It turned to millions and billions and tiny splinters and scattered in the air. Some dissolved and disappeared in mid-air, others disappeared when they touched the floor.
It took a while, but when enough shards disappeared, a figure became visible from behind. Holding a large spear, with a width equal to an arm's width and height probably greater than its owner, and carrying an indifferent look on her face, stood Lea. From the way she held the spear, it was apparent that she stabbed it from behind.
The spear looked heavy, but she held it as if it was a toy. She lowered it and sighed.
'Not what I wanted,' she said with an irritated face.
Mark's eyes were fixed on the spear she held in her hand. She noticed Mark's presence long ago, but she took time to get over her displeasure at not finding what she wanted.
'You saw it, right?' she asked and tried her best to muster a friendly smile.
Mark looked snapped and looked up at her. He breathed in and said, 'Obviously...'
The air cleared by that time. She walked towards him, and he wasn't sure if he should trust her or not. He only talked to Lea once. How was he supposed to know this was the real one, since obviously, he shouldn't be operating in the realm of common logic.
'I'm sorry if that frightened you,' she said.
He took a step backwards. 'I don't know about frightened, but I surely can't act according to my normal protocol.'
'That is...?'
'Deal with the situation like human beings.'
Lea stopped walking and looked up at the sky, pondering. 'You're right. I can't expect you to do that, at least right now.' She looked back at Mark. 'Care to hear a little secret?'
He gave off a mocking smile. 'What? I'm the protagonist of a piece of fiction, and you show up to change my life forever?'
'Not quite,' she answered, 'you see, I've been waiting for this to happen.'
'Me getting attacked...?'
'No,' she said with a warm smile, 'I've been waiting for you to see, Hunter.'
