is!”
“Haha. Definitely his kid,” Azrael replied, “Thanks.”
“Anything for you Azzy,” Yurie replied, then they vanished.
“Enough social interaction for today. Let’s go home,” Azrael stated walking towards the door, “Wait, lets get food. Do you like cake?”
“Who doesn’t?” I asked raising my eyebrow.
“Good answer. Do you like tea?”
“I haven’t tried tea yet,” I answered looking at the wall as we both stepped outside. She gasped in astonishment.
“Oh you poor soul. It’s the only thing that’s kept me sane for six million years,” Azrael replied grabbing me and throwing me over her shoulder, “I’ll take you to my favorite place on this horrible planet.”
“Please put me down,” I asked quietly as she walked over to a small black car but she didn’t hear me.
“I don’t have a car seat or anything so you’re just going to have to buckle up,” Azrael stated opening the door of the car and setting me down on my feet, “Why are you so small? And light?”
“She’s four years old Azzy! That’s still young!” Yurie yelled appearing on top of the car.
“Wanna come to that bakery I like?” Azrael asked, casually looking up.
“I thought you had something to do,” I asked glaring up at Yurie.
“Already done!” Yurie replied as two teenagers walked by. They didn’t seem to notice the commotion other than speeding past the house.
“Can we just go and get food? I’m hungry,” I mumbled sitting down in the back seat of the car and began to buckle up.
“FEED MY FRIEND!” Yurie yelled getting in the passenger seat and closing the door as I fastened the seat belt.
“YOU JUST SHUT UP OR YOU’RE NOT COMING!” Azrael yelled walking around the car to the driver’s seat.
“I’ll just drive myself!” Yurie replied pouting.
“You don’t know how to drive Yurie,” Azrael replied starting the car.

A few minutes of driving, Yurie and Azrael arguing and we arrived at the bakery. There was no sign over the doors or anything to indicate it was a bakery. It just looked like a living area.
“Cavella, stay here. Yurie, stay with Cavella,” Azrael ordered pointing at both of us, while parking the car.
“This doesn’t look like a bakery,” I stated turning my head to look out the window. Azrael was now pushing a button that was about her eye level and spoke into the box.
“It isn’t. She just has a friend who knows how to bake,” Yurie replied, “And this guy is very cautious with anything and everything. Just don’t touch anything.”
“Okay,” I replied as Azrael opened my door and began to unbuckle me. She looked nervous.
“I’m assuming Yurie explained. I will explain further,” Azrael mumbled picking me up and placing me on the ground, “My friend can tell what your abilities are or what they will be. I need to know what I’m dealing with. Okay?”
“Okay,” I replied, grabbing her hand. It’s just a habit now. Mom grabs your hand in a parking lot and so does dad. Well, they did.
“Her abilities haven’t surfaced yet, but I feel like they’re gonna be interesting,” Yurie replied grabbing my other hand and smiling.
By the time we came to the door, it was already unlocked and we met a flight of stairs, each level had two doors. We climbed a lot of stairs before we came to the door.
“Before we go in, Yurie, grab Cavella. She’s already irritated,” Azrael stated turning the door knob while Yurie hoisted me up on his hip. The door creaked open and slid a few things by. There was a woman in her mid thirties holding a newspaper. She had dark black hair, skin that was a few shades darker than Azrael’s, and was around 5’6.
The room was simple, couch, tv, etcetera. You could smell the brownies in the oven and there was baking supplies everywhere.
“Butisca vondsic votaer?” the woman yelled walking towards us while glaring.
“English please, oh great goddess,” Azrael replied in a monotone voice. This made the woman more irritated and she started smacking Azrael with the newspaper she had in her hand.
“ALL YOU EVER DO IS COME HERE AND ASK FOR CAKE YOU INSOLENT CHILD!” the woman yelled throwing the newspaper across the room, “AND WHY MUST I SPEAK ENGLISH?”
“My niece is here,” Azrael replied quietly pointing to me and Yurie, “and I thought you liked it when I visit?”
“Oh I do. I just like taking my anger out on you from time to time,” the woman replied glaring at Azrael then turned to look at me, “What is the child’s name?”
“This is Cavella,” Azrael replied while the woman stepped closer, “Cavella this is Arin, the Goddess of War.”
“H-Hi,” I replied waving nervously. War? Goddess?
“I’m assuming you want me to measure the child’s ability level and tell you what they are, yes?” Arin asked, turning to Azrael again.
“Yes please,” Azrael mumbled. With that, Arin sighed and grabbed my hand. After a few seconds she let go and poked my nose.
“Telekinesis, interdimensional sight, and scribe. Potential ability level is uncertain. Her aura is violet,” Arin stated just as the oven gave an alarm that the cake was done, “And she’s not completely human”
“Telewhat? What sight? Scribe?” I asked with wide eyes.
“The majority of mortals have abilities. Were you not educated on this?” Arin asked turning around and squinting her eyes.
“In the dimension she lived in, almost no one had abilities,” Yurie confirmed looking to Azrael.
“She’s not completely human?” Azrael asked tilting her head towards Arin.
“No. Darling do you remember having a surgery?” Arin asked, taking the cake out of the oven and putting it on the stove.
“Yeah. A heart trans-thingy,” I replied trying to remember the word.
“Heart transplant,” Azrael corrected, sitting down on the couch. Then Yurie finally set me down.
“What species?” Yurie asked patting my head.
“Pretty sure that’s vampire,” Arin replied, “So she’s immortal now. Don’t need to be paranoid about this one, Azrael.”
“What?” I asked quietly. Yurie noticed this then slapped their hand against Azrael’s forehead.
“WHAT WAS THAT FOR?” Azrael yelled getting up.
“DON’T YELL IN MY HOUSE!” Arin yelled over them pointing a butter knife at them while the other hand was holding a pitcher in the sink while it filled up with water.
“We’ve been acting like she isn’t here when she is Azzy!” Yurie blurted yanking me by my shoulders to place me in front of them.
“I just wanna eat,” I replied quietly. After that all of them fell silent for a few seconds.
“OH YOU POOR THING!” Arin yelled and she began rapidly cutting the cake.
“DAMN IT AZRAEL SHE’S GONNA STARVE! PROBABLY GONNA DIE OF DEHYDRATION TOO!” Yurie yelled pointing to Azrael, at this Arin also grabbed a glass of water.
“OH REALLY AND WHO TRIED TO TEACH A SIX YEAR OLD HOW TO JUMP OFF A ROOF WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT?!” Azrael yelled. I then sat down on the couch and just waited for this to cool down.
