Selbast took a deep breath and rested his head on his hands. Sitting at the kitchen counter on a bar stool wasn't as uncomfortable as he had first thought. Looking toward the floor and letting his eyes adjust, he smiled softly at Kraim rolled up in blankets on the tiled floor like a burrito, his head buried in a pillow.
His eyes began to droop until an outburst of guffaws and loud singing made him leap from the stool. "PUT HIM IN BED WITH A FRISKY VULPI EARLY IN THE MORNIN!" He turned his head and looked over at the microwave clock. 3:58. He sighed and sat on the counter top. Pa and Tyr seemed to be getting along quite well drinking and yowling into the night even if it did deprive Sel of sleep.
Kraim rolled over, covering his head with a pillow to block out the noise. Kira, who was also woken from the noise, stepped lightly downstairs to the kitchen for a snack. "Hey, Kira."
"Howzit, Bast. Couldn't sleep from Titi?"
Sel stretched his arms over his head, his joints making slight cracking sounds. "Nah, more my Pa than your Tyr. I'd recognize that laugh from miles away." Kira smirked and opened the fridge.
"Pass me a glass could you?" Sel's eyes were pretty bad at night but he managed to pick up a wine glass and throw it to Kira who fumbled with it, but held on to it. "You want to break my cups do ya," Kira hissed playfully. He pulled out the milk carton and began pouring it in the cup. "How's your Mum getting on?"
"She's fine. Fire didn't phase her. She's asleep on your couch right now."
"And your Pa?"
"He has plenty of whiskey to forget about it for a week or two."
Kira opened a cabinet and pulled a small orange... bottle? Vial? Sel narrowed his eyes and tried to see what Kira was doing. "What's that?" Kira's ears flattened against his head defensively, then they swiveled back to neutral position. "Medicine. Nothing to worry about, Bast."
Sel's nose quivered and he flinched at the smell. It had the sharp of barren-wort extract and a slightly enticing scent of... "What kind?" Kira downed the pills and drank some milk which he swished in his mouth for a moment. "Nunya," Kira said quietly. "Nunya darn business." Sel rolled his eyes. "Be like that then. Don't overdose." Kira nearly spat his milk out.
"You think I'm an addict? No no no, these are to better my performance." He took another sip. "My physical performance in the FFC. Furry Fire Control." Sel raised an eyebrow and nodded slowly. Barren-wort isn't a plant that helps with muscle growth. Sel didn't want to address the lie. He instead decided to confront Kira in the morning.
