"Your coming here could bring trouble to my pack." The tall Alpha states gravely.
Alex, eyes looking to the side "I'm sorry Alpha, we didn't have a choice. If we could have gone anywhere else we would have."
Though his face didn’t show it, Joh was amused watching the giant Beta trying not to make eye contact. It was difficult for the towering man because his height meant looking down in submission could easily turn into looking down at the Alpha if the angle was wrong. Joh was tall, but this Beta rivaled an oak in height. Joh actually liked Alexander but wasn't completely ready to let him off the hook. The pretty little Omega had contacted his Luna last night begging asylum. Things were turning sour at Bright Moon and the mountain ghost was at the heart of it. She had spirited away the Arch Alpha. If the Arch wasn't dead yet, Joh was sure he would be soon. That was unfortunate, Joh had found this Arch's rule to have been easier to deal with than those of the past.
If the Arch Alpha died so would his warriors here. Joh would regret eliminating the lovely Omega and he was sure his Luna would be furious, but his pack could not afford the attention of the Council. Especially not where the mountain ghost was concerned. Better to pin everything on Bright Moon if things went badly. His warriors had been out patrolling the last few hours since the Onyx Flame group arrived to ensure Bright Moon hadn't followed. One of the Spokane pack had disabled the GPS on the vehicles, but there was still no way to tell if Bright Moon had tracked them to his territory.
Joh wasn't afraid of the hybrid pack, it was more their allies and allies allies that would arrive in wave after wave should conflict break out. His ancestors had already weathered that storm and learned a hard lesson. Now they preferred to be left alone, let the hybrids do their thing and his people would do theirs.
Alex remained standing and submissive in front of Joh. Tired of the game, "What is done is done Alex. Now we need to decide how to move forward. Come, its time for dinner." Joh gruffly commented
Crowded around a small dinner table were Red, Kate, the pack Luna, the Spokane Alpha Joh, Alex, Trip, the Alpha's parents, and the pack Beta's mate and the pack Beta. Everyone ate silently.
Joh noticed the strawberry blonde warrior kept casting glances between him and Alex. A question he didn't dare ask in his eyes.
Joh, to Alex, "What does your young warrior want to know?"
Joh was shocked when Alex verbally asked instead of mind linking. "What do you want to ask Red?"
Red's head snaps up, "I wanted to know how Brice and Willie are doing."
Joh throws a questioning look at Alex, why had he or one of their pack members not told the young man?
Seeing Joh's expression, "Red has been transferred to our pack, but the Arch Alpha has not met him to accept him yet. Right now his pack link is severed." Alex explains.
Joh's Luna looks over at the young warrior, sympathy in her expression. She squeezes her mate's hand.
Joh replies to Red. "Willie is recovering quickly with our healer's assistance. He should be up and moving tonight. We will need him to help your other friend. Willie is the only one we know who has a chance of safely removing the silver so close to his heart."
Red shifts uncomfortably.
"Is there something else?" Joh asks.
Red looks up at the Alpha "May I see them?"
Feeling the pressure of his Luna's hand, Joh nods "I’ll have someone take you after dinner."
"Thank you Alpha." Red drops his eyes back down.
After dinner Red is led into a small room in the back of the house by the Alpha's father. Willie lays propped on a pallet his injuries healed amazingly considering it has only been a few hours. Sage is burning in a bowl and another man sets fanning the smoke while chanting. Red walks up to Willie and sets on the edge of his matt. Willie opens his eyes and smiles at Red. "Hey there youngin', thank you for comin' for me. I saw what you did."
Tears well in Red's eyes.
Willie, "Ah, none of that now. Old Willie will be fine."
Red, "Willie, can you fix Brice?"
"Is that the fella with the silver near his ticker?" Willie inquires. Red nods, "I probably have a trick or two that will help. Don't worry none. Now I hav'ta rest so as I can help your friend later." Willie pats Red's hand then leans back closing his eyes.
The Alpha's father tugs at Red and draws him out of the room. "Maybe its better you don’t see the other one yet. Wait until Willie has worked on him."
Red follows the old man back up to the living room. Trip and Alex sit on a couch talking, bed rolls are off to the side. Kate is nowhere to be seen.
