Ruth's energy was starting to get low. She couldn't keep this up for much longer. The fight had dragged on for hours now, and more of them just kept showing up. She started assessing her surroundings again. her eyes land on a man holding a pole in his hands, and than on the glass pained ceiling. The room was two stories high with seats for spectators to sit, and a royal box for the boss himself to oversee it all. Weapons sat out of reach on wooden tables. Which these men seemed dependent on, it drove her nuts. Her mentor taught her to only use a weapon if it's necessary. She didn't waste another second. Adrenaline pumped through her body, as she rushed the man. She fainted a punch that turned into a devastating kick to the head. Ruth snatched the pole from the falling mans hands.
She turned to face the men knowing they would try to dodge first. Running right at the crowd, she plants the stick in the ground. Launching herself into the air, and through the unyielding glass. New blood sprang from cuts and slash's it caused. She had land off balance which sent her into a near by tree. The shock of the landing sent needle pricks all the way up her legs. Before she could dwell on the pain, she started out on a dead run towards the smell of water. There she can put step three into action.
Once at the rivers edge, she wadded into the water. letting the blood wash away, and taking huge gulps of water into her stomach. She runs her hands over her freshly healed skin with shock. Shaking her head, and deciding to think about it later. On the other side, she knelt in the mud. Rubbing every inch of her body with it. She sniffed the air to scent out her friends, but found that their trail ended here as well. Good. Now they were safe. Another thing she had taken note of after she was injected with the strange drug. Her senses seemed stronger than before. Shakng her head once more, and again deciding to address it later. She'd find out what he did to them. She pulled a branc off a tree wiping away her footprints. Than she was darting through the woods again, looking for any sign of civilization. She found a road a few miles away from the river, and she nearly jumped with glee. This means on to step four. She crossed the road, and began running along the side of it in the trees.
Finally she hit a town, and from the sign she saw. She wasn't too far from home. She snatches a map out of a garbage can, and looks for her home town. She pinpoints it real quick, and moves on to step five. She knew they didn't care about what happened to her friends, but they wanted her. The way their leader watched her as she fought his men had sent a shiver down her spin. He was pure evil, and she knew it. Everyone in that place reeked of awful smells except for the kid. he was the last decent person in that place, so she was gonna make sure he got out too. She spots an easy to hotwire care, and waste no time getting to it. She bring the car to life with just a few clicks, and soon is headed on her way home.
Brittany looks at Noir with worry crinkling her brow. "Do you think she got out of there?"
Noir nodded her head. "you know her background. if any one can survive a place like that, than it's Ruth." She smiles at Brittany.
The girls hadn't stopped holdings hands since they left, and the young man I n the front seat of the car was watching his surroundings intensely. His eyes met Brittany's in the rearview mirror for a second before he spoke. "I have a friend that owns land near here. He'll gladly take you two in. He runs a clan, too, but it's nothing like the old man's. We are almost there." He turns onto a highway heading south. "So how are we going to get in contact with your friend again. I know Jamir will won't to meet her as well."
Noir looks out the window with a frown. "We won't be. Her plan will be to lead them far away from here, and from us."
Brittany grabs Noir's shoulder to look her in the eye. "You knew she was lying. Why didn't you try to stop her, than?"
Noir met her friends anger with a calm voice. "I knew there wasn't away to change her mind. She can handle herself perfectly fine, but we would just be a distraction during a fight." She watches Brittany's face slack, as she understood Noir's reasoning. The car grew quiet, and nobody dared to break the silence. Hours passed by slowly, as they drive down the stretch of road until her took a turn off the highway.
He looks bac at the girls while he spoke. "Almost there ladies." Noir smiled to herself when he met Brittany's eyes once again. He'll serve as a good distraction for her friend, if things go bad for Ruth. Noir knew she could put a halt in Ruth's plan, if she told the man they were going to meet. however, in a way it would be betraying her friends trust. She would pounder it a little longer until she decides. Because for all she knew, this man could be worse than the last. If that happened , than she'd haft to find away to contact Ruth. She would show up in blazing anger to save them both, again. Noir laughed, but than sighed. She hated causing trouble for Ruth. Though Noir knew, that Ruth would never complain. Not even o herself when no one was around.
Noir watched the trees turn into an ocean of green, as they travelled closer to the mountain. She looked up to see a slight break in the rees. Guessing that's probably their target. She smiled slightly when they turned down a dirt road facing the clearing she saw.
A man with ivory hair stood at he foot of the main building. His face was stern, but laugh line gave way to his true personality. Noir helps Brittany out of the car while keeping her body placed between her and the stranger. The man holds up his hands to show he was no threat, and a friendly smile fell into place. "Ladies, relax. I mean no harm. I came to great you personally because you helped recover my second." He points to the young man that had helped them escape. "My name is Jamir." When neither women stepped forward, he waves his hand for someone to join them. A petite woman with brown hair steps out with a mile. "I'll let Ella show you around."
Brittany squeaks out. "Only if he's allowed to come." Her eyes dart to the young man, and Noir sends her friend a warning glare. The last ting he needed was for this man to find out her friends new weakness.
Jamir nods his head with relief. "Of course. You two are welcome to make any demands that will help you adjust to your new life."
Noir cocked her head to the side curious about his words, and spoke it in a question. "New life?"
Jamir looks her in the eyes. "Well, you are no longer human, dear. That injection he gave you was a form of the gene that releases your primal instinct."
Noir understood that he would have the key to the knowledge she seeks, and she was going to use that to help bring Ruth back. "Which means what exactly?"
Jamir pursed to her lips at her lack of knowledge. "Your weres. You have been pulled into a world that only a few know about. As to what were you are, we do not know. However, we will find out after you first shift."
Noir remembered all those books she saw in libraries about paranormal creatures. They always made her cringe at the fact that love was always twisted into the story. Based on some soulmate theory that made no sense to her. A branch snapped to her right, and she swirled around to plant herself between the new threat and her friend. A panther strolled out of a bush, and instinctively Noir knew this creature was not what it seemed. She also knew it was looking for a fight. She could smell it's fury, and see the tension in it's muscles. She heard Jamir say something that sounded like a threat to the beast however it's eyes were locked on Noir. She also felt compelled to meet his challenge.
She remembered a few things Ruth taught her to protect herself, and hoped it was enough to strive off this creature. "Kyle, watch Brittany." The words barely left her mouth when the panther lunged at her. Noir steps sideways, and wraps her arms around the beast. She turns on the tip of her feet sending the creature into the trees. It recovers quickly, and darts straight for her. She tries to dodge, but gets caught by its side swipe. While flying through the air, she felt the weird sensation of her skin burning. She lands on her hands and knees, but that wasn't exactly accurate. She flexes her new muscles, and streaks towards the panther.
Noirs claws snatch the animal's hyde, and pulls it away from the others. She pins the other panther to the ground with ease. She meets its blue eyes with her own, and felt something move within her. Strange. What's this feeling? Suddenly Jamir is shooing her off the male cat. "Okay, you two, enough." His frown is quickly replaced with a smile though. "I haven't ever seen anyone take down Ray, especially in his panther form. Also we know what you are, that'll help us train your abilities." he glances at the male panther. "Ray will teach you since he so kindly decided to test your strength for us." The panther puffed out a sigh, and cocked his head towards Noir. She ignores the gesture, and walks towards Brittany.
Her friend stood shocked at the situation. Noir likcs her friends face to comfort her, and Brittany laughs at the rough feel of her tongue. Brittany rus her hand down her friends silky fur. "Did it hurt? I wonder what I'll turn out to be?" Noir shakes her head in answer.
Jamir laughs at his two friends stoic expressions while they watched the two women. "Ella has some clothes for you, Noir." She looks back at him with confusion. "Just concentrate on your other form."
Ella places the clothes on Noir's back as she walks behind the car. Noir feels a burning sensation across her skin again. She looks down at her hands, and ran them along her skin. Weird. This almost feels more constricting than the other skin. She slips the clothes on, and walks back to join them. A man with black hair leaned up against the car. Seeing that he only wore a pair of paints. She knew he was probably the panther she fought. She continued to walk past him when he reached out and caught her hand.
He looked at her apologetically. "I'm sorry for the way I acted." She looks his face over, and felt that same pang in her stomach. "I wanted to officially introduce myself. My name is Ray, and I'll be your mentor." Tingles ran up her arm were he held her hand.
She pulls it away, as she introduces herself. "Noir." She starts to walk away again, and he falls in step beside her. She watches him out of the corner of her eye. "Something you need?"
Ray looks at her fainting a hurt expression. "As your mentor, I am supposed to give you a tour of the facilities." Noir's eyes find Brittany standing next to Kyle. She smiles when she sees her friend laughing. "She can smile." The smile fell from Noirs face, and she shot him a glare. Men. the only bring trouble, and their exactly why her life was turned upside down.
Jamir waves everyone to the door, and they follow him into the great hall. He leads them down a hall to an office. Once inside, he motions for them to sit down. "Okay. I know their was three of you, so what happened to your friend?"
Noir measured her words carefully. "She escaped out a different route."
Jamir nods his head. "So she is still being hunted, huh?" He stated it more as a fact rather than a question. He rubbed his chin while thinking about his next move. "Do you know where she will go?" Noir nods her head. "Will you tell me, or do you not trust me?"
Noir lifts her chin in the air. "Trust is earned, and I will not betray hers. Plus, from my experience men have a problem with keeping promises and keeping trust."
Jamir frowns at her words, but doesn't argue with her. "Fine. Just think about this. He is ruthless, ad will not stop until he has her."
Noir's smile hid unknown knowledge, but her words gave a hint. "So is she."
Jamir raises an eyebrow. "What's your friends name at least?"
Brittany chimes in at that moment. "Ruth Reynolds."
he smiles a thank you at her. "Thank you. Now your mentors will take you two on a tour of the facility while gets your rooms ready." he points at the two men. "You two stay on our best behavior though we already know Noir can know you down a peg."
Ray smiles at Noir. "No joke. Doubt I'll have much to teach her on THAT front." She met his gaze with her own, as his words sent a shiver down her spin. He was going to be trouble.
Noir turns back to look at Jamir. "I have a request, sir."
Jamir grimaced at her wording. "Only if you never call me that again. Jamir will be fine."
Noir cocks her head to the side, but decides to go with it. "Could it be possible to go to town?"
Jamir frown at her request. "Not right now, no. However if it is completely necessary, than we will find a way to get it done."
Noir lets out a sigh of relief. "It is completely necessary. Plus, if you really want to try to find Ruth, than it's be beneficial to you, too."
Jamir examines Noir for second with peaked curiosity. "So what your saying is that if I let you do this, I will learn a way to track your friend?"
Noir smiles at him. "Maybe or maybe not. You'll haft to see." Come on, take the bait. She needed to get their, and his help would make it easier.
Jamir crosses his arms. "Okay, but under one condition. Ray, Kyle, and I will be who accompanies you."
Noir nods her head. "I can live with that." And, she would. Anything to make sure Ruth didn't disappear on them.
