It had been three days since I fought in the king's arena. I was moved into a new room that was slightly larger, a trunk for my belongings, which was some basic cloth and leather clothing, with the blue and white insignia of the kingdom. There was also my bed and a desk with a candle for light, which wasn't needed during the day with the window that looked out towards Urian, from where I could tell, the building I was in was north of the interior, set up on a hill. I hadn't been let out of the room much, but Galland had been checking on me periodically.
The first day he came in and gave me a new name. Everyone around me had always called me Little Brother, but Galland didn't like that, neither did I.
"Well your aren't exactly my 'Little Brother'. So we need to get you something proper." He sat and looked at me for a moment and continued "Well it took me all your charades to figure little brother... so I need you to speak." I just looked at him for a moment and shrugged. "Well whatever kid, um, I mean, we- OH!" The stuttering into an excited yelp was enough to surprise me. Galland continued "I have the perfect idea, you kill people, and your gonna kill them even better after Im done with you, and you're like a wild beast, so Arawn would be perfect." I had no Idea what he was talking about, but the new name took some getting used to.
After that Galland kept asking me questions, for his age he was pretty annoying. "How old are you?" "Where did you come from?" "You ever rode a horse?" In retrospect these questions were mostly normal but I've never been talkative. After awhile I really remembered something that I needed answers for, after a minute of trying to get Galland to shut up, I spoke my first words in a long time. "Lucielle?" This really got Galland going, he hopped out of his chair and started laughing "WOOOW, this golden, he speaks, haha, but Lucielle is the brothel manager right?" To this I nodded as Galland kept going "Well she is alright, a little banged up but, you know, we told her you are alright and that you will be training with us for now." I had sorta forgot about that, so I perked my head up to get him to keep going, although I was relieved to hear about Lucielle, whose pain was just another reason to hate King Luan. "Oh that got your attention eh Arawn, well yeah, I will be your main trainer, but you will be with cadets partially, who are around your age, maybe." He was smiling, but those eyes were back, I started to see how unpredictable Galland was, and that this unpredictability was going to be dangerous.
Galland clasped his hands together and continued watching me, "Well, how do you feel about fighting without killing." I guess I hadn't thought about it before, but I think my beast had, because I started feeling pretty warm.
