The next morning, Rose woke up to a loud shriek, which she realized was coming from her. She wasn't surprised, seeing as she had the same nightmare every night. But she never quite got to the end. She couldn't go back to sleep, so she decided to get ready for school.
After dealing with her drunken father, she got on the bus, and headed to Hell on Earth. Rose tried to cover the new bruises, but no matter how much makeup she used, she couldn't quite make them disappear. She walked through the halls and passed Silver, in his signature black clothes. He noticed some of the bruises and was about to ask Rose, but Brittany walked up to him.
“Hey, Silver!” Brittany said a little too loudly. Everyone in the hallway looked at Silver and Brittany. He turned around silently as ever and fixed her with a glare that sent shivers down her spine, and caused everyone to turn back around, just as quickly.
“Do I know you?”, he asked in a quiet voice, but was still heard by all, as you could hear a pin drop. “You look slightly familiar.”
“I'm... uh.. I'm Brittany. Remember? From, uh, y-yesterday?” It was the first time anyone could remember, that Brittany stuttered. They were all shocked as Brittany seemed to wither under Silver’s gaze. “Is that a n-new, uh, jacket?”
“Ah, yes… The cheerleader… What do you want? And don't waste my time with small talk. It is vexing and unimportant.” he replied in a voice filled with disdain.
“I was just, maybe, wondering if you, kinda, wanted to go to a party, tonight? With me?” She had never looked smaller than when she was locked in his gaze. She couldn't look away from his piercing eye, no matter how much she wanted to. He blinked, releasing her. She didn't know that she was holding her breath the whole time.
“Hm. No. I'd rather not. I have more pressing matters to attend to.” He turned and walked off, but his eye flicked towards Rose. And Brittany saw. She was shocked into silence. No one had ever rejected her before. She was furious, and she knew exactly who to let it out on. She spun to face Rose, and walked forward with her hand raised. And it fell. And it stopped.
Feeling nothing, and hearing gasps, Rose looked up from her cowering position. Not five inches from her face, was Brittany's hand, stuck in mid-air. Rose followed her arm with her eyes and found another hand, gripping very tightly. And the owner of the second hand was none other than Silver, with a look of pure hatred on his face. He squeezed tighter and tighter, until Brittany was whimpering in pain. “In my opinion, it would be a very bad choice to ever touch Rose again. And this goes for everyone. Every single person in this school should know that Rose Winter is off limits. And the thing that should truly scare you, is that you have only seen me calm. Don't make me angry.”
By this time, Brittany was on her knees, though not in the usual way. A tall, muscular guy walked up, and put his hand on Silver’s shoulder, intending to be the hero, but Silver dropped Brittany, spun around and punched the guy in the face, knocking him down and out. Then, as if it was the coup de gras, he reached into his jacket pocket, and pushed the button on a remote Electromagnetic Pulse, and all the electricity went out in the building. When the lights went back on, they heard an engine getting quieter outside.
For three days, Silver was nowhere to be found. Not that really anyone wanted to see him. Except for Rose, of course. But, he never got in trouble. Brittany was hoping to get evidence against him, but there were no marks on her wrist, no witnesses willing to step up, and no camera evidence, due to the EMP. After not seeing Silver for awhile Rose decided to call him, thanks to the little black card with the silver phone number on it. Rose dialed the number and listened to the ringing on her phone. The phone rang once, twice and then a third time, but Silver didn't answer. Rose called a second time. It rang once, twice and then a third time, but still no answer. Rose was getting a little worried, she decided to call a third time and after the phone rang the first time she heard something.
“Hello? Who is this?” The voice sounded different, as if the person on the other end was out of breath.
“U-um hello. I-it’s Rose. R-Rose Winter. Is t-this Silver..?” Rose was a nervous wreck, stumbling over her words.
“Oh… um…. What do you want?” he stammered at first before regaining control.
“I w-was worried about you because y-you haven't come to school in a c-couple days.” Rose says while trying not to lose her voice.
“I'm fine Rose. You don't need to be concerned about me.” Silver said in a calming voice. The next thing Silver heard was Rose gasping for air. Her father was drunk and was choking her 'cause she was talking on the phone. He could hear her dad yelling at her and through the yelling he heard Rose.
“S-Sil...ver… h...help” She said through gasps. Silver located Rose through her phone number. He raced over to Rose's house and pulled out his sword. Silver could tell through the windows that Rose and her drunken father were in a room down the hall. He ran down the hall and kicked the door off its hinges. Rose's father looked at Silver with surprise and frustration.
“Who the fuck you s'pose to be?” her father grunted.
“I’m your personal demon, asshole” Silver hissed through gritted teeth. “I have come to take you to Hell, where you belong.” Silver lifted up his sword and was about to swing at Rose's dad, but Rose using the rest of her strength went in front of him and held her hands up.
“N-no...Si-Silver…” She croaked. Although her neck was swollen and starting to bruise, she refused to let Silver use his sword on her father.
“H-he may b-be a te-terrible fa-ther, *gasp* b-but you ca-can't hurt him…” She croaked again with tears in her eyes. By this time Rose's dad layed down on the couch behind her. Silver stared at Rose with his piercing blue eye and unchanging facial expression. Then he sighed heavily, looking down Silver carefully took Rose's hand and lead her outside to his car. He had her sit down in the passenger seat. She looked up at him with a tired expression.
“Rest Rose. You need it.” Silver said in a soothing voice. He closed the door and looked back at the house with such rage, if looks could kill or burn the house would be engulfed in flames along with her father. Silver got into the driver seat and closed his door. He looked over and Rose was already asleep. At that angle he could see the bruises and marks from her father. She looked fragile, so fragile that a single touch could break her. Silver reached out his hand and was about to touch the sleeping angels face but he hesitated. He pulled his hand back and started the car. After that all you could hear was the car getting quieter as it went to its destination.
