Kira opened his front door and welcomed the family into his home, a sturdy looking brick house on the corner of Bruno Avenue. He looked slightly nervous, but Sel gave him a reassuring nod. "They won't mind," Sel murmured. Kira's eyes lit up and his chest swelled with pride.
"Tyr," Kira called up the stairs. "We have guests." There was a thud and audible stumbling from upstairs, then a dark grey coloured lion made his way downstairs wearing a sleeveless shirt and sweatpants.
"Oh, is that Selbast I see?" Tyr's light English accent tinted his every word. "What brings you here?" Kira cleared his throat. "Their house was burned in what we suspect was arson," he mumbled quietly. Tyr smiled warmly. "Well make yourself at home, what's mine is yours."
Pa stepped forward and shook Tyr's hand. "Thanks, mate. By any chance are you a Scouser? I was born in Liverpool myself." Tyr leaned on the stair railing and nodded with amazement. "Yeah, I was a sailor in my day." Kraim rolled his eyes and decided to wander around the house with Sel following close behind.
They looked over the kitchen which contained a few cook books and plenty of cutlery. There were protein shake packets strewn around the counter as well. Sel opened the fridge and saw a container of vegan steak and vegan bacon along with other predator friendly foods. Kraim reached for a can of beer, which Sel responded to with a slap to the younger brother's hand.
Kira padded in and sat on the counter. "Have one if you want. Tyr and I don't mind." Kraim reached for it again which earned him another swat.
"Thanks but our parents would probably cut our tails off."
"What did you say about arson back there," Kraim asked, rubbing his aching hand. Kira rubbed his paws together and looked toward the floor. "I think someone burned your house on purpose. There's no one else who lives out there and it wasn't an electrical fire. And you see for yourself the weather is as fair as can be." Kraim and Sel nodded in unison. "So is that your new roommate?" "Well, yes but actually no." Sel raised an eyebrow. "Spill the tea," he said teasingly. "--Like Americans on the 16th of December in 1773," Kraim added. "Dude, shut up," Sel sighed with slight exasperation, then turned his attention back to Kira, who continued talking about what Tyr is like.
Kraim shook his head and walked into the lower bedroom and looked around. There were drag queen magazines and copies of songs from Jungle Brothers on the floor. He walked around for a while, then stepped on a pack of cigarettes which he inspected slowly.
